Small Story 422.

Small Story 422 Morning Bonds of Friendship Mahadev was waiting for his friend Nagaraj at 6 a.m. to go for their morning walk. Nagaraj arrived on his vehicle, stopped at their usual meeting place, and both started walking around the park. More than seventy people walked there every morning—most of them retired and above sixty-five. Nagaraj and Mahadev had been good friends for more than two decades, both retired from the Agricultural Department. Each had one son, both settled in Australia. “Hey Nagaraj, any news from our friend Basavaraj?” asked Mahadev. “Yes,” replied Nagaraj. “Yesterday I received a message that he has gone to Dubai for a week with his family. His grandson has got a job there in the famous airline—Emirates—in the finance department.” Mahadev was happy to hear about Basavaraj’s trip. “We both went to London five years back and enjoyed our ten-day holiday there,” he said with a smile. “I know,” whispered Nagaraj. “He’s such a nice guy—always keeping our group cheerful.” “True,” agreed Mahadev. “We all met two and a half decades ago, and our friendship has only grown stronger over the years—with care and bonding.” All the members of their group had retired from good positions but remained simple and helpful in nature. After their walk, Mahadev and Nagaraj went to their other meeting spot, the same place they had been gathering for over twenty-five years. There, other friends greeted them warmly with coffee. The group was lively and well-respected in the community for their togetherness during their 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. meetings. After spending a cheerful hour together, everyone departed, content and refreshed. These senior citizens were truly enjoying their retired life in a meaningful way—and their group stood as a shining example of friendship and positivity. K.Ragavan 7-11-25
