மறக்க முடியாத சந்திப்பு

மங்களூருக்குப் புறப்பட்டிருந்த ரயிலின் முன்பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பெட்டிக்குள் விஷாலும் அவரது தந்தை விஷ்ணுவும் நுழைந்தனர். அடுத்த நாள் மங்களூரில் நடைபெறவிருந்த நுழைவுத் தேர்வை எழுதுவதற்காக விஷால் பயணம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தான்.

அப்போது முதல் வரிசையில் அமர்ந்திருந்த ஒருவர் திடீரென,

“ஏய் விஷ்ணு!” என்று அழைத்தார்.

விஷ்ணு திரும்பிப் பார்த்ததும் மகிழ்ச்சியில் முகம் மலர்ந்தது. அது அவரது உறவுச் சகோதரி நிரூபா.

“ஹாய் விஷ்ணு! எப்படி இருக்கிறாய்?” என்று அவள் அன்புடன் கேட்டாள்.

“நான் நன்றாக இருக்கிறேன். நீ எப்படி இருக்கிறாய்? வெங்கட் எப்படி இருக்கிறார்?” என்று விஷ்ணு பதிலளித்தார்.

“அவர் நலமாக இருக்கிறார். நான் ஒரு திருமண விழாவில் கலந்துகொள்ள மங்களூருக்கு போகிறேன். நீங்கள்?” என்று நிரூபா கேட்டாள்.

“விஷால் நாளை நுழைவுத் தேர்வு எழுதப் போகிறான்,” என்று பெருமையுடன் கூறினார் விஷ்ணு.

“அப்படியா! மிகவும் சந்தோஷம்,” என்று சிரித்தபடி சொன்னாள் நிரூபா.

“நீங்கள் இருவரும் என் தோழியின் வீட்டில்தான் தங்குங்கள். ஹோட்டலுக்காக தேவையில்லாமல் பணம் செலவழிக்க வேண்டாம்.”

“நன்றி ஆன்ட்டி,” என்று மரியாதையுடன் கூறினான் விஷால்.

“என் தேர்வு மையமும் மங்களூரில்தான் இருக்கிறது.”

மங்களூரை அடைந்தபின், மூவரும் ஒரு கார் வாடகைக்கு எடுத்து நிரூபாவின் தோழியின் வீட்டுக்குச் சென்றனர். கதவைத் திறந்த பெண்மணியைப் பார்த்தவுடன் விஷ்ணு அதிர்ச்சியடைந்தார். அவள் அவரது பழைய கல்லூரி தோழி ரோகிணி.

ரோகிணியும் அவரைக் கண்டு அதே அளவு மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தாள்.

“அட விஷ்ணு! எப்படி இருக்கிறாய்?” என்று உற்சாகமாகக் கேட்டாள்.

இருவரின் ஆச்சரியத்தையும் மகிழ்ச்சியையும் பார்த்த நிரூபா சிரித்தபடி,

“அப்படியா! நீங்கள் இருவரும் கல்லூரியில் சேர்ந்து படித்தவர்களா?” என்றாள்.

கல்லூரி நாட்களில் விஷ்ணு ரோகிணியை மனதார விரும்பியிருந்தார். ஆனால் தனது காதலை ஒருபோதும் வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை. படிப்பை முடித்தபின் ரோகிணி மேல்படிப்பிற்காக வெளிநாடு சென்றாள். பின்னர் தன் கணவர் வினோத்துடன் சொந்த ஊரான மங்களூரில் குடியேறினாள்.

ரோகிணியும் வினோதும் அமைதியான மகிழ்ச்சியான வாழ்க்கை வாழ்ந்து வந்தனர். அவர்களுக்கு குழந்தைகள் இல்லாவிட்டாலும், சிறு குழந்தைகளுக்காக அன்புடன் ஒரு மாண்டிசொரி பள்ளியை நடத்தி வந்தனர். வினோத் மங்களூரிலுள்ள ஒரு முன்னணி நிறுவனத்தில் ரசாயனப் பொறியாளராக பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.

அடுத்த நாள் அதிகாலையிலேயே விஷாலும் விஷ்ணுவும் தேர்வு மையத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றனர். தேர்வு முடிந்தபின், தந்தையும் மகனும் பெங்களூருக்குத் திரும்பும் ரயிலில் ஏறினர்.

ரயில் மெதுவாக முன்னே நகர்ந்துகொண்டிருக்க, விஷ்ணு அமைதியாக அமர்ந்து தனது கல்லூரி நாட்களின் நினைவுகளில் மூழ்கினார். இருபது ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு ரோகிணியை மீண்டும் சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பை விதி தந்ததற்காக அவர் மனமார நன்றியுணர்வு கொண்டார். வினோதும் மிகவும் நல்ல மனம் கொண்ட மனிதராக இருந்தார்.

ஒருகாலத்தில் சொல்லப்படாத இளமைக் காதலாக இருந்த உணர்வு, காலப்போக்கில் தூய்மையான தெய்வீக நட்பாக மாறிவிட்டதை விஷ்ணு உணர்ந்தார்.

ரயில் ஜன்னல் வழியாக வெளியைக் கவனித்தபடி, மெதுவாக அவர் தன்னிடமே கூறிக்கொண்டார்:

“இருபது ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு என் பழைய தோழியை மீண்டும் சந்திக்கச் செய்த கடவுள் உண்மையிலேயே கருணையாளர்.”

Sweet News

Ram and Apparao entered their usual meeting place to meet their friends. Apparao and Ram lived ini the same apartment complex. Both had retired from the Income Tax Department with good reputations. Apparao lived with his wife Brundha and daughter Aruna in the flat next to Ram’s apartment.

Ram and his wife Suganthi were alone in their large apartment. Their son Rakesh worked for a leading advertising agency in Mumbai. At twenty-eight, he was smart, friendly, and well settled, though he was still unmarried. He visited his parents whenever he found time.

As soon as Ram and Apparao arrived, their friend Vasu welcomed them warmly and offered sweets.

“My son got engaged yesterday,” Vasu announced proudly. “The girl is his classmate from Mumbai.”

Everyone happily tasted the delicious Mysore Pak and Badam Cake.

Apparao smiled and said, “That is wonderful news, Vasu. I hope Ram will also distribute sweets soon.”

Ram laughed softly. “I too wish for that day. But whenever I bring up the topic of marriage, Rakesh refuses and shows no interest.”

One of the friends comforted him. “Don’t worry. When the right time comes, he will agree.”

After spending nearly forty-five minutes discussing various topics ranging from sports to films, the friends dispersed happily.

When Ram returned home, Suganthi greeted him with excitement.

“Good news! Apparao’s daughter Aruna has got a good job in Bengaluru. She will join tomorrow. Brundha sent this Badusha sweet for us.”

Ram smiled happily. “Wonderful! In the morning, we celebrated Vasu’s son’s engagement, and now Aruna’s job. Sou many good things are happening.”

Suganthi sighed gently. “Yes, good newsu everywhere. I wonder when good news will come to our home.”

Just then, Rakesh called from Mumbai.

“Mum,” he said, “my senior manager advised me not to postpone marriage and suggested that marrying at the right age is important. He sent me a photograph of his relative and asked me to share it with you and Dad. I respect him a lot for his advice. Also, I have been transferred as manager to our new Bengaluru branch.”

Ram’s face lit up with joy. His son would now be closer to them in Bengaluru. Curious, he opened the forwarded photograph. To his surprise, it was none other than Aruna.

Before Ram could recover from his excitement, Apparao entered the house holding his mobile phone.

“I came to show you the photograph sent by my relative through Rakesh’s senior manager,” he said eagerly.

Both friends looked at each other in amazement. Ram smiled warmly and said, “Apparao, your words have come true. Without even knowing it, we are going to become sammandhis!”

The two families shared sweets once again, this time celebrating a beautiful relationship destined by fate.

இனிய செய்தி

ராம் மற்றும் அப்பாராவ் தங்களது நண்பர்களைச் சந்திக்க வழக்கமாக கூடும் இடத்திற்குள் நுழைந்தார்கள். ராமும் அப்பாராவும் ஒரே அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்பில் வசித்தனர். இருவரும் வருமான வரித்துறையில் நல்ல பெயருடன் பணியாற்றி ஓய்வு பெற்றவர்கள். அப்பாராவ் தனது மனைவி பிருந்தாவும் மகள் அருணாவும் உடன், ராமின் வீட்டிற்கு அடுத்துள்ள வீட்டில் வசித்தார்.

ராம் மற்றும் அவரது மனைவி சுகந்தி பெரிய வீட்டில் தனியாக வாழ்ந்து வந்தனர். அவர்களது மகன் ராகேஷ் மும்பையில் உள்ள ஒரு முன்னணி விளம்பர நிறுவனத்தில் வேலை பார்த்தான். இருபத்தெட்டு வயதான அவன் புத்திசாலி, பழகும் தன்மை கொண்டவன், நல்ல நிலையில் இருந்தாலும் இன்னும் திருமணம் ஆகவில்லை. நேரம் கிடைக்கும் போதெல்லாம் பெற்றோரைக் காண வந்து செல்வான்.

ராமும் அப்பாராவும் வந்தவுடன், அவர்களது நண்பர் வாசு அன்புடன் வரவேற்று இனிப்புகள் வழங்கினார்.

“நேற்று என் மகனுக்கு நிச்சயதார்த்தம் நடந்தது,” என்று வாசு பெருமையுடன் கூறினார். “மணமகள் மும்பையில் அவனுடன் படித்த வகுப்பு தோழி.”

அனைவரும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் ருசியான மைசூர் பாகும் பாதாம் கேக்கும் சுவைத்தனர்.

அப்பாராவ் புன்னகையுடன், “அருமையான செய்தி வாசு. சீக்கிரமே ராமும் இனிப்பு வழங்குவார் என்று நம்புகிறேன்,” என்றார்.

ராம் மெதுவாகச் சிரித்தார். “நானும் அதையே விரும்புகிறேன். ஆனால் திருமணத்தைப் பற்றி பேசும்போதெல்லாம் ராகேஷ் மறுத்துவிடுகிறான். அவனுக்கு ஆர்வமே இல்லை.”

ஒரு நண்பர் ஆறுதல் கூறினார். “கவலைப்படாதே. சரியான நேரம் வந்தால் அவனே சம்மதிப்பான்.”

சுமார் நாற்பத்தைந்து நிமிடங்கள் விளையாட்டு முதல் திரைப்படங்கள் வரை பல விஷயங்களைப் பற்றி மகிழ்ச்சியாகப் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்த நண்பர்கள் பின்னர் பிரிந்துச் சென்றனர்.

வீட்டிற்கு திரும்பிய ராமை சுகந்தி உற்சாகமாக வரவேற்றாள்.

“ஒரு நல்ல செய்தி! அப்பாராவின் மகள் அருணாவுக்கு பெங்களூரில் நல்ல வேலை கிடைத்திருக்கிறது. நாளையே பணியில் சேர்கிறாள். பிருந்தா நமக்காக இந்த பாதுஷா இனிப்பை அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார்.”

ராம் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் சிரித்தார். “அருமை! காலை வாசுவின் மகன் நிச்சயதார்த்தத்தை கொண்டாடினோம். இப்போது அருணாவின் வேலை. எங்கும் நல்ல செய்திகள்தான்.”

சுகந்தி மெதுவாக பெருமூச்சு விட்டாள். “ஆம், எங்கும் நல்ல செய்திதான். நம்ம வீட்டிலும் எப்போது நல்ல செய்தி வரும் என்று தெரியவில்லை.”

அந்த நேரத்தில் மும்பையிலிருந்து ராகேஷின் தொலைபேசி அழைப்பு வந்தது.

“அம்மா,” என்றான் அவன், “என் மூத்த மேலாளர் திருமணத்தை தள்ளிப் போட வேண்டாம் என்று அறிவுரை கூறினார். சரியான வயதில் திருமணம் செய்வது முக்கியம் என்றும் சொன்னார். தனது உறவுப் பெண்ணின் புகைப்படத்தை உங்களுக்கும் அப்பாவுக்கும் அனுப்பச் சொன்னார். அவருடைய ஆலோசனையை நான் மிகவும் மதிக்கிறேன். மேலும், நமது நிறுவனத்தின் புதிய பெங்களூர் கிளைக்கு என்னை மேலாளராக மாற்றியுள்ளனர்.”

ராமின் முகம் மகிழ்ச்சியில் மலர்ந்தது. இனிமேல் மகன் பெங்களூரில் அருகில் இருப்பான். ஆவலுடன் அவர் அனுப்பிய புகைப்படத்தைத் திறந்தார். பார்த்தவுடன் அவர் அதிர்ச்சியில் உறைந்தார். அது வேறு யாருமல்ல, அருணாதான்.

ராம் இன்னும் அந்த மகிழ்ச்சியிலிருந்து மீளாத நிலையில் இருந்தபோது, அப்பாராவ் கைப்பேசியுடன் அவசரமாக வீட்டிற்குள் வந்தார்.

“ராகேஷின் மேலாளர் மூலம் என் உறவினர் அனுப்பிய புகைப்படத்தை காட்ட வந்தேன்,” என்றார் ஆர்வமாக.

இரு நண்பர்களும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் ஆச்சரியத்துடன் பார்த்துக் கொண்டனர். ராம் அன்புடன் புன்னகைத்து,

“அப்பாராவ், நீங்கள் சொன்னது உண்மையாகிவிட்டது. தெரியாமலேயே நாமிருவர் சம்பந்திகளாகப் போகிறோம்!” என்றார்.

இரு குடும்பங்களும் மீண்டும் இனிப்புகளைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர். இம்முறை, அது விதி ஏற்படுத்திய அழகான உறவை கொண்டாடுவதற்காக.

Dad's Popularuty

Around a hundred close family members, business associates, and friends gathered in a beautifully decorated hall. Sanjay and Suma warmly welcomed the guests.

Then Suma stepped onto the stage and addressed everyone.

“Today is Mother’s Day, and it is also our mother’s 75th birthday. Our mother, Srimathi, never likes grand celebrations for herself. So we planned this surprise function without telling her. She is a wonderful woman known for her friendship, kindness, and helping nature. Today, we want to honor her and celebrate her life.”

Srimathi was overwhelmed with emotion. She had never imagined that her children would organize such a grand celebration for her.

Just then, a young lady walked forward with a bouquet.

“Happy Birthday, Madam,” she said respectfully. “I am Shobha, daughter of Mr. Sandeep. My father asked me to convey his wishes personally.”

Srimathi’s eyes lit up with joy. Sandeep had been her late husband’s close friend for many years. Even after all these years, the friendship and respect remained alive through the next generation.

Sanjay looked at Shobha in surprise. He had never expected that the young woman he met during the journey was connected to his family through his father’s friendship circle.

At that moment, he truly understood his father’s amazing popularity and the deep relationships he had built through kindness, trust, and goodwill.

Good old Movie.

 Recently, I watched the good old Kannada movie Bayalu Daari for the first time. The film, beautifully directed by the late director duo Dorai–Bhagavan, remains deeply touching and evergreen.

Anant Nag, Ashok, the late Kalpana, K. S. Ashwath, Balakrishna, Padma Kumta, and the rest of the cast delivered remarkable performances.

The crisp and meaningful dialogues by Chi. Udaya Shankar were impressive. The excellent cinematography by Chitti Babu, lilting music by Rajan–Nagendra, and neat editing by P. Bhaktavatsalam added immense value to the film.

Above all, the sensitive and heart-touching direction of Dorai–Bhagavan made the movie a timeless classic loved across generations. Despite being made nearly five decades ago, the movie still touches the hearts of audiences today.

அப்பாவின் புகழ்

அழகாக அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த மண்டபத்தில் சுமார் நூறு நெருங்கிய உறவினர்கள், வணிகத் தொடர்புகள் மற்றும் நண்பர்கள் ஒன்று கூடியிருந்தனர். சஞ்சய் மற்றும் சுமா அனைவரையும் அன்புடன் வரவேற்றனர்.

பின்னர் சுமா மேடைக்கு வந்து அனைவரையும் நோக்கி பேசத் தொடங்கினாள்.

“இன்று அன்னையர் தினம். அதே சமயம், எங்கள் அம்மா ஸ்ரீமதியின் 75வது பிறந்தநாளும் கூட. எங்கள் அம்மாவுக்கு தன்னைக்குறித்து பிரம்மாண்டமான விழாக்கள் பிடிக்காது. அதனால் அவருக்குத் தெரியாமல் இந்த ஆச்சரிய விழாவை நாங்கள் ஏற்பாடு செய்தோம். அவர் நட்பு மனப்பான்மை, கருணை, உதவும் குணம் ஆகியவற்றால் அனைவராலும் மதிக்கப்படும் அருமையான பெண். இன்று அவரை கௌரவித்து, அவரது வாழ்க்கையை கொண்டாட விரும்புகிறோம்.”

ஸ்ரீமதி உணர்ச்சியில் மூழ்கிப் போனார். தன்னுடைய பிள்ளைகள் இவ்வளவு பெரிய விழாவை தனக்காக ஏற்பாடு செய்வார்கள் என்று அவர் ஒருபோதும் நினைத்ததில்லை.

அந்த நேரத்தில், ஒரு இளம் பெண் பூங்கொத்துடன் முன்னே வந்தாள்.

“பிறந்தநாள் வாழ்த்துகள், மேடம்,” என்று மரியாதையுடன் கூறினாள். “நான் சந்தீப்பின் மகள் ஷோபா. என் அப்பா தங்களுக்கான வாழ்த்துகளை நேரில் தெரிவிக்கச் சொல்லி என்னை அனுப்பினார்.”

ஸ்ரீமதியின் கண்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியில் பிரகாசித்தன. சந்தீப், அவரது மறைந்த கணவரின் பல வருட நெருங்கிய நண்பர். இத்தனை ஆண்டுகள் கடந்தபின்பும், அந்த நட்பும் மரியாதையும் அடுத்த தலைமுறையிலும் தொடர்ந்து வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தது.

ஷோபாவை பார்த்த சஞ்சய் ஆச்சரியமடைந்தான். பயணத்தின் போது சந்தித்த அந்த இளம் பெண், தனது குடும்பத்துடன் தந்தையின் நட்பு வட்டத்தின் மூலம் தொடர்புடையவர் என்று அவன் ஒருபோதும் நினைத்ததில்லை.

 Dad’s Amazing Popularity

Sanjay was waiting in the lounge at Boston Airport for his flight to Chennai. The airport was crowded and busy. A young lady hurried in with her luggage, noticed the vacant seat beside him, and sat down.

Soon, the boarding announcement was made. Both of them moved toward the Business Class counter. Sanjay, who worked as a Project Head in a leading IT firm, was travelling to Chennai after receiving an unexpected call from his sister, Suma, the previous day.

“Sanjay, you must come,” she had said. “Sunday is Mom’s birthday, and we are planning something special.”

Sanjay loved and respected his mother deeply. She had sacrificed so much for his education and career, and he did not want to miss the occasion. He also valued his sister’s wishes and immediately booked his ticket.

His thoughts were interrupted when the young lady beside him said politely,

“Excuse me, this is your seat, right? My seat is next to yours. Would you mind if I sit here? I love window seats.”

Sanjay smiled and agreed.

“I am Shobha,” she introduced herself. “I’m travelling to Chennai.”

“I’m Sanjay,” he replied. “I’m also going to Chennai.”

After settling down, Shobha spoke softly.

“My visit is very sudden. My father requested me to attend the birthday celebration of a noble man’s wife. That family helped my dad in many ways years ago. Though the gentleman is no more, my father still continues the friendship and gratitude by attending their family functions. This time, my father has gone to Singapore to stay with my brother, so he asked me to represent him. Since I was planning to visit Chennai next week anyway, I agreed to come early.”

During the long journey, including the aircraft change at Frankfurt, Sanjay and Shobha had pleasant conversations and became good friends.

After reaching Chennai, they exchanged phone numbers before departing.

Sunday arrived.

அப்பாவின் அற்புதமான புகழ்

சஞ்சய், சென்னைக்குச் செல்லும் தனது விமானத்திற்காக பாஸ்டன் விமான நிலையத்தின் ஓய்வு அறையில் காத்திருந்தான். விமான நிலையம் கூட்டம் நிறைந்தும் பரபரப்பாகவும் இருந்தது. ஒரு இளம் பெண் தனது பயணப்பைகளுடன் அவசரமாக வந்து, அவன் அருகில் காலியாக இருந்த இருக்கையை கவனித்து அமர்ந்தாள்.

சிறிது நேரத்தில், விமானத்தில் ஏறுவதற்கான அறிவிப்பு வெளியானது. இருவரும் பிஸினஸ் கிளாஸ் கவுண்டருக்குச் சென்றனர். ஒரு முன்னணி ஐ.டி நிறுவனத்தில் திட்டத் தலைவராக வேலை பார்த்து வந்த சஞ்சய், முந்தைய நாள் தனது சகோதரி சுமாவிடமிருந்து வந்த எதிர்பாராத தொலைபேசி அழைப்பின் காரணமாக சென்னைக்குப் பயணம் செய்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

“சஞ்சய், நீ கட்டாயம் வர வேண்டும்,” என்று அவள் கூறியிருந்தாள்.

“நான் சென்னைக்குப் போகிறேன்.”

“நான் சஞ்சய்,” என்று அவன் பதிலளித்தான்.

“நானும் சென்னைக்குத்தான் செல்கிறேன்.”

இருவரும் வசதியாக அமர்ந்தபின், ஷோபா மெதுவாகப் பேசத் தொடங்கினாள்.

“என்னுடைய இந்தப் பயணம் திடீரென்று முடிவானது. என் அப்பா, ஒரு உயர்ந்த மனிதரின் மனைவியின் பிறந்தநாள் விழாவில் கலந்து கொள்ளுமாறு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார். பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு அந்தக் குடும்பம் என் அப்பாவுக்கு பல உதவிகள் செய்திருந்தது. அந்த நல்லவர் இப்போது உயிருடன் இல்லை. ஆனாலும், என் அப்பா அவர்களிடம் கொண்ட நன்றியுணர்வையும் நட்பையும் குடும்ப நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் கலந்து கொள்வதன் மூலம் தொடர்ந்து வெளிப்படுத்தி வருகிறார். இந்த முறை, என் அப்பா என் அண்ணனுடன் சிங்கப்பூரில் தங்கியிருக்கிறார். அதனால், அவருக்குப் பதிலாக நான் செல்லும்படி கேட்டார். அடுத்த வாரமே நான் சென்னை வர திட்டமிட்டிருந்ததால், கொஞ்சம் முன்னதாகவே வர சம்மதித்தேன்.”

Facing the Consequences is an Art.

Hearing the news, Keshav rushed to Kollegal immediately. Seeing Kalpana in pain broke his heart. The doctor informed him that her recovery would take at least three months and advised shifting her to a hospital in Mysore for better treatment.

The next day, while traveling to Mysore by car, another vehicle crashed into them, causing heavy damage to the car. Fortunately, both of them escaped safely.

For the next three months, Keshav stayed beside Kalpana, taking leave from duty without pay. He cared for her patiently until she slowly recovered and returned to normal life.

One evening, Kalpana looked at him emotionally and said, “Thank you for your patience and for taking such good care of me.”

Keshav smiled gently and whispered, “In life, one should learn to face difficult situations. Instead of spending our honeymoon at a beautiful place, I spent those days with you in the hospital — and still, I was happy because I was with you.”

Tears of gratitude filled Kalpana’s eyes.

“I am very lucky to have you,” she said softly. “I pray that even in my next birth, you will come back as my husband.”

Keshav happily hugged her, and both realized that true love is not only about sharing joyful moments, but also about standing together during life’s hardest times.

அந்த செய்தியை கேட்டவுடன், கேஷவ் உடனே கொல்லேகாலுக்கு விரைந்தான். வலியால் தவித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த கல்பனாவைப் பார்த்ததும் அவன் மனம் உடைந்தது. மருத்துவர், அவள் முழுமையாக குணமடைய குறைந்தது மூன்று மாதங்கள் ஆகும் என்றும், மேலான சிகிச்சைக்காக அவளை மைசூரிலுள்ள மருத்துவமனைக்கு மாற்ற வேண்டும் என்றும் அறிவுறுத்தினார்.

அடுத்த நாள், அவர்கள் காரில் மைசூருக்குப் பயணம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தபோது, எதிரே வந்த மற்றொரு வாகனம் மோதி விபத்து ஏற்பட்டது. கார் பெரிதும் சேதமடைந்தாலும், அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக இருவரும் உயிர் தப்பினர்.

அடுத்த மூன்று மாதங்கள், கேஷவ் தனது வேலையில் சம்பளமில்லா விடுப்பு எடுத்து, கல்பனாவின் அருகிலேயே இருந்தான். அவள் மெதுவாக குணமடைந்து இயல்பு வாழ்க்கைக்கு திரும்பும் வரை, மிகுந்த பொறுமையுடனும் அன்புடனும் அவளை கவனித்துக் கொண்டான்.

ஒரு மாலை, உணர்ச்சிவசப்பட்ட கல்பனா அவனை நோக்கி,

“உங்கள் பொறுமைக்கும், என்னை இவ்வளவு அன்பாக கவனித்துக் கொண்டதற்கும் நன்றி,” என்றாள்.

கேஷவ் மெதுவாக புன்னகைத்து,

“வாழ்க்கையில் கடினமான சூழ்நிலைகளை எதிர்கொள்ள கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். அழகான இடத்தில் தேனிலவு கொண்டாட வேண்டிய நாட்களை, நான் உன்னுடன் மருத்துவமனையில் கழித்தேன். ஆனாலும், நீ என்னுடன் இருந்ததால் நான் மகிழ்ச்சியாகத்தான் இருந்தேன்,” என்றான்.

நன்றியால் கல்பனாவின் கண்கள் கண்ணீரால் நிரம்பின.

“உங்களைப் போன்ற கணவர் கிடைத்தது என் அதிர்ஷ்டம்,” என்று மெதுவாக சொன்னாள்.

“அடுத்த பிறவியிலும் நீங்களே என் கணவராக வர வேண்டும் என்று நான் இறைவனை வேண்டிக்கொள்கிறேன்.”

மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கேஷவ் அவளை அணைத்துக்கொண்டான். அந்த நொடியில், உண்மையான காதல் என்பது மகிழ்ச்சியான தருணங்களை மட்டும் பகிர்வது அல்ல; வாழ்க்கையின் மிகக் கடினமான நேரங்களிலும் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் துணையாக நிற்பதுதான் என்பதை இருவரும் உணர்ந்தனர்.

Keshav had completed his Senior House Surgeon training and was posted as a Medical Officer at the Primary Health Centre in Poongulam village in Mysore district. His parents lived in Hassan, and he had studied at Mysore Medical College, where he earned many credentials. During his college days, he stayed in the hostel and often ate outside.

One evening, while dining at a restaurant, he met Kalpana. She was charming, pleasant, and had recently completed her Nursing course and was waiting for her posting. That day, Keshav realized he had forgotten his wallet. Kalpana, who had seen him earlier at the college, kindly paid the bill for him. The next day, he returned the money to her through GPay.

That small incident became the beginning of their friendship. While exchanging messages regarding the payment, they started chatting on WhatsApp. To their surprise, many of their likes and dislikes were similar. Within a month, they became close friends and gradually developed feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, Kalpana’s parents moved to Hassan because her father was a government employee. Around the same time, Keshav received his posting order to Poongulam and joined duty there. Every day, they spent at least thirty minutes chatting and whispering Kannada and Hindi songs to each other over the phone.

A month later, one morning, Keshav reached the hospital a little late because his vehicle had broken down on the way. As he entered, he noticed a large crowd of patients standing in the queue. A nurse in a white uniform was distributing tablets and instructing the patients efficiently, but he could not see her face clearly.

When he entered his room, he was shocked and delighted to see Kalpana standing there.

“Hey! How come you are here?” he asked excitedly.

She smiled warmly. “I got posted here. Today is my joining day. I wanted to surprise you.”

After finishing the outpatient work, Keshav took her to his quarters and offered her biscuits and sweets. Kalpana whispered happily, “It is God’s blessing that I got posted here. Now I can see my dear every day.”

Keshav then told her, “I spoke to my parents about us, and they have agreed to our marriage.”

Kalpana smiled shyly. “My parents have also given their permission.”

A month later, their marriage was celebrated gracefully in Hassan. After the wedding, they returned to Poongulam and resumed their duties happily.

However, fate had other plans.

Soon, Kalpana received a deputation posting to Kollegal and moved there temporarily. A week later, Keshav received a shocking message from her. She had met with an accident in the marketplace when a car hit her. She suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the hospital.

கேஷவ் தனது சீனியர் ஹவுஸ் சர்ஜன் பயிற்சியை முடித்துவிட்டு, மைசூர் மாவட்டத்தின் பூங்குளம் கிராமத்தில் உள்ள ஆரம்ப சுகாதார நிலையத்தில் மருத்துவ அதிகாரியாக பணியில் சேர்ந்தார். அவரது பெற்றோர் ஹாசனில் வசித்து வந்தனர். அவர் மைசூர் மருத்துவக் கல்லூரியில் படித்து பல சாதனைகள் பெற்றிருந்தார். கல்லூரி நாட்களில் அவர் விடுதியில் தங்கி, அடிக்கடி வெளியில் உணவருந்துவார்.

ஒரு மாலை, ஒரு உணவகத்தில் சாப்பிட்டு கொண்டிருந்தபோது, அவர் கல்பனாவை சந்தித்தார். அவள் அழகானவளும் இனிமையான குணமுடையவளும். சமீபத்தில் நர்சிங் படிப்பை முடித்திருந்த அவள், பணி நியமனத்திற்காக காத்திருந்தாள். அந்த நாள் கேஷவ் தன் பணப்பையை மறந்துவிட்டதை உணர்ந்தார். கல்லூரியில் முன்பே அவரைக் கண்டிருந்த கல்பனா, அன்புடன் அவரது உணவுக்கட்டணத்தை செலுத்தினாள். மறுநாள், கேஷவ் அந்த பணத்தை ஜிபே மூலம் அவளுக்கு திருப்பி அனுப்பினார்.

அவர் தனது அறைக்குள் சென்றதும், அங்கே நின்றிருந்த கல்பனாவைக் கண்டு அதிர்ச்சியுடனும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் பார்த்தார்.

“ஹேய்! நீ எப்படி இங்கே வந்தாய்?” என்று உற்சாகமாக கேட்டார்.

அவள் புன்னகையுடன்,

“எனக்கு இங்கே பணி நியமனம் கிடைத்தது. இன்று தான் நான் பணியில் சேரும் நாள். உனக்கு ஒரு சர்ப்ரைஸ் கொடுக்க நினைத்தேன்,” என்றாள்.

வெளிநோயாளர் பணிகள் முடிந்த பிறகு, கேஷவ் அவளை தனது குடியிருப்புக்கு அழைத்து சென்று பிஸ்கட்டும் இனிப்புகளும் கொடுத்தார். கல்பனா மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் மெதுவாக,

“நான் இங்கே பணி நியமனம் பெற்றது கடவுளின் ஆசீர்வாதம். இனிமேல் என் அன்புக்குரியவரை தினமும் பார்க்கலாம்,” என்றாள்.

அப்போது கேஷவ் கூறினார்:

“நம்மைப் பற்றி நான் என் பெற்றோரிடம் பேசினேன். அவர்கள் நம் திருமணத்திற்கு சம்மதம் தெரிவித்துவிட்டார்கள்.”

கல்பனா வெட்கத்துடன் புன்னகைத்து,

“என் பெற்றோரும் சம்மதம் சொல்லிவிட்டார்கள்,” என்றாள்.

ஒரு மாதத்திற்கு பிறகு, ஹாசனில் அவர்கள் திருமணம் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது. திருமணத்திற்குப் பிறகு, அவர்கள் பூங்குளத்திற்கு திரும்பி மகிழ்ச்சியாக தங்கள் பணியைத் தொடர்ந்தனர்.

ஆனால் விதி வேறு திட்டம் வைத்திருந்தது.

சில நாட்களில், கல்பனாவுக்கு கோல்லேகாலுக்கு தற்காலிக பணிமாற்றம் கிடைத்தது. அவள் அங்கு சென்றாள். ஒரு வாரம் கழித்து, கேஷவுக்கு அவளிடமிருந்து அதிர்ச்சியூட்டும் செய்தி வந்தது. சந்தையில் நடந்து கொண்டிருந்தபோது ஒரு கார் மோதியதில், கல்பனா கடுமையாக காயமடைந்து மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தாள்.

Good old Movie.

Nanendu Nimmavane is another good old Kannada movie that I watched recently for the first time. It stars the late Loknath, Vishnuvardhan and   SriShanthy,Ramesh Bhat,Vaishali Kasaravalli also played an excellent supporting role.

The lilting music by Rajan–Nagendra, neat editing by Suresh Urs, and beautiful cinematography by Manjunath add greatly to the film’s charm. Above all, the movie is handled with fine suspense and sensitivity by the amazing director Phani Ramachandra.

Despite being made more than three decades ago, the film still feels very clean, engaging, and refined. Its storytelling, performances, and emotional depth continue to hold up remarkably well even today.

பராகா அணுமின் நிலையத் தாக்குதலைக் கண்டித்து

மே 20 அன்று வெளியான அட்லா மஸ்ஸூத் எழுதிய “Attacks against nuclear plants a red line, UAE envoy to the UN says” என்ற கட்டுரையை ஒட்டி இந்தக் கடிதத்தை எழுதுகிறேன்.

இந்த வாரம் United Nations Security Council கூட்டத்தில், பராகா அணுமின் நிலையம் அருகே நடத்தப்பட்ட ட்ரோன் தாக்குதலை ஐக்கிய அரபு அமீரகம் சரியான முறையில் கண்டித்துள்ளது. இது தனது தேசிய நலன்களை — குறிப்பாக அந்நாட்டில் வாழும் மக்களின் பாதுகாப்பை — உறுதிப்படுத்தும் நடவடிக்கையாகும்.

இத்தகைய தாக்குதல் நடவடிக்கைகள் பிராந்திய நிலைத்தன்மைக்கு பாதகமானவை; மேலும் ஏற்கனவே நிலவி வரும் பதற்றங்களை மேலும் தீவிரப்படுத்தக்கூடும். எதிர்காலத்தில் இவ்வாறான தாக்குதல்களைத் தடுக்க பாதுகாப்பு கவுன்சில் தகுந்த நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கும் என்று நம்புகிறேன்.

Condemning Barakah attack

I write in reference to Adla Massoud's article Attacks against nuclear plants a red line UAE envoy to the UN says(May 20);the UAE rightly condemned the drone strikenear the Barakahnuclear power plant , at the UN Security Council this week.It is protecting its national interests -which include ensuring the safety of its residents .Such acts of aggression are detrimental to regional stability and could further escalate already -existing tensions.I hope the Security Council will act to deter such strikes in the future.

Blogger’s Encounter

Vasanthi received a call from her friend Anupama.

“Hello, how are you? My daughter Shubha has received an offer from a leading newspaper as the Editor-in-Charge of the entertainment column. She wants to seek blessings and advice from your husband Ram.”

“That is wonderful news,” said Vasanthi happily. “When is she joining?”

“She will be joining next week. I will ask her to meet Ram tomorrow evening.”

Ram was well known for his popular blog, which he had built patiently over many years. Though he worked professionally as a mechanical engineer, writing was his true passion. At the age of fifty-five, he was still smart and energetic. His wife Vasanthi, aged fifty, was equally graceful and supportive. Their only son, aged twenty-five, worked in a leading multinational finance company.

Ram overheard the conversation and felt happy that Shubha was beginning her career in journalism. He was pleased that she wanted his guidance.

The next evening, Ram returned early from the office and waited for Shubha’s visit.

Shubha, a pleasant and confident twenty-three-year-old, had completed her M.A. in English along with Journalism and Communication studies. She arrived at 6 p.m. and was warmly welcomed by Vasanthi with tea and snacks. Shubha also brought homemade sweets for them.

After a few casual conversations, Shubha said, “Uncle, I need your advice because my new assignment involves writing reviews and comments, mostly about films in different languages.”

Ram smiled and replied, “That is a very good opportunity, Shubha. You already have the educational background and understand the basics of journalism. Always remember one thing — your reviews and comments must remain neutral and honest. Never allow bias, favoritism, or outside influence to affect your writing.”

He continued, “A reviewer should study deeply before expressing opinions. Appreciate genuine talent wherever you see it. Readers value sincerity and balanced judgment. If you maintain integrity in your work, you will earn a good name for yourself and for your newspaper.”

Shubha listened carefully and felt inspired by his words.

“Thank you, Uncle. Your advice means a lot to me,” she said gratefully.

Ram blessed her and wished her a bright future in the world of journalism.

Shubha left the house feeling happy and motivated after receiving guidance from the versatile and respected blogger.

வசந்திக்கு தனது தோழி அனுபமாவிடமிருந்து ஒரு தொலைபேசி அழைப்பு வந்தது.

“ஹலோ, எப்படி இருக்கிறாய்? என் மகள் சுபாவுக்கு ஒரு முன்னணி செய்தித்தாளில் பொழுதுபோக்கு பிரிவின் ஆசிரியர் பொறுப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவள் உன் கணவர் ராமை சந்தித்து ஆசீர்வாதமும் ஆலோசனையும் பெற விரும்புகிறாள்,” என்றார் அனுபமா.

“அது மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியான செய்தி,” என்று வசந்தி சந்தோஷமாகச் சொன்னாள். “அவள் எப்போது பணியில் சேர்கிறாள்?”

“அடுத்த வாரம் சேரப் போகிறாள். நாளை மாலை ராமை சந்திக்கச் சொல்கிறேன்,” என்றார் அனுபமா.

ராம் தனது பிரபலமான வலைப்பதிவின் மூலம் பல ஆண்டுகளாக நல்ல பெயரைப் பெற்றிருந்தார். தொழில்முறையில் அவர் ஒரு இயந்திரப் பொறியாளராக இருந்தாலும், எழுத்து அவருடைய உண்மையான ஆர்வமாக இருந்தது. ஐம்பத்தைந்து வயதிலும் அவர் சுறுசுறுப்பாகவும் புத்துணர்ச்சியுடனும் இருந்தார். அவரது மனைவி வசந்தி, ஐம்பது வயதிலும் அதேபோல் அழகும் ஆதரவான மனப்பான்மையும் கொண்டவராக இருந்தாள். அவர்களுடைய ஒரே மகன், இருபத்தைந்து வயதுடையவர், ஒரு முன்னணி பன்னாட்டு நிதி நிறுவனத்தில் பணிபுரிந்தார்.

இந்த உரையாடலை ராம் கேட்டு மகிழ்ந்தார். சுபா பத்திரிகைத் துறையில் தனது வாழ்க்கையைத் தொடங்குவது அவருக்கு பெருமையாக இருந்தது. மேலும், அவள் தன்னிடம் வழிகாட்டுதல் கேட்க விரும்பியது அவரை மகிழ்ச்சியடையச் செய்தது.

அடுத்த நாள் மாலை, ராம் அலுவலகத்திலிருந்து சீக்கிரமே வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, சுபாவின் வருகைக்காக காத்திருந்தார்.

ஆங்கில இலக்கியத்தில் முதுகலைப் பட்டமும், இதழியல் மற்றும் தொடர்பியல் படிப்பும் முடித்திருந்த இருபத்துமூன்று வயதுடைய தன்னம்பிக்கையுள்ள இனிய இளம்பெண் சுபா, மாலை ஆறு மணிக்கு வந்தாள். வசந்தி அவளை அன்புடன் வரவேற்று, தேநீரும் சிற்றுண்டியும் வழங்கினாள். சுபாவும் வீட்டில் தயாரித்த இனிப்புகளை கொண்டு வந்திருந்தாள்.

சில சாதாரண உரையாடல்களின் பின்னர், சுபா கூறினாள்:

“மாமா, எனக்கு உங்கள் ஆலோசனை தேவை. என் புதிய பொறுப்பில் பல மொழித் திரைப்படங்களைப் பற்றிய விமர்சனங்களும் கருத்துகளும் எழுத வேண்டியுள்ளது.”

ராம் புன்னகையுடன் பதிலளித்தார்:

“அது மிகவும் நல்ல வாய்ப்பு, சுபா. உனக்கு ஏற்கனவே நல்ல கல்விப் பின்னணியும் இதழியலின் அடிப்படை அறிவும் இருக்கின்றன. எப்போதும் ஒரு விஷயத்தை நினைவில் வைத்துக் கொள் — உன் விமர்சனங்களும் கருத்துகளும் நடுநிலையாகவும் நேர்மையாகவும் இருக்க வேண்டும். சார்புநிலை, பாரபட்சம் அல்லது வெளிப்புற அழுத்தம் எதுவும் உன் எழுத்தை பாதிக்க அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது.”

அவர் தொடர்ந்து கூறினார்:

GoodMovie.

 Another good movie, Ganesha I Love You, which I watched today. Anant Nag, Sithara, Girija Lokesh, and the late Loknath gave memorable performances. This Ganesha was different from the other Ganesha characters usually seen in films.

Phani Ramachandra’s another good twist-filled story was very nice. Manjunath’s framework, Rajesh Ramanath’s music, and the able direction of Phani Ramachandra were admirable.

Surprise Bus Encounter

Hearing the conductor’s voice, Ram, who was sitting in the front row of the bus, turned back. The conductor was asking an old man of about sixty-five years for his ticket money. Ram walked towards him and was surprised to see that it was his uncle, Keshav.

Keshav was telling the conductor, “I forgot to bring my wallet.”

Ram greeted his uncle warmly, paid for the ticket, and sat beside him. Keshav had helped Ram greatly during his college days by supporting his studies, and Ram always respected him deeply.

Keshav said softly, “Today, in a hurry, I forgot both my wallet and my mobile phone at home.”

Ram took him to his clinic, ordered tea for him, and said, “Uncle, luckily my car is in service today, so I came by bus. Otherwise, I would never have seen you.”

After examining him, Ram found that everything was normal. Then Keshav whispered, “This morning I received a message from my old friend Murthy’s daughter, Rachana. She said Murthy, who worked with me in the bank years ago, has started showing symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and has become very forgetful. Hearing that upset me so much that, without telling anyone, I left home to visit him. Smitha thought I had only gone for a walk inside the apartment complex. In my confusion, I forgot to take my wallet and mobile phone.”

Ram immediately called Smitha and said, “Don’t worry about searching for Dad. He is with me. I will bring him home in an hour after seeing my patients.”

Smitha was surprised to hear that her father was at Ram’s clinic.

பேருந்தின் முன் இருக்கையில் அமர்ந்திருந்த ராம், கண்டக்டரின் குரலைக் கேட்டு திரும்பிப் பார்த்தான். சுமார் அறுபத்தைந்து வயதுள்ள ஒரு முதியவரிடம் டிக்கெட் பணம் கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தார் கண்டக்டர். ராம் அருகே சென்று பார்த்தபோது, அவர் தனது மாமா கேஷவ் என்பதை அறிந்து ஆச்சரியமடைந்தான்.

“பணப்பையை வீட்டிலேயே மறந்து விட்டேன்,” என்று கேஷவ் கண்டக்டரிடம் கூறிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

ராம் அன்புடன் மாமாவை வரவேற்று, டிக்கெட் பணம் கட்டிவிட்டு அவரருகில் அமர்ந்தான். கல்லூரி நாட்களில் தனது படிப்பிற்கு பெரிய உதவி செய்தவர் கேஷவ் என்பதால், ராம் அவரை மிகவும் மதித்தான்.

கேஷவ் மெதுவாக,

“இன்று அவசரத்தில் பணப்பையும் கைப்பேசியும் வீட்டிலேயே மறந்து விட்டேன்,” என்றார்.

ராம் அவரை தனது கிளினிக்கிற்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று தேநீர் வரவழைத்து,

“மாமா, நல்லவேளை இன்று என் கார் சர்வீஸுக்கு சென்றிருந்தது. அதனால் தான் பேருந்தில் வந்தேன். இல்லையென்றால் உங்களை சந்திக்கவே முடியாமல் போயிருக்கும்,” என்றான்.

பரிசோதித்துப் பார்த்த ராம், அவருக்கு எந்த உடல்நலப் பிரச்சினையும் இல்லை என்பதை கண்டான். பின்னர் கேஷவ் மெதுவாகச் சொன்னார்:

“இன்று காலை என் பழைய நண்பர் மூர்த்தியின் மகள் ரச்சனா ஒரு செய்தி அனுப்பியிருந்தாள். பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் வங்கியில் என்னுடன் வேலை செய்த மூர்த்திக்கு அல்சைமர் நோயின் அறிகுறிகள் ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டதாகவும், அவர் மிகவும் மறதியுடன் இருப்பதாகவும் கூறினாள். அதை கேட்டதும் மனம் மிகவும் கலங்கிவிட்டது. வீட்டில் யாரிடமும் சொல்லாமல் அவரை பார்க்க கிளம்பிவிட்டேன். ஸ்மிதா நான் அடுக்குமாடி வளாகத்திற்குள் நடைப்பயிற்சிக்குச் சென்றிருப்பேன் என்று நினைத்திருக்கலாம். அந்த குழப்பத்தில் பணப்பையும் கைப்பேசியும் எடுத்துச் செல்ல மறந்து விட்டேன்.”

உடனே ராம் ஸ்மிதாவுக்கு தொலைபேசியில் அழைத்து,

“அப்பாவைத் தேடி கவலைப்பட வேண்டாம். அவர் என்னுடன் இருக்கிறார். நோயாளிகளை பார்த்துவிட்டு இன்னும் ஒரு மணி நேரத்தில் வீட்டிற்கு கொண்டு வருகிறேன்,” என்றான்.

தன் தந்தை ராமின் கிளினிக்கில் இருப்பதாகக் கேட்டு ஸ்மிதா ஆச்சரியமடைந்தாள்.

சரியாக ஒரு மணி நேரத்திற்கு பிறகு, ராம் மாமா கேஷவை வீட்டிற்கு அழைத்து வந்தான். நடந்த அனைத்தையும் ஸ்மிதாவிடம் விளக்கி,

“இன்று மாலை மாமாவை அவரது நண்பர் மூர்த்தியைப் பார்க்க அழைத்து செல்லுங்கள். அவரை சந்தித்தால் மனதிற்கு கொஞ்சம் நிம்மதி கிடைக்கும்,” என்று அறிவுறுத்தினான்.

ஸ்மிதா தயார் செய்த சுவையான தேநீரை அருந்திய பிறகு, ராம் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் ஆட்டோவில் வீட்டிற்கு திரும்பிக் கொண்டே,

“இன்று என் கார் சர்வீஸுக்கு சென்றது நல்லதாயிற்றே!” என்று தனக்குத்தானே மெதுவாகச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டான்.

Kothai and her husband, Sundar, went to visit her ailing aunt after her knee surgery at her home. Sundar gently asked, “Auntie, how are you feeling now?”

Aunt Lakshmi smiled and replied, “I am fine. Slowly, the pain is reducing.”

Her husband, Madhavan, added happily, “She is much better now.”

Kothai asked, “Auntie, which doctor performed the surgery?”

“Dr. Sudharsan,” Lakshmi replied. “He is a famous surgeon for knee surgeries and has a very good reputation.”

Kothai said, “I too have a knee problem,” and handed over a box full of sweets and fruits.

Lakshmi smiled and said, “Why did you bring so much, Kothai? Here, there are only the two of us. Supraja and the children are in Melbourne. We cannot take much.”

After enjoying a delicious lunch prepared by Aunt Lakshmi, Kothai and Sundar made namaskaram by prostrating on the ground before Lakshmi and Madhavan.

Lakshmi blessed them both for a good, healthy, and peaceful life. She then whispered softly, “At the age of seventy-five, I underwent surgery on both knees. With the blessings of Sudarshana, I am much more comfortable now.”

Kothai understood that her aunt was referring to her favorite deity, whose blessings had worked through the doctor.

While returning home in the car, Kothai said, “Many people frightened Auntie and advised her not to go for surgery. But she was bold enough to face it. Now I can see how happy she is, with her pain greatly relieved.”

கோதையும், அவரது கணவர் சுந்தரும், முழங்கால் அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்து உடல்நலக் குறைவில் இருந்த கோதையின் அத்தையை அவரது வீட்டில் சென்று பார்த்தார்கள்.

சுந்தர் மெதுவாகக் கேட்டார்:

“அத்தை, இப்போது எப்படி இருக்கிறீர்கள்?”

அத்தை லக்ஷ்மி புன்னகையுடன் பதிலளித்தார்:

“நன்றாக இருக்கிறேன். மெதுவாக வலி குறைந்து வருகிறது.”

அவரது கணவர் மாதவன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறினார்:

“இப்போது மிகவும் பரவாயில்லை.”

கோதை கேட்டாள்:

“அத்தை, அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்த மருத்துவர் யார்?”

லக்ஷ்மி பதிலளித்தார்:

“டாக்டர் சுதர்சன். முழங்கால் அறுவை சிகிச்சையில் மிகவும் பிரபலமான மருத்துவர். அவருக்கு நல்ல பெயரும் உள்ளது.”

கோதை கூறினாள்:

“எனக்கும் முழங்காலில் பிரச்சினை இருக்கிறது,” என்று சொல்லி இனிப்புகளும் பழங்களும் நிறைந்த பெட்டியை கொடுத்தாள்.

லக்ஷ்மி சிரித்துக்கொண்டு கூறினார்:

“எதற்கு இவ்வளவு கொண்டு வந்தாய், கோதை? இங்கே நாங்கள் இருவரே இருக்கிறோம். சுப்ரஜாவும் குழந்தைகளும் மெல்போர்னில் இருக்கிறார்கள். எங்களால் இவ்வளவு சாப்பிட முடியாது.”

அத்தை லக்ஷ்மி அன்புடன் தயாரித்த சுவையான மதிய உணவை உண்ட பிறகு, கோதையும் சுந்தரும் தரையில் முழங்கால் விழுந்து நமஸ்காரம் செய்து லக்ஷ்மிக்கும் மாதவனுக்கும் வணங்கினர்.

Sangeetha came to Uncle Ram’s house after a year. She had been away from Bengaluru, staying in New Zealand with her only daughter, Reshma, and had recently returned. Ram was delighted to welcome his favorite niece, a versatile journalist. Her husband, Sanjay, was a doctor.

Sangeetha brought sweet boxes and chocolates, and Ram’s wife, Suganthi, thanked her warmly. Suganthi happily shared that her grandson had secured admission with merit to a prestigious university in New Zealand after completing his 12th grade there.

Ram smiled and said, “Good to know, Sangeetha. You are the third person today bringing good news about admissions. Earlier, one friend shared news about his daughter’s graduation and her plans for higher studies in Law, and another friend told me his grandson had secured admission to RV Engineering College here in Bengaluru. All this makes me very happy.”

Suganthi whispered to Sangeetha, “You both must stay for lunch. Call Sanjay too. Since you informed Ram yesterday about your visit, it was easy for me to prepare your favorite Badam Halwa and Kesari.”

After reminiscing about old memorable days, Sanjay arrived for lunch. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal prepared by Suganthi. Just then, her son Rohan called from Dubai, where he was studying Supply Chain Management, and conveyed his wishes to everyone.

Ram said thoughtfully, “Today has been a happy day for me. Hearing about promotions and admissions of my friends’ children gives me joy. In today’s competitive world, children are becoming very smart and intelligent.”

Sanjay nodded and said, “Former IB officer Ram is always correct.”

ஒரு வருடத்திற்கு பிறகு சங்கீதா, மாமா ராமின் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தாள். அவள் பெங்களூருவை விட்டு, தனது ஒரே மகள் ரேஷ்மாவுடன் நியூசிலாந்தில் தங்கி இருந்து, சமீபத்தில் திரும்பி வந்திருந்தாள். பல்துறை திறமை கொண்ட பத்திரிகையாளரான தனது அன்பு மருமகளை வரவேற்க ராம் மிகவும் மகிழ்ந்தார். அவளின் கணவர் சஞ்சய் ஒரு மருத்துவர்.

சங்கீதா இனிப்பு பெட்டிகளையும் சாக்லேட்டுகளையும் கொண்டு வந்தாள். ராமின் மனைவி சுகந்தி அதற்காக அன்புடன் நன்றி தெரிவித்தாள். தனது பேரன், நியூசிலாந்தில் 12ஆம் வகுப்பை முடித்த பிறகு, அங்குள்ள ஒரு புகழ்பெற்ற பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் திறமையின் அடிப்படையில் சேர்க்கை பெற்றிருப்பதை சுகந்தி மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பகிர்ந்தாள்.

God’s Willingness

Rekha reached the house of Nandhitha to attend the Grahapravesam function. Nandhitha, a retired teacher and a versatile Kannada and English writer, had won many accolades for her wonderful literary creations. Her only son was settled in Singapore, and her husband had passed away during the COVID period.

For many years, Nandhitha had been living alone in a one-bedroom apartment near the Gubbalala area. Though Rekha had often advised her to move to a bigger and more comfortable place, especially since she received both her pension and her late husband’s benefits, Nandhitha had always refused firmly. She loved her neighbours and did not wish to leave the familiar surroundings.

When Rekha arrived at the new apartment complex, she was surprised to see that Nandhitha had purchased a spacious three-bedroom flat. A few close friends had already gathered there. Nandhitha warmly welcomed everyone and served sweets and snacks.

After a while, she addressed her friends.

“My dear friends, all of you must be wondering why I suddenly shifted here. Honestly, it was not entirely my decision. A well-known builder, who recently acquired the rights to adapt one of my stories into films in several languages, generously offered me this apartment. He also assured me that he would take care of the maintenance charges for the rest of my life. Such kindness touched my heart, and I felt it was God’s will that I accept this blessing.

“Moreover, next year my granddaughter will be coming here for her studies and wishes to stay with me. Everything has happened at the right time.”

Rekha happily applauded her friend’s decision. Deep within, she felt delighted that Nandhitha had finally fulfilled her long-pending wish of moving into a better home. More than that, she felt happy that Nandhitha would soon have the joyful company of her granddaughter.

After a delicious lunch, which included three varieties of sweets, the guests departed cheerfully, each carrying a precious gift — a beautiful idol of a deity presented by the versatile writer, Nandhitha.

கிரகப்பிரவேச விழாவில் கலந்து கொள்ள ரேகா, நந்திதாவின் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தாள். ஓய்வு பெற்ற ஆசிரியையுமான நந்திதா, திறமையான கன்னட மற்றும் ஆங்கில எழுத்தாளரும் ஆவார். தனது அற்புதமான இலக்கிய படைப்புகளுக்காக பல விருதுகளையும் பாராட்டுகளையும் பெற்றிருந்தார். அவருடைய ஒரே மகன் சிங்கப்பூரில் வசித்து வந்தான். அவரது கணவர், கொரோனா காலத்தில் உயிரிழந்திருந்தார்.

Today I am going to pay tribute to the versatile director from the Sandalwood film industry who created a huge impact through his television serial Danda Pindagalu decades ago, along with many memorable family entertainers filled with humor and emotion — none other than Phani Ramachandra.

As a writer and director, Phani Ramachandra carved a special place in Kannada cinema and television with his unique storytelling style, clean comedy, and strong family values. His films, especially the popular “Ganesha” series featuring stalwarts Anant Nag and Ramesh Bhat, created a massive impact and continue to entertain audiences even today. Movies like Ganeshana Maduve, Ganesha Subramanya, and Ganeshana Galaate remain evergreen classics in Kannada cinema.

His films brought together many talented artists including Tara, Leelavathi, and several others who added life to his memorable characters and family-oriented narratives. Another noteworthy film was Doctor Krishna starring the late stalwart Vishnuvardhan, which is still appreciated by Kannada movie lovers.

Phani Ramachandra’s contribution to Kannada cinema and television will always be remembered for its simplicity, humor, emotional depth, and cultural connection with family audiences. His works continue to inspire generations and hold a special place in the hearts of Kannada viewers.

Followers’ Encounter

Keshav arrived at Chennai Railway Station to attend his friend Krishna’s 60th birthday celebration. As he got down from the train carrying a small bag, it suddenly slipped from his hand. Luckily, a young man quickly caught it before it slid under the compartment.

“Thank you, young man,” Keshav said with relief.

Keshav had retired as an editor from a leading newspaper. After retirement, he became very active on social media and transformed himself into a digital creator with thousands of followers. His only daughter, Vijaya, worked in a leading IT company in Bengaluru.

Keshav was visiting Chennai after three years because he did not want to miss Krishna’s special celebration. His wife, Ragini, had gone to Hubli for a relative’s wedding, so he had travelled alone. Krishna, who was three years junior to him in office, was still working.

“Hello, sir! How are you?” the young man asked politely.

He introduced himself. “I am Vijay, one of your followers on Facebook.”

Keshav smiled pleasantly.

“Where do you want to go, sir? I am going to Anna Nagar.”

“That’s wonderful! I am also going there,” Keshav replied and showed Krishna’s address on his mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Vijay showed his Facebook profile, and Keshav immediately recognized him.

During the cab ride, Vijay shared that he was working in a bank in Bengaluru and staying near Rajajinagar. Keshav was impressed by his humble nature and respectful behavior.

When they reached Krishna’s house, Krishna came out to welcome them warmly. The moment he saw Vijay, his face brightened.

“He is my nephew,” Krishna said happily. “He has also come for the function.”

Krishna’s wife, Vidya, welcomed them inside. After a delicious lunch, Keshav took some rest.

In the evening, Krishna spoke to Keshav privately.

“Keshav, if Vijaya and Vijay are compatible, why not think about their marriage?” he suggested.

Keshav smiled because the same thought had already crossed his mind after observing Vijay’s good character and family background. Since he knew Krishna’s family well, he felt confident about the proposal.

That evening, Keshav spoke with Vijay’s parents and shared Vijaya’s photograph with them. They happily agreed to the proposal.

When Vijaya saw Vijay’s photograph, she was surprised.

“Dad! We are already friends on Instagram!” she exclaimed happily.

The birthday celebration became even more joyful for both families. After attending the function, Keshav returned home with the wonderful news that his daughter’s marriage had been fixed with Vijay. Ragini was overjoyed too.

What had started as a simple meeting between a creator and his follower soon turned into a beautiful family bond.

பின்தொடர்பவரின் சந்திப்பு

கேஷவ் தனது நண்பர் கிருஷ்ணாவின் 60வது பிறந்தநாள் விழாவில் கலந்து கொள்ள சென்னை ரயில் நிலையத்திற்கு வந்தார். சிறிய பையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ரயிலில் இருந்து இறங்கியபோது, அது திடீரென்று அவரது கையிலிருந்து தவறி விழுந்தது. அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக, அருகில் இருந்த ஒரு இளைஞன் விரைவாக அதை பிடித்து, பெட்டியின் கீழே செல்லாமல் காப்பாற்றினான்.

“நன்றி, இளைஞரே,” என்று நிம்மதியுடன் கூறினார் கேஷவ்.

கேஷவ் ஒரு முன்னணி செய்தித்தாளில் ஆசிரியராக பணியாற்றி ஓய்வு பெற்றவர். ஓய்வுக்குப் பிறகு சமூக வலைதளங்களில் மிகவும் சுறுசுறுப்பாக செயல்பட்டு, ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பின்தொடர்பவர்களைக் கொண்ட டிஜிட்டல் படைப்பாளராக மாறியிருந்தார். அவரின் ஒரே மகள் விஜயா, பெங்களூருவிலுள்ள ஒரு முன்னணி ஐ.டி நிறுவனத்தில் வேலை பார்த்து வந்தாள்.

கிருஷ்ணாவின் சிறப்பு விழாவை தவறவிட விரும்பாததால், மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு சென்னை வந்திருந்தார் கேஷவ். அவரது மனைவி ராகிணி, உறவினர் திருமணத்திற்காக ஹூப்ளிக்குச் சென்றிருந்ததால், அவர் தனியாகவே பயணம் செய்தார். அலுவலகத்தில் தன்னைவிட மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் இளையவரான கிருஷ்ணா இன்னும் பணியில் இருந்தார்.

“வணக்கம் சார்! எப்படி இருக்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று மரியாதையுடன் கேட்டான் அந்த இளைஞன்.

“நான் விஜய். உங்கள் ஃபேஸ்புக் பின்தொடர்பவர்களில் ஒருவன்,” என்று அவன் அறிமுகப்படுத்திக் கொண்டான்.

கேஷவ் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் புன்னகைத்தார்.

“எங்கே செல்ல வேண்டும், சார்? நான் அண்ணா நகர் போகிறேன்,” என்றான் விஜய்.

“அப்படியா! நானும் அங்கேதான் செல்கிறேன்,” என்று கூறிய கேஷவ், கிருஷ்ணாவின் முகவரியை மொபைலில் காட்டினார்.

அதே நேரத்தில், விஜய் தனது ஃபேஸ்புக் ப்ரொஃபைலை காட்ட, கேஷவ் உடனே அவனை அடையாளம் கண்டுகொண்டார்.

கேப் பயணத்தின் போது, விஜய் தாம் பெங்களூருவிலுள்ள ஒரு வங்கியில் வேலை செய்கிறதாகவும், ராஜாஜிநகர் அருகே வசிப்பதாகவும் கூறினார். அவரது எளிமையான குணமும் மரியாதையான நடத்தையும் கேஷவுக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்தது.

அவர்கள் கிருஷ்ணாவின் வீட்டை அடைந்தபோது, கிருஷ்ணா வெளியே வந்து அன்புடன் வரவேற்றார். விஜயை பார்த்தவுடன் அவரது முகம் மகிழ்ச்சியால் மலர்ந்தது.

விஜயின் நல்ல குணநலன்களையும் குடும்ப பின்னணியையும் கவனித்தபோது, இதே எண்ணம் ஏற்கனவே கேஷவின் மனதிலும் தோன்றியிருந்தது. மேலும், கிருஷ்ணாவின் குடும்பத்தை நன்றாக அறிந்திருந்ததால், இந்த தொடர்பில் அவருக்கு முழு நம்பிக்கை ஏற்பட்டது.

அன்றைய மாலையே, கேஷவ் விஜயின் பெற்றோருடன் பேசினார். விஜயாவின் புகைப்படத்தையும் அவர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்தார். அவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் சம்மதித்தனர்.

விஜயா, விஜயின் புகைப்படத்தை பார்த்ததும் ஆச்சரியமடைந்தாள்.

“அப்பா! நாங்கள் ஏற்கனவே இன்ஸ்டாகிராமில் நண்பர்களாக இருக்கிறோம்!” என்று மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறினாள்.

அந்த பிறந்தநாள் விழா இரு குடும்பங்களுக்கும் இன்னும் மகிழ்ச்சியானதாக மாறியது. விழாவில் கலந்து கொண்ட பின்னர், தனது மகளின் திருமணம் விஜயுடன் நிச்சயிக்கப்பட்ட மகிழ்ச்சியான செய்தியுடன் கேஷவ் வீடு திரும்பினார். ராகிணியும் பேரானந்தம் அடைந்தாள்.

ஒரு டிஜிட்டல் படைப்பாளரும் அவரது பின்தொடர்பவரும் சந்தித்த சாதாரண தருணம், பின்னர் அழகான குடும்ப உறவாக மலர்ந்தது.

When I started this blog 18 years ago, it had only around 900 views per month. Watching it grow steadily over the years to reach this wonderful milestone is an emotional and proud moment for me.

ATM Machine Encounter

Arthanari was counting the cash he had withdrawn from the ATM when he heard someone calling, “Sir!”

He turned back and saw Arun standing there with a bright smile.

Arthanari immediately recognized him. Three years earlier, in the same ATM center, Arthanari had accidentally dropped his wallet while leaving. Arun, who had noticed it, ran behind him and returned it safely.

At that time, Arun was studying his first year B.Sc. He was struggling to pay his college fees. His father worked as a cook in a small restaurant and tried his best to support his only son’s ambition of becoming a doctor. Arun had lost his mother when he was only nine years old, and life had never been easy for him.

After hearing Arun’s story, Arthanari was deeply moved. Impressed by the boy’s honesty and determination, he promised to sponsor Arun’s college fees for the next three years.

Soon after that, Arthanari had moved to his native place, Sholavandan, and had stayed there for three years. Though he had instructed the bank to continue paying Arun’s fees, he had forgotten to give Arun his phone number.

Now, after returning to Bengaluru the previous week, fate had brought them together again at the same ATM.

“Sir, I am very happy to see you today,” Arun said emotionally. “I have passed with first class, and tomorrow I am joining a pharmaceutical company in Bengaluru as a medical representative.”

Arthanari smiled proudly.

Arun continued, “Though I could not become a doctor, this job will allow me to meet doctors regularly. Slowly, I have accepted life as it is. Seeing you today before joining my job feels like a blessing.”

Then he added softly, “I will repay the money you spent on my education little by little. Please give me your phone number. Here is my visiting card.”

Arthanari took the card and gave Arun his number.

Then, placing his hand gently on Arun’s shoulder, he whispered, “You do not have to repay anything. I helped you because of your honesty, dedication, and dreams. I am happy with the path you have chosen now.”

Arun’s eyes filled with gratitude.

After sharing a good breakfast together, both of them departed with hearts full of happiness and satisfaction.

ஏடிஎம் இயந்திர சந்திப்பு

ஆர்த்தநாரி ஏடிஎம் இயந்திரத்தில் இருந்து எடுத்த பணத்தை எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அப்போது யாரோ,

“சார்!” என்று அழைக்கும் குரல் கேட்டது.

அவர் திரும்பிப் பார்த்தார். அங்கே அருண் புன்னகையுடன் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்.

ஆர்த்தநாரி அவனை உடனே அடையாளம் கண்டுகொண்டார். மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு, இதே ஏடிஎம் மையத்தில் ஆர்த்தநாரி தவறுதலாக தனது பணப்பையை கீழே போட்டுவிட்டு சென்றிருந்தார். அதை கவனித்த அருண், அவரைத் தொடர்ந்து ஓடி வந்து பணப்பையை பாதுகாப்பாக ஒப்படைத்தான்.

அப்போது அருண் பி.எஸ்்சி முதல் ஆண்டு படித்து வந்தான். கல்லூரிக் கட்டணம் செலுத்த மிகவும் கஷ்டப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தான். ஒரு சிறிய உணவகத்தில் சமையல்காரராக வேலை செய்த அவன் தந்தை, தனது ஒரே மகன் மருத்துவராக வேண்டும் என்ற கனவை நிறைவேற்ற மிகுந்த முயற்சி செய்தார். அருண் ஒன்பது வயதிலேயே தனது தாயை இழந்துவிட்டான்; அதன் பிறகு வாழ்க்கை அவனுக்கு எளிதாக இருந்ததில்லை.

அருணின் கதையை கேட்ட ஆர்த்தநாரி மிகவும் மனம் உருகினார். அந்த இளைஞனின் நேர்மையும் உறுதியும் அவரை கவர்ந்தது. அதனால் அடுத்த மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கான கல்லூரிக் கட்டணத்தை தானே ஏற்றுக்கொள்வதாக வாக்குறுதி அளித்தார்.

அதற்குப் பிறகு ஆர்த்தநாரி தனது சொந்த ஊரான சோழவந்தானுக்கு சென்று அங்கே மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் தங்கியிருந்தார். ஆனால் வங்கியின் மூலம் அருணின் கட்டணத்தை தொடர்ந்து செலுத்துமாறு ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தாலும், தனது தொலைபேசி எண்ணை அருணிடம் கொடுக்க மறந்துவிட்டார்.

இப்போது, கடந்த வாரம் பெங்களூருவிற்கு திரும்பி வந்திருந்த ஆர்த்தநாரிக்கு, அதே ஏடிஎம் மையத்தில் மீண்டும் அருணை சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது.

“சார், இன்று உங்களை பார்த்ததில் எனக்கு மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி,” என்று உணர்ச்சியுடன் அருண் கூறினான்.

“நான் முதல் வகுப்பில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றுள்ளேன். நாளை முதல் பெங்களூருவில் உள்ள ஒரு மருந்து நிறுவனத்தில் மருத்துவ பிரதிநிதியாக பணியில் சேர இருக்கிறேன்.”

ஆர்த்தநாரி பெருமிதத்துடன் புன்னகைத்தார்.

அருண் தொடர்ந்து,

“நான் மருத்துவராக முடியவில்லை. ஆனால் இந்த வேலை மூலம் தினமும் மருத்துவர்களை சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும். மெதுவாக வாழ்க்கையை அது எப்படியோ அப்படியே ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள கற்றுக்கொண்டேன். புதிய வேலையில் சேரும் முன் இன்று உங்களை சந்தித்தது எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதம் போல இருக்கிறது,” என்றான்.

பிறகு மெதுவாக,

“என் படிப்பிற்காக நீங்கள் செலவிட்ட பணத்தை கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக திருப்பித் தருகிறேன். தயவு செய்து உங்கள் தொலைபேசி எண்ணைத் தாருங்கள். இது என் விசிட்டிங் கார்டு,” என்றான்.

ஆர்த்தநாரி அந்த அட்டையை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு தனது எண்ணை அருணிடம் கொடுத்தார்.

பின்னர் அருணின் தோளில் அன்பாக கை வைத்து,

“நீ எதையும் திருப்பித் தர வேண்டியதில்லை. உன் நேர்மை, உழைப்பு, கனவுகள் — இவைகளுக்காகத்தான் நான் உதவினேன். இப்போது நீ தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருக்கும் வாழ்க்கைப் பாதையைப் பார்த்து எனக்கு மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி,” என்று மெதுவாகச் சொன்னார்.

அருணின் கண்கள் நன்றியினால் கலங்கின.

அதன்பிறகு இருவரும் ஒன்றாக காலை உணவு அருந்தி, மனம் நிறைந்த மகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் திருப்தியுடனும் அங்கிருந்து பிரிந்தார்கள்.

The country’s decision to introduce a new concept of daily oral treatment, combined with broader health initiatives, is highly laudable.  The Envelope Encounter

Girish reached Bengaluru International Airport, checked in his luggage, collected his boarding pass, and walked to the lounge to wait for his flight. After a few minutes, a dignified gentleman in his fifties came pushing his hand baggage and sat beside him.

Girish smiled politely.

“Hello, sir. I’m Girish. I’m travelling to London.”

The man smiled back warmly.

“I’m Ramnath. I’m travelling to Denver in the US.”

As Ramnath placed his bag nearby, Girish noticed the address tag on the baggage. It showed the same apartment complex where his old college friend, Mridula, lived.

Girish hesitated for a moment and then said,

“Sir, one of my neighbours gave me an envelope to post from London. Since your address is the same apartment complex, I thought you could kindly drop it into your building’s letterbox. It would reach faster than if I posted it from London.”

Ramnath looked at the young man with appreciation.

“Certainly. It will be my pleasure.”

He took the envelope, and soon both boarded their British Airways flight.

After a safe and comfortable journey, Girish landed in London and became busy with his new job at KPMG. Two days later, he received an unexpected phone call.

“Hey, Girish!” said a familiar voice excitedly. “This is Mridula from Denver!”

Girish was surprised and delighted.

“My dad gave me an envelope addressed to me,” she continued. “He said a young man travelling on the same flight had requested him to place it in our apartment mailbox. Dad asked me who had sent it.”

Mridula and Girish had been college classmates. Though they had always liked each other, neither had openly expressed their feelings. After graduation, Mridula had moved to the US for higher studies and later settled in Denver with a good job.

Meanwhile, Girish had successfully completed all three levels of the CFA programme with excellent marks and had recently received an offer from KPMG in London. He had secretly hoped to speak to Mridula’s parents about his feelings only after establishing his career.

When Girish saw Ramnath’s address tag at the airport, he realised destiny had unexpectedly connected him to Mridula’s family.

Over the phone, Girish explained everything honestly. Smiling softly, Mridula said,

“Don’t worry. I told Dad that my old classmate Vasanthy had sent the envelope.”

Ramnath, unaware of the deeper emotions between the two young people, simply felt happy that he had helped someone during his journey. With a peaceful smile, he left for his evening walk.

Sometimes, a small envelope carries much more than a letter — it carries destiny itself.

உறையை சந்தித்த தருணம்

கிரிஷ் பெங்களூரு சர்வதேச விமான நிலையத்திற்கு வந்து, தனது பயணப்பெட்டிகளைச் செக்-இன் செய்து, போர்டிங் பாஸை பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, விமானத்துக்காக காத்திருக்க லவுஞ்சிற்குச் சென்றான். சில நிமிடங்களில், Fifty three years இருக்கும் கம்பீரமான or nabar தனது கைப்பையைக் தள்ளிக்கொண்டு வந்து, அவன் அருகில் அமர்ந்தார்.

கிரிஷ் மரியாதையுடன் புன்னகைத்தான்.

“வணக்கம் சார், நான் கிரிஷ். லண்டன் போகிறேன்.”

Avar அன்புடன் புன்னகைத்தார்.

“நான் ராம்நாத். அமெரிக்காவின் டென்பர் நகரத்துக்குப் போகிறேன்.”

“சார், என் அயலவர் ஒருவர் லண்டனில் இருந்து அனுப்பச் சொல்லி ஒரு உறையை என்கிட்ட கொடுத்திருக்காங்க. உங்கள் முகவரியும் அதே கட்டடம் என்பதால், தயவு செய்து அதை உங்கள் அபார்ட்மெண்ட் லெட்டர் பாக்ஸில் போட்டுவிட முடியுமா? அப்படிச் செய்தால், லண்டனில் இருந்து அஞ்சலில் அனுப்புவதை விட சீக்கிரம் சேரும்.”

ராம்நாத் அந்த இளைஞனை பாராட்டும் பார்வையுடன் பார்த்தார்.

“நிச்சயமாக. அது எனக்கு மகிழ்ச்சிதான்.”

அவர் அந்த உறையை பெற்றுக்கொண்டார். சில நேரத்தில் இருவரும் பிரிட்டிஷ் ஏர்வேஸ் விமானத்தில் ஏறினர்.

பாதுகாப்பான மற்றும் சௌகரியமான பயணத்திற்குப் பிறகு, கிரிஷ் லண்டன் சென்றடைந்து, KPMG நிறுவனத்தில் தனது புதிய வேலையில் மூழ்கிப் போனான். இரண்டு நாட்கள் கழித்து, அவனுக்கு எதிர்பாராத ஒரு தொலைபேசி அழைப்பு வந்தது.

Ram entered the meeting place of his friends’ group after two days of absence. His friends warmly greeted him and immediately asked the reason for his absence.

Ram replied, “A close friend of mine, Sanjay, had come from Australia for his nephew’s treatment. The boy was suffering from a rare form of skin cancer. Since I work in the pharmaceutical field, Sanjay asked whether I knew any specialist who could give a second opinion.”

Fortunately, one of Ram’s old classmates, Dr. Keshav, an eminent cancer specialist who had recently returned from the United States and settled in Bengaluru, came to his mind. Ram arranged a meeting with him. Dr. Keshav carefully examined the young patient and asked them to return the next day for further consultation.

Ram’s friends appreciated his timely help and praised the value of maintaining good friendships and associations.

Soon another friend arrived carrying delicious tea and snacks to celebrate his birthday. After spending some cheerful time together, Ram returned home.

His wife, Sugandhi, welcomed him with a smile.

“Your friend Dr. Keshav called,” she said. “He told me there is nothing to worry about. The condition is curable, and he has asked your friend to meet him tomorrow.”

Ram felt relieved and happy. He had known Keshav’s talent since their college days and was aware of the reputation he had earned in the field of cancer treatment in the United States. His confidence in his friend’s abilities grew even stronger.

The next day, Sanjay called Ram and informed him that Dr. Keshav had begun a ten-day treatment plan for his nephew. Hearing this made Ram even more hopeful.

Fifteen days later, Sanjay visited Ram’s house carrying a box of sweets.

“Thank you, Ram,” he said gratefully. “You introduced us to a brilliant cancer specialist. My nephew is now completely free from pain and recovering well.”

Sugandhi smiled and said, “Your friends have become eminent personalities in different walks of life, and today their knowledge has helped save a patient.”

Ram softly replied, “That is why I mingle with everyone, irrespective of age, status, or knowledge. Every association teaches us something valuable.”

“True,” whispered Sugandhi in agreement.

நம்பிக்கையும் நட்புறவும்

இரண்டு நாட்கள் கழித்து ராம் தனது நண்பர்கள் குழுவின் சந்திப்பு இடத்திற்கு வந்தான். நண்பர்கள் அனைவரும் அவனை அன்புடன் வரவேற்று, இரண்டு நாட்கள் வராததற்கான காரணத்தை கேட்டனர்.

ராம் கூறினான்:

“என் நெருங்கிய நண்பர் சஞ்சய், தனது மருமகனின் சிகிச்சைக்காக ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் இருந்து வந்திருந்தார். அந்த சிறுவன் அரிய வகை தோல் புற்றுநோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தான். நான் மருந்துத் துறையில் பணிபுரிவதால், இரண்டாவது கருத்து சொல்லக்கூடிய நிபுணர் யாரேனும் தெரிந்திருக்கிறாரா என்று சஞ்சய் கேட்டார்.”

அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக, அமெரிக்காவில் இருந்து சமீபத்தில் திரும்பி பெங்களூருவில் தங்கி வந்த தனது பழைய வகுப்பு தோழரான புகழ்பெற்ற புற்றுநோய் நிபுணர் டாக்டர் கேஷவ் ராமின் நினைவுக்கு வந்தார். ராம் உடனே அவரைச் சந்திக்கும் ஏற்பாட்டை செய்தான்.

டாக்டர் கேஷவ் அந்தச் சிறுவனை கவனமாக பரிசோதித்து, மேலும் ஆலோசனைக்காக மறுநாள் வருமாறு கூறினார்.

ராமின் நண்பர்கள், அவன் சரியான நேரத்தில் செய்த உதவியைப் பாராட்டி, நல்ல நட்பும் பழக்கவழக்கங்களும் வாழ்க்கையில் எவ்வளவு முக்கியம் என்பதைப் புகழ்ந்தனர்.

இதைக் கேட்ட ராம் மனநிம்மதியுடனும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் இருந்தான். கல்லூரி நாட்களிலிருந்தே கேஷவின் திறமையை அவன் நன்கு அறிந்திருந்தான். அமெரிக்காவில் புற்றுநோய் சிகிச்சை துறையில் அவர் பெற்றிருந்த புகழும் ராமுக்கு தெரிந்திருந்தது. தனது நண்பரின் திறமையின் மீது அவனுடைய நம்பிக்கை இன்னும் அதிகரித்தது.

மறுநாள் சஞ்சய் ராமை தொலைபேசியில் தொடர்புகொண்டு, டாக்டர் கேஷவ் தனது மருமகனுக்காக பத்து நாட்கள் சிகிச்சை திட்டத்தைத் தொடங்கியிருப்பதாக தெரிவித்தார். இதைக் கேட்ட ராமின் நம்பிக்கை மேலும் உயர்ந்தது.

பதினைந்து நாட்கள் கழித்து, சஞ்சய் ஒரு இனிப்பு பெட்டியுடன் ராமின் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தார்.

“நன்றி ராம்,” என்று மனமார கூறினார்.

“நீங்கள் எங்களை ஒரு சிறந்த புற்றுநோய் நிபுணரிடம் அறிமுகப்படுத்தினீர்கள். இப்போது என் மருமகன் வலியின்றி நலமாக குணமடைந்து வருகிறான்.”

சுகந்தி புன்னகையுடன் கூறினாள்:

“உங்கள் நண்பர்கள் பல துறைகளில் சிறந்தவர்களாக உயர்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள். இன்று அவர்களுடைய அறிவு ஒரு நோயாளியின் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்ற உதவியுள்ளது.”

ராம் மெதுவாகப் பதிலளித்தான்:

“அதனால்தான் வயது, பதவி, அறிவு என்பவற்றைப் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் அனைவருடனும் பழகுகிறேன். ஒவ்வொரு தொடர்பும் நமக்கு ஏதோ ஒரு மதிப்புள்ள பாடத்தை கற்றுத்தருகிறது.”

“உண்மைதான்,” என்று சுகந்தி சம்மதமாக மெளனமாகச் சொன்னாள்.

A Wedding with a Different Concept

Dr. Shalini was attending to her next patient in the hospital when she suddenly received a call from her friend Smitha.

“Hey, good news! Your friend Srikanth has come back from the US this morning,” Smitha said excitedly before hanging up.

Shalini felt happy hearing the news. Srikanth had been her close college friend, and both had secretly admired each other during their college days. Smitha, who was both Shalini’s close friend and the neighbor of Srikanth’s parents, had always encouraged their friendship and dreamed of seeing them married one day.

That evening, after returning home from the hospital, Shalini relaxed for a while. She was in the final year of her pediatric specialization. A little later, Srikanth arrived at her house and was warmly welcomed by Shalini’s parents, Radhika and Ram. Ram and Srikanth’s father, Harish, had been close friends for many years and were very happy about the possibility of their children getting married.

After tea and sweets were served, Srikanth looked around for Shalini. Radhika smiled and said, “Shalini just came home, but our neighbor’s child suddenly developed a fever, so she went to check on the child. She’ll be back soon.”

Ram then asked, “So, Srikanth, what are your plans now?”

“Uncle, I received an offer from Google and will be joining in a month,” Srikanth replied. “Before that, my parents want Shalini and me to get married. They were thinking of a simple registered marriage now and a grand family celebration next year.”

Ram was not very interested in the idea of a registered marriage. “Why wait for the real wedding? We can arrange the marriage within a month itself,” he said confidently.

Just then, Shalini entered the house and greeted Srikanth warmly.

“How are you, Srikanth?”

“I’m fine,” he replied softly, smiling at her.

Radhika explained Srikanth’s parents’ wishes. At that moment, Harish called Ram excitedly.

“Good news! Our astrologer has given us an auspicious date, and we have booked a beautiful marriage hall near our apartment. My old friend, who runs an event management company, has agreed to arrange everything, including light music.”

Shalini was surprised by how quickly everything was happening. Though happy, she had one important wish.

“I’m happy about the marriage,” she said gently. “But I want to serve for one year in a rural hospital and continue my research on children’s health. Even after marriage, I may have to join Srikanth only after a year. Will that be okay?”

Srikanth immediately nodded. “Of course, Shalini. We are both professionals. We should respect each other’s goals and responsibilities.”

Ram felt proud and happy hearing Srikanth’s mature decision.

On the fixed date, the wedding was celebrated beautifully with family, friends, music, and blessings. Soon after the marriage, Srikanth left for the US to begin his new job.

One year later, after successfully completing her rural medical service and research project, Dr. Shalini arrived at the San Francisco airport. Srikanth was waiting eagerly for her. The moment he saw her, he hugged her warmly.

Both of them smiled with joy — not only because they were finally together, but because they had honored both love and professional ethics before beginning their married life together.

வித்தியாசமான எண்ணத்துடன் நடைபெற்ற திருமணம்

மருத்துவமனையில் தனது அடுத்த நோயாளியை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த டாக்டர் ஷாலினிக்கு திடீரென தனது தோழி ஸ்மிதாவிடமிருந்து ஒரு தொலைபேசி அழைப்பு வந்தது.

“ஹேய், ஒரு நல்ல செய்தி! உன் நண்பன் ஸ்ரீகாந்த் இன்று காலை அமெரிக்காவிலிருந்து திரும்பி வந்திருக்கிறான்,” என்று உற்சாகமாகச் சொல்லிவிட்டு ஸ்மிதா அழைப்பை முடித்தாள்.

அந்த செய்தியை கேட்ட ஷாலினி மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தாள். ஸ்ரீகாந்த் அவளுடைய கல்லூரி நாட்களிலிருந்தே நெருங்கிய நண்பன். அவர்கள் இருவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் மனதளவில் விரும்பி வந்தனர். ஷாலினியின் நெருங்கிய தோழியும், ஸ்ரீகாந்தின் வீட்டாரின் அயலாருமான ஸ்மிதா, எப்போதும் இவர்களின் நட்பை ஊக்குவித்து, ஒருநாள் அவர்கள் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று கனவு கண்டாள்.

அன்று மாலை மருத்துவமனையிலிருந்து வீடு திரும்பிய ஷாலினி சிறிது நேரம் ஓய்வெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தாள். அவள் குழந்தை மருத்துவத்தில் மேற்படிப்பின் இறுதி ஆண்டில் இருந்தாள். சிறிது நேரத்தில் ஸ்ரீகாந்த் அவள் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தான். ஷாலினியின் பெற்றோரான ராதிகாவும் ராமும் அவனை அன்புடன் வரவேற்றனர். ராமும் ஸ்ரீகாந்தின் தந்தை ஹரிஷும் பல ஆண்டுகளாக நெருங்கிய நண்பர்களாக இருந்தனர். தங்களது பிள்ளைகள் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ளும் வாய்ப்பைப் பற்றி அவர்கள் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருந்தனர்.

தேநீர் மற்றும் இனிப்புகள் பரிமாறப்பட்ட பிறகு, ஸ்ரீகாந்த் ஷாலினியைத் தேடி சுற்றிப் பார்த்தான். அதைப் பார்த்த ராதிகா சிரித்தபடி,

“ஷாலினி இப்போதுதான் வீட்டுக்கு வந்தாள். ஆனால் நம்ம அயல்காரர் வீட்டுக் குழந்தைக்கு திடீரென்று காய்ச்சல் வந்துவிட்டது. அதனால் அந்தக் குழந்தையைப் பார்க்கச் சென்றிருக்கிறாள். சீக்கிரம் வந்துவிடுவாள்,” என்றார்.

பிறகு ராம் கேட்டார்:

“ஸ்ரீகாந்த், இனி உன் திட்டங்கள் என்ன?”

“அங்கிள், எனக்கு கூகுளில் வேலை வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்துள்ளது. இன்னும் ஒரு மாதத்தில் வேலைக்கு சேர போகிறேன்,” என்று ஸ்ரீகாந்த் பதிலளித்தான். “அதற்கு முன் நானும் ஷாலினியும் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று என் பெற்றோர் விரும்புகிறார்கள். இப்போது எளிமையான பதிவு திருமணம் செய்து வைத்து, அடுத்த ஆண்டு பெரிய குடும்ப விழாவாக கொண்டாடலாம் என்று நினைக்கிறார்கள்.”

பதிவு திருமண யோசனை ராமுக்கு அதிகம் பிடிக்கவில்லை.

“உண்மையான திருமணத்தை ஏன் தள்ளிப் போட வேண்டும்? ஒரு மாதத்துக்குள்ளேயே திருமணத்தை சிறப்பாக நடத்தலாம்,” என்று அவர் நம்பிக்கையுடன் கூறினார்.

அந்த நேரத்தில் ஷாலினி வீட்டிற்குள் வந்து ஸ்ரீகாந்தை அன்புடன் வரவேற்றாள்.

“எப்படி இருக்கிறாய், ஸ்ரீகாந்த்?”

“நன்றாக இருக்கிறேன்,” என்று மெதுவாக சிரித்தபடி அவன் பதிலளித்தான்.

ராதிகா, ஸ்ரீகாந்தின் பெற்றோரின் விருப்பத்தை ஷாலினியிடம் விளக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, ஹரிஷ் உற்சாகமாக ராமுக்கு தொலைபேசியில் அழைத்தார்.

“ஒரு நல்ல செய்தி! நம்ம ஜோதிடர் நல்ல முகூர்த்த நாளை கூறியிருக்கிறார். எங்கள் அபார்ட்மெண்ட் அருகே இருக்கும் அழகான திருமண மண்டபத்தையும் முன்பதிவு செய்து விட்டோம். என் பழைய நண்பர் ஒருவர் நிகழ்ச்சி மேலாண்மை நிறுவனத்தை நடத்துகிறார். அவர் அலங்காரம் முதல் மெலிசை நிகழ்ச்சி வரை எல்லாவற்றையும் ஏற்பாடு செய்ய சம்மதித்திருக்கிறார்,” என்றார்.

எல்லாமே இவ்வளவு விரைவாக நடப்பதை பார்த்து ஷாலினி ஆச்சரியமடைந்தாள். மகிழ்ச்சியோடு இருந்தாலும், அவளுக்கு ஒரு முக்கியமான விருப்பம் இருந்தது.

“இந்தத் திருமணத்தில் எனக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சி தான்,” என்று மெதுவாகச் சொன்னாள். “ஆனால் நான் ஒரு வருடம் கிராமப்புற மருத்துவமனையில் பணியாற்ற வேண்டும். குழந்தைகளின் உடல்நல ஆராய்ச்சியையும் தொடர விரும்புகிறேன். திருமணத்திற்குப் பிறகும் நான் ஒரு வருடம் கழித்துதான் ஸ்ரீகாந்துடன் சேர முடியும். அது உங்களுக்கு சம்மதமா?”

ஸ்ரீகாந்த் உடனே தலையசைத்தான்.

“கண்டிப்பாக, ஷாலினி. நாம் இருவரும் தொழில்முறை நிபுணர்கள். ஒருவரின் இலக்குகளையும் பொறுப்புகளையும் மற்றொருவர் மதிக்க வேண்டும்,” என்றான்.

ஸ்ரீகாந்தின் முதிர்ச்சியான முடிவைக் கேட்ட ராம் பெருமையுடனும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் இருந்தார்.

நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்ட நாளில், குடும்பத்தினர், நண்பர்கள், இசை மற்றும் ஆசீர்வாதங்களுடன் திருமணம் மிகவும் அழகாக நடைபெற்றது. திருமணத்திற்குப் பிறகு விரைவிலேயே ஸ்ரீகாந்த் தனது புதிய வேலையைத் தொடங்க அமெரிக்கா புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றான்.

ஒரு வருடம் கழித்து, கிராமப்புற மருத்துவ சேவையையும் தனது ஆராய்ச்சி திட்டத்தையும் வெற்றிகரமாக முடித்த டாக்டர் ஷாலினி, சான் பிரான்சிஸ்கோ விமான நிலையத்தை அடைந்தாள். ஸ்ரீகாந்த் ஆவலுடன் அவளுக்காக காத்திருந்தான். அவளை பார்த்தவுடன் அன்புடன் அணைத்துக் கொண்டான்.

இருவரின் முகத்திலும் மகிழ்ச்சி பொங்கியது — அவர்கள் மீண்டும் ஒன்றாக சேர்ந்ததற்காக மட்டுமல்ல; காதலுக்கும் தொழில் நெறிமுறைகளுக்கும் சமமான மதிப்பளித்து, வாழ்க்கையை தொடங்கியிருந்ததற்காகவும்.

Good old KannadaMovie.

 Ramesh Bhat, Tara, PhaniRamachandra Another good old movie I watched today. The movie Doctor Krishna, made more than three and a half decades ago, was beautifully directed by Phani Ramachandra. Stalwarts like Vishnuvardhan, Suman Ranganath, Tara, Ramesh Bhat, Leelavathi, Govinda Rao, and Vijay Kashyap portrayed their roles very well.

The pleasing music by Rajan-Nagendra, cinematography by the stalwart D. V. Rajaram, and editing by Manjunath added great value to the film. The clean screenplay, impressive framework, and beautiful locations enhanced the overall appeal of this classic movie.

The story, revolving around two friends and illegal activities, was handled very effectively. Vishnuvardhan, in his own inimitable style, shared a great on-screen combination with Ramesh Bhat. Tara played her role wonderfully, portraying a mischievous nature layered with an underlying health problem. Suman Ranganath also delivered a fine performance.

Overall, it was a very good family drama presented beautifully three and a half decades ago by director Phani Ramachandra and his team.

WhatsApp Encounter

Director Ramachandra arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport and checked in his luggage. He settled into the lounge to wait for his flight to Germany, which was scheduled to depart in another hour.

For the past week, his old friend and producer, Basavaraj, had been insisting that he find a fresh and meaningful story for their next film project. Ramachandra had been searching intensely for a unique concept, something different from the routine commercial themes, but nothing had impressed him so far.

With time still left before boarding, he casually opened his WhatsApp messages. As he scrolled through them, he noticed a message from a blogger-writer named Ram, whose contact had been shared earlier by his family doctor, Doctor Gopal. Ram had sent a few of his short stories for reading.

Out of curiosity, Director Ramachandra began reading one of them. Within minutes, he was deeply impressed by the simplicity, emotion, and strong message in the writing. Suddenly, an idea sparked in his mind — he had found the base concept for his next film.

Excitedly, he called Producer Basavaraj.

“Basavaraj, I have found a wonderful concept for our new film,” he said enthusiastically. “As soon as I return from Germany, let us meet this writer, Ram. One of his stories has great potential. If developed properly, I am confident it will become a grand success.”

Basavaraj trusted Ramachandra’s judgment completely.

“That is wonderful news,” he replied happily. “We will meet once you return.”

Fifteen days later, one morning, Doctor Gopal called Ram with exciting news. He informed him that Director Ramachandra wished to meet him the next day at his residence in Jayanagar. He also shared the director’s contact number.

Ram’s wife, Vasanthy, was overjoyed. She had always believed in her husband’s writing talent and passion. Ram, an electrical engineer by profession, had taken voluntary retirement to pursue writing seriously. Over the years, his blog had become popular among readers from different walks of life and media circles.

The next day, after a fruitful discussion with Producer Basavaraj and Director Ramachandra, Ram signed a five-year agreement as a story writer for their production house.

With happiness filling his heart, Ram returned home carrying his wife’s favorite Badam Halwa from the famous Anand Sweets and Savouries.

That evening, Vasanthy smiled with pride, knowing that her husband’s passion, patience, and perseverance had finally found their deserving recognition.

இயக்குநர் ராமச்சந்திரா Ramachandra கெம்பேகவுடா சர்வதேச விமான நிலையத்திற்கு Kempegowda International Airport வந்து தனது பயணப்பெட்டிகளை ஒப்படைத்தார். ஜெர்மனிக்குச் செல்லும் அவரது விமானம் இன்னும் ஒரு மணி நேரத்தில் புறப்படவிருந்ததால், அவர் லவுஞ்சில் அமைதியாக அமர்ந்து காத்திருந்தார்.

கடந்த ஒரு வாரமாக அவரது பழைய நண்பரும் தயாரிப்பாளருமான பசவராஜ் Basavaraj, அடுத்த திரைப்படத்திற்காக புதியதொரு அர்த்தமுள்ள கதையை கண்டுபிடிக்கும்படி தொடர்ந்து வலியுறுத்தி வந்தார். வழக்கமான வணிகத் திரைப்படங்களிலிருந்து மாறுபட்ட, தனித்துவமான கதை ஒன்றை தேடி ராமச்சந்திரா தீவிரமாக முயன்றார். ஆனால் இதுவரை எதுவும் அவரை கவரவில்லை.

போர்டிங் நேரம் வர இன்னும் நேரம் இருந்ததால், அவர் சாதாரணமாக தனது வாட்ஸ்அப் செய்திகளைத் திறந்து பார்த்தார். அவற்றை ஸ்க்ரோல் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, குடும்ப மருத்துவரான டாக்டர் கோபால் Doctor Gopal மூலம் அறிமுகமான பதிவாளர்-எழுத்தாளர் ராம் Ram அனுப்பியிருந்த சில சிறுகதைகள் அவரது கவனத்திற்கு வந்தன.

ஆர்வத்துடன் ராமச்சந்திரா அவற்றில் ஒரு கதையை வாசிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். சில நிமிடங்களிலேயே அந்த எழுத்தின் எளிமை, உணர்ச்சி, மற்றும் வலுவான கருத்து அவரை ஆழமாக கவர்ந்தது. திடீரென அவரது மனதில் ஒரு எண்ணம் தோன்றியது — தனது அடுத்த திரைப்படத்திற்கான அடிப்படை கதை அவருக்குக் கிடைத்துவிட்டது.

“நான் ஜெர்மனியில் இருந்து திரும்பியவுடன் இந்த எழுத்தாளர் ராமை சந்திப்போம். அவரது ஒரு கதையில் மிகுந்த திறன் இருக்கிறது. அதை சரியாக உருவாக்கினால், அது மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றிப் படமாக மாறும் என்பதில் எனக்கு முழு நம்பிக்கை இருக்கிறது.”

ராமச்சந்திராவின் தீர்மானத்தில் முழு நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருந்த பசவராஜ் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பதிலளித்தார்.

“அது மிகச் சிறந்த செய்தி. நீங்கள் திரும்பியதும் நாம் சந்திப்போம்.”

பதினைந்து நாட்கள் கழித்து, ஒரு காலை, டாக்டர் கோபால் ராமை தொலைபேசியில் தொடர்புகொண்டார். இயக்குநர் ராமச்சந்திரா அடுத்த நாள் ஜெயநகரில் உள்ள தனது இல்லத்தில் அவரை சந்திக்க விரும்புவதாக தெரிவித்தார். மேலும், இயக்குநரின் தொடர்பு எண்ணையும் பகிர்ந்தார்.

ராமின் மனைவி வசந்தி Vasanthy மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தார். தனது கணவரின் எழுத்துத் திறமையையும் ஆர்வத்தையும் அவர் எப்போதும் நம்பி வந்தார். தொழிலில் மின்சார பொறியாளரான ராம், எழுத்தில் முழுமையாக ஈடுபட விரும்பி விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்றிருந்தார். காலப்போக்கில், அவரது வலைப்பதிவு பல தரப்பினரிடமும் ஊடக உலகிலும் நல்ல வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றிருந்தது.

அடுத்த நாள், தயாரிப்பாளர் பசவராஜ் மற்றும் இயக்குநர் ராமச்சந்திராவுடன் நடந்த பயனுள்ள கலந்துரையாடலுக்குப் பிறகு, ராம் அவர்கள் தயாரிப்பு நிறுவனத்தில் ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கான கதை எழுத்தாளராக ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்டார்.

மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிய ராம், தனது மனைவிக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த பாதாம் ஹல்வாவை Badam Halwa புகழ்பெற்ற Anand Sweets and Savouries கடையில் இருந்து வாங்கி வந்தார்.

அந்த மாலை, தனது கணவரின் ஆர்வம், பொறுமை, மற்றும் விடாமுயற்சிக்கு தகுந்த அங்கீகாரம் கிடைத்துவிட்டதை உணர்ந்து வசந்தி பெருமையுடன் புன்னகைத்தார்.
