I write in reference to Sultan Al Qassemi’s article How Abdulrahman Bukhatir gave the UAE its cricketing soul (March 30): It was both engaging and thought-provoking. It beautifully highlights the remarkable journey of Abdulrahman Bukhatir, a true legend who played a pivotal role in giving the UAE its cricketing soul. Bukhatir sparked a revolution in the desert by building cricket stadiums and nurturing a deep passion for the sport across the UAE. His life and achievements are vividly and respectfully narrated by the author, making the article both inspiring and informative. Beyond cricket, Bukhatir has earned many laurels through his leadership of various reputed companies, which is equally admirable. I am personally proud to share that from 1994 to 1997, I had the privilege of serving in his insurance division at the Sharjah office. Overall, this is a well-written and inspiring tribute to a visionary who transformed the cricketing landscape of the UAE. – K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India
