Small Story 428.

Smsll story 428 First Day, Longing for Mumma Anish reached his new office in Dubai with excitement and a hint of nervousness. He had just completed his Event Management course and was proud to have received an offer from a reputed firm in the city. At twenty-three, it was his first job abroad—a dream he had nurtured for years. Life hadn’t been easy for Anish. His father had once gone overseas for work and never returned. Since then, his loving mother, Ambujam, had raised him single-handedly, working tirelessly in a small post office branch in their village near Tenkasi, Tirunelveli. Every success Anish achieved was built upon her sacrifices and strength. When he got the job offer, Ambujam had spent her life’s savings to help him settle in Dubai. She had said with teary eyes, “Go make your dreams come true, kanna. I’ll be fine here.” That morning, Anish walked into his new office, adjusting his tie nervously. His boss called him in, asked his name and where he was from, and welcomed him warmly. The day went by quickly as Anish tried to learn and adjust to his new environment. By evening, he returned to his small but cozy one-bedroom apartment. It was fully furnished and had all the comforts he could need—but something felt missing. As he lay on his bed after dinner, his eyes fell on a framed photo of his mother. A lump rose in his throat. For the first time, he realized how much he missed her—her gentle voice, her evening prayers, and most of all, her warm hug before he went to sleep. He whispered softly, “Mumma… missing you so much.” With that thought lingering in his heart, Anish closed his eyes, carrying her love into his dreams. K,.Ragavan 13-11-25
