Small Story 441.

Small Story 441 The Dilemma Solved After attending his friend’s birthday party, Mahadev returned home with a smile. Basavanna and Mahadev had been close friends ever since they retired from the milk dairy, and meeting him at the party had brought back warm memories. Before leaving, Basavanna had invited Mahadev and his wife to his granddaughter’s birthday celebration the following week. On his way home, Mahadev suddenly remembered that the same day he had his usual visit to the senior citizens’ home to distribute lunch — a service he had been doing with dedication for the past five years. He didn’t want to miss either event, and the thought of choosing between the two troubled him. Just then, his mobile phone rang. It was Basavanna. “Hey buddy,” Basavanna said cheerfully, “I just remembered that your senior citizens’ programme is on my granddaughter’s birthday. You don’t need to come in the morning — just join us in the evening!” Hearing this, Mahadev felt relieved and deeply touched. His friend had understood his dilemma without him even saying a word. Small gestures like these bring true happiness, and for a senior citizen like Mahadev, this thoughtful act meant even more. It reminded him of the value of friendship and mutual respect.
