Tribute to My Good Friend Ramaswamy.698. Today I am going to pay tribute to another interesting personality from my friend circle of UAE days, none other than Mr Ramaswamy.in the year 1994i still remember in the month of November i met him in his office chamber in Sharjah for my official visit ,to introduce the prestigious policy of Contractors All Risk Policy or CAR in short to his engineering firm.CAR Policy has become our friendship bonding over the years till today.One of the soft ,jovial friendly person took a liking and asking my whereabouts.When i told that i am from Mysore ,he was thrilled ,because he also hails from that place .The place also one of the reason for affinity and real friendship for us.He was happy that i belong to Chennai and spent many years in Mysore.He explained their company Insurance policy and as such no requirement for CAR Policy.But our friendship started from that day.Almost every friday he calls me for lunch to his house ,since i was staying as a bachelor till 1997 with my friend.He and his Wife treated me as one of their family member and the lunch was very nice..Then he introduced me to a couple of friends from Karnataka. It made me more happy since I stayed in Mysore .Every week we all gather in different places have dinner or lunch.He is the main architect ,introduced me plenty of friends which we all continue till now.By Profession he is a Structural Engineer spent many years abroad and now settled in Bangalore.He has three sons two settled in US and one in Australia.Like dad all are friendly with me.His Mrs was another friendly lady who is fond of all my three children ,and hails from a reputed family from Nanjangud.Today i am very happy to tribute this Great Legend and his family whom our family always remember.When ever functions at our home they never miss and same from us. In the coming few weeks i will continue to tribute my UAE friends. which i always remember and bonding.. For it was apt for him to talk about the relationship that India and the UAE have enjoyed long before both nations came into being. Indeed, the peoples of South Asia and the Gulf have for centuries engaged with each other through trade, commerce, cultural exchange and marriage. Millions of Indians, including yours truly, have spent most of our adult lives in the UAE. We have contributed to the country's growth and, in return, sent much-needed remittance home. Tribute toMy Good Friend Kishore 697. Today i am going to pen another interesting personality from my friends side,known to me for more than Twenty Six Years association and still going strong is none other than my Good friend Kishore still Continuing in the UAE. I was introduced through another commonfriend to Kishore in 1995.From that day on wards our relation ship is not only cordial but also strong.He is known for his hospitality who ever his friends visit to his area Sharjah he will invite them for lunch .I have not only seen,but also enjoyrd his hospitality for many occassions which i have to admit.His family members Consist of his Wife,Son and Daughter too like dad.In 2011bi i visited UAE after my permanent departure from the UAE in 2009 ,just to see my friends and old clients and Kishore invited me to stay in his house.The Memorable treatment and hospitality till today i remember.I had a wonderful time with him in Sharjah where i spent Sixteen glorious years.Apart from Kishore i am having couple of good friends whom i can not for get.Few months back he called me and Wished for my Birth day, invited me and my wife to come and stay few months with them made me the love and affection he has got with me and no words i can express.Today i am very happy to tribute this Good Friend not only known for hisfriendly nature but also for his hospitality.Being an Polymer person he started his own venture and by god’s grace doing very well.Before i conclude i am blessing him and all the family members for a happy and peacefullife in the coming days.He is always remembered by me and our family.Today i am very happy to tribute this great Polymer Legend. The world must act upon the Houthis’ attack I write in reference to Rory Reynolds’ article UAE 'reserves right to retaliate' after drone attack on Abu Dhabi by Houthi militia (January 17): what the Houthis have done is nothing short of a terrorist act on a peace-loving country. I am deeply saddened by the loss of life. Those who died were civilians going about their jobs. While the attack is shocking, the international community needs to do more than just condemn it. The US must put the Houthis back on its terror list. The rest of us, meanwhile, should pray for the innocent victims. K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India

Great loss.

Today was a sad day for me ,I lost a very good friend, popular in Social medias and above all a wonderful , cheerful friendly doctor liked by one and all in Chennaiwas a great loss for the suffering humanity My association with him for more than twelve years started through FaceBook which I left few years back .He is one of my best reader for all my letters . articles and above all a good friend .May his soul rest in peace the great Dr Rawlin Augustin. Letter Published in The National UAE on 13 Jan 22 What drove a man set a bank on fire. This is in reference to Taniya Dutta’s article Indian man accused of setting bank on fire after loan was rejected (January 11): it’s easy for us to judge people for their criminal acts. We scoff at them and get angry with them. This story, though, made me feel a little sad. The man in question supposedly runs a non-governmental organisation. Maybe he needs money to help the needy. Who knows? Of course, there is no excuse for anyone to take the law into their hands – even if they feel aggrieved, as this man clearly did. L etter Published in The National UAE on 6Jan 22Strong deterrence against rash driving is necessary This is in reference to Taniya Dutta's article Indian bus driver jailed for 190 years over deaths of 19 passengers (January 2): while I believe the strictest punishment should be handed out for driving offences, especially if they have led to the deaths of children, imprisoning someone for 190 years seems a bit pointless. The convicted person is obviously not going to live that long. Besides, sentencing people on separate counts is also mystifying. Nevertheless, I hope this news deters drivers everywhere to take better care while on the road. K Ragavan, Bengaluru
