On the happy occasion of Doctors' Day, I pay my heartfelt tribute to the entire medical fraternity for their unwavering dedication and selfless service to suffering humanity.

Having spent three decades in the pharmaceutical industry (1963–1993), I had the privilege of meeting and working with many doctors. Even today, I fondly remember their compassion, commitment, and tireless efforts to care for their patients.

The medical profession is one of the noblest professions and has always earned the respect and gratitude of society for its invaluable contribution to humanity.

On this special day, I extend my warmest wishes to all doctors. Happy Doctors' Day! May you continue your noble mission of healing, serving, and bringing hope to countless lives.

Whenever Ram and Raj met, they would discuss various social issues. Since Ram was a journalist, their conversation began that way on this occasion as well.

Ram: I read in today's newspaper about the brutal attack carried out by the Naxalites. They killed our security personnel. It is deeply painful.

Raj: Yes, I read that news too.

Ram: It is very unfortunate that such an incident happened despite all the security arrangements. The government should take swift action.

Raj: You're right. I wonder where they are getting their weapons from.

Ram: Poverty, injustice, and lack of education are the main reasons why the Naxalite movement emerged in our country.

Raj: I completely agree. Appropriate measures should be taken to bring this problem under control.

Ram: Yes.

At that moment, Pinky came in carrying a tray of sweets.

Pinky: Uncle, here's your favorite Mysore Pak. Please have some.

Ram: Thank you, dear. I, too, need to control my habit of eating too many sweets.

Pinky: That's not really a problem, Uncle. You walk three kilometers every day. You also take very good care of your health and maintain your body weight.

Ram: Even so, I should be careful. I'll just have one piece.

Raj: It doesn't look like the rain is going to stop. Why don't you stay here tonight and leave tomorrow morning?

Ram: Thank you. But my friend Tommy is alone at home, so I have to go.

Raj: All right. In that case, at least have dinner before you leave.

Liife is Beautiful – 2

Murthy works as a manager in a multinational pharmaceutical company. His entire world revolves around his wife, Aarthi, and their daughter, Nirmala.

Ram lived in the apartment next door to Murthy's. Murthy had built that apartment building ten years earlier. On several occasions, he had asked Ram, "Why did you take voluntary retirement from your college job?"

Ram would always give the same answer: "Because I wanted to enjoy a peaceful and tranquil life."

After that, Murthy never questioned him further about the reason.

On weekends and public holidays, Ram and Nirmala would spend time playing their favorite games—carrom and Monopoly.

In the evenings, Ram would often visit another friend of his, Raj. Raj was a journalist, and like Ram, he had a keen interest in many subjects.

One day, Raj invited Ram to attend his daughter Pinky's birthday celebration that evening.

At around 4:00 p.m. that day, it suddenly began to rain heavily. Although Mysuru is a delightful city, no one can predict when it will rain during the monsoon season because its weather is influenced by the monsoon over the nearby Coorg (Madikeri/Mercara) region.

The rain continued until 6:00 p.m. Despite the heavy downpour, Ram hired an auto-rickshaw and went to Raj's house.

Raj and his wife, Deepa, were delighted to see Ram.

Raj said, "Ram, I'm so happy that you came despite such heavy rain."

With a smile, Ram replied, "I'm happy to be here to celebrate your daughter Pinky's birthday, Raj."

He then walked over to Pinky and said, "Happy Birthday! May you always be healthy and happy."

He handed her the gift he had brought with him.

 The demise of G. K. Ramamurthy, popularly known as GKR, is a great loss to the pharmaceutical world. He served in several pharmaceutical companies in top leadership positions and made a significant impact on their growth and success. His association with companies such as Cipla, Crosslands, and later, associated withRanbaxy if I am right, reflected  his exceptional marketing vision and leadership. His bold and innovative marketing strategies helped elevate these companies to greater heights. As a former pharma professional, I always heard about him simply as "GKR"—a name that commanded immense respect across the industry. His passing marks the end of an era, and he will be remembered for his remarkable contributions to pharmaceutical marketing and management.

 Life Is Beautiful

A New Story

Chapter 1

This story is entirely fictional. All the characters appearing in it are products of my imagination. I begin this story today.

It was 7:00 a.m. The city of Mysuru was calm and peaceful. A light drizzle was falling. Men and women were taking their morning walks in a roadside park. The park was one of the well-known landmarks of Yadavagiri, one of Mysuru's most beautiful neighborhoods.

The hero of our story, Professor Ram, a retired academic, was taking a leisurely morning walk with his beloved pet dog, Tommy. Walking with Tommy every morning had become part of his daily routine.

At exactly 8:00 a.m., as he had done unfailingly for the past fifteen years, he stopped at his favorite bakery to buy a loaf of bread for breakfast.

Ram's life had been filled with adventure and sacrifice. At 57 years of age, he had never married. He was a man of high ideals and strong principles. He was also a deeply devoted follower of Sri Ramanuja, whom he revered as the great spiritual teacher who established and upheld the philosophy of the Sri Vaishnava tradition.

After finishing his walk and buying the bread, Ram returned to the modest apartment building that he had built twenty years earlier.

Just then, his neighbor, Moorthy, saw him and greeted him with a warm smile.

Moorthy: "Good morning, Professor! Have you finished your morning walk?"

Ram: "Yes."

Moorthy: "What's your plan for today?"

Ram: "I haven't decided anything yet."

Moorthy: "In that case, come over and join me for lunch today."

Ram: "Not today. I'll come another day."

The demise of the 73-year-old versatile actor, director, writer, and screenplay genius K. Bhagyaraj is a great shock to the Tamil film industry and cinema lovers everywhere. His passing marks the end of an era, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that will continue to inspire generations. 

Known for his unique storytelling, brilliant screenplays, and films filled with humour, emotion, and strong family values, Bhagyaraj created a lasting impact on Tamil cinema. His association with the legendary director Bharathiraja gave him a strong foundation in filmmaking, and he later carved a niche for himself with his exceptional creativity. 

Many of his unforgettable films, including Mundhanai Mudichu, Indru Poi Naalai Vaa, Darling Darling Darling, Thooral Ninnu Pochu, Chinna Veedu, and Sundara Kandam, remain evergreen classics cherished by audiences even today. His memorable performance in Uthamaputhiran alongside Dhanush also earned widespread appreciation. 

K. Bhagyaraj was not only a gifted filmmaker but also a warm, humble, and ever-smiling personality who won the affection of colleagues and fans alike. His immense contribution to Indian cinema will never be forgotten.

Elevation Encounter

Mahadevappa returned home from the office to find his friend, Muniappa, waiting for him.

"Welcome, Muniappa! How are you?" Mahadevappa greeted warmly. Turning to his wife, he said, "Please bring some tea and biscuits."

After exchanging pleasantries, Muniappa smiled and handed over a box of sweets.

"I have wonderful news to share," he said. "My son, Ravindra, has been promoted to the position of Executive Engineer in his company. He has also been transferred to their construction site in Shimoga."

Mahadevappa happily accepted the sweets.

"That's excellent news! At this stage of his career, earning a promotion in a leading construction company truly reflects his talent, dedication, and hard work. I am very proud of him."

After a brief pause, Mahadevappa continued, "In fact, I was planning to meet you soon with another proposal."

"What proposal?" Muniappa asked curiously.

"My sister's daughter, Ragini, has completed her MBA and recently joined a multinational company. I feel she would be a suitable match for your grandson, Viswa."

Muniappa smiled with interest.

"What a pleasant coincidence!" he replied. "Even my brother-in-law has just been promoted as Marketing Manager in his company. It seems promotions are bringing happiness to our families."

The following week, both families met. After Viswa and Ragini spoke to each other and expressed their willingness, the elders happily fixed the wedding.

Sometimes, an elevation in one's profession becomes a sign of even greater blessings, bringing joy, success, and new relationships into the family.

பதவி உயர்வால் மலர்ந்த உறவு

மகாதேவப்பா அலுவலகத்திலிருந்து வீட்டிற்கு வந்தபோது, அவரது நண்பர் முனியப்பா அவருக்காகக் காத்திருந்தார்.

"வாருங்கள், முனியப்பா! நலமாக இருக்கிறீர்களா?" என்று மகாதேவப்பா அன்புடன் வரவேற்றார்.

பிறகு தனது மனைவியிடம், "தேநீரும் பிஸ்கட்டும் கொண்டு வாருங்கள்," என்றார்.

சிறிது நேரம் நலம் விசாரித்த பிறகு, முனியப்பா புன்னகையுடன் ஒரு இனிப்புப் பெட்டியை நீட்டினார்.

"ஒரு மகிழ்ச்சியான செய்தியை உங்களுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள வந்திருக்கிறேன்," என்றார். "என் மகன் ரவீந்திரா, அவர் பணியாற்றும் நிறுவனத்தில் நிர்வாகப் பொறியாளர் (Executive Engineer) பதவிக்கு உயர்த்தப்பட்டுள்ளார். மேலும், அவருக்கு ஷிவமொக்கா (ஷிமோகா) கட்டுமானத் திட்டப் பணியிடத்திற்கு இடமாற்றமும் கிடைத்துள்ளது."

"மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியான செய்தி! ஒரு முன்னணி கட்டுமான நிறுவனத்தில் இந்த நிலையில் பதவி உயர்வு பெறுவது அவரது திறமை, அர்ப்பணிப்பு மற்றும் கடின உழைப்புக்குக் கிடைத்த அங்கீகாரம். அவரைப் பற்றி எனக்கும் மிகவும் பெருமையாக இருக்கிறது," என்றார்.

சிறிது நேரம் அமைதியாக இருந்த அவர் மீண்டும் பேசத் தொடங்கினார்.

"உண்மையில், நானும் உங்களை விரைவில் சந்திக்க நினைத்திருந்தேன். ஒரு நல்ல விஷயத்தைப் பற்றி பேச வேண்டும்."

"என்ன விஷயம்?" என்று ஆர்வத்துடன் கேட்டார் முனியப்பா.

"என் சகோதரியின் மகள் ராகிணி, எம்.பி.ஏ. படிப்பை முடித்துவிட்டு சமீபத்தில் ஒரு பன்னாட்டு நிறுவனத்தில் வேலைக்குச் சேர்ந்துள்ளார். உங்கள் பேரன் விஸ்வாவுக்கு அவள் நல்ல வாழ்க்கைத் துணையாக இருப்பாள் என்று நான் நினைக்கிறேன்."

முனியப்பா மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் புன்னகைத்தார்.

"எவ்வளவு இனிய தற்செயல்! என் மைத்துனருக்கும் சமீபத்தில் அவர் பணிபுரியும் நிறுவனத்தில் மார்க்கெட்டிங் மேலாளர் (Marketing Manager) பதவி உயர்வு கிடைத்துள்ளது. நம் குடும்பங்களில் பதவி உயர்வுகள் மகிழ்ச்சியையும் நல்ல நிகழ்வுகளையும் கொண்டு வருகின்றன போலிருக்கிறது," என்றார்.

அடுத்த வாரம் இரண்டு குடும்பத்தினரும் சந்தித்தனர். விஸ்வாவும் ராகிணியும் தனியாகப் பேசி, திருமணத்திற்கு இருவரும் சம்மதம் தெரிவித்தனர். அதன்பின், குடும்பத்தின் பெரியவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் திருமணத்தை நிச்சயித்தனர்.

Recently, I watched the Titan series on Prime Video and was truly impressed. The portrayal of old Mumbai, its culture, and the period setting was beautifully captured. The performances by Naseeruddin Shah, Xerxes Desai, and the rest of the cast were outstanding and memorable.

The series brilliantly showcases J.R.D. Tata's vision and the challenge of creating an affordable, world-class Indian watch brand. It is an inspiring story of Indian talent, innovation, determination, and patriotism, highlighting how Titan stood strong against multinational brands and carved its own identity. A must-watch for anyone who appreciates inspiring stories of Indian entrepreneurship.

Visit Turned into Tragedy

Keshav was shocked to receive a message from Srinath's son, Viswa, informing him that Srinath had passed away in the recent earthquake in Venezuela.

Last month, Srinath had travelled to the United States to visit his son. After spending some time with him and visiting a few places in the U.S., Srinath expressed his desire to visit Venezuela. Since Viswa was busy with his work commitments, he could not accompany his father. Instead, he requested a trusted neighbour to travel with Srinath.

Three days after they arrived in Venezuela, a devastating earthquake struck. On that day, Srinath's companion had stepped out to meet a friend, while Srinath remained inside the house. When the earthquake hit, the building collapsed, trapping Srinath inside. Despite rescue efforts, he could not be saved.

When Viswa received the tragic news from his father's companion, he was heartbroken. Filled with grief, he immediately travelled to Venezuela, lamenting the cruel twist of fate.

Back home in Bangalore, Srinath's wife was shattered by the news and struggled to recover from the shock.

As soon as Keshav heard the heartbreaking news, he went to Srinath's parents' house. The entire family was immersed in sorrow. Keshav offered his heartfelt condolences to Srinath's father, mother, and wife.

In a sorrowful voice, Keshav said, "We plan our journeys with hope and happiness, and most of the time everything goes well. But sometimes, fate has other plans, and we are forced to endure unimaginable grief. I have lost a dear friend, and society has lost a generous philanthropist who was always ready to help others through his many good deeds."

After spending some time comforting the grieving family, Keshav returned home with a heavy heart, deeply saddened by the tragic loss of his beloved friend.

 வாழ்க்கை அழகானது – 3

ராம் மற்றும் ராஜ் சந்திக்கும் போதெல்லாம் பல்வேறு சமூகப் பிரச்சினைகளைப் பற்றி விவாதிப்பார்கள். ராம் ஒரு பத்திரிகையாளர் என்பதால், அன்றும் அவர்களது உரையாடல் அவ்வாறே தொடங்கியது.

ராம்: இன்று செய்தித்தாளில் நக்சலைட்டுகள் நடத்திய கொடூரமான தாக்குதலைப் பற்றி படித்தேன். நம் வீரர்களைக் கொன்றிருக்கிறார்கள். மிகவும் வேதனையாக இருக்கிறது.

ராஜ்: ஆம், நானும் அந்தச் செய்தியைப் படித்தேன்.

ராம்: இத்தனை பாதுகாப்பு ஏற்பாடுகள் இருந்தும் இந்தச் சம்பவம் நடந்தது மிகவும் வருத்தமளிக்கிறது. அரசு விரைவாக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

ராஜ்: நீ சொல்வது சரிதான். அவர்களுக்கு ஆயுதங்கள் எங்கிருந்து கிடைக்கின்றன என்று ஆச்சரியமாக இருக்கிறது.

ராம்: நம் நாட்டில் நக்சல் இயக்கம் உருவாகக் காரணம் வறுமை, அநீதி மற்றும் கல்வியறிவின்மை.

ராஜ்: அதை நான் முழுமையாக ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறேன். இந்தப் பிரச்சினையை கட்டுப்படுத்த உரிய நடவடிக்கைகள் எடுக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.

ராம்: ஆமாம்.

அந்த நேரத்தில் பிங்கி ஒரு தட்டில் இனிப்புகளுடன் வந்தாள்.

பிங்கி: மாமா, உங்களுக்குப் பிடித்த மைசூர் பாக். சாப்பிடுங்கள்.

ராம்: நன்றி, மகளே. எனக்கும் அதிகமாக இனிப்பு சாப்பிடும் பழக்கத்தைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த வேண்டும்.

பிங்கி: அதில் எந்தப் பிரச்சினையும் இல்லை, மாமா. நீங்கள் தினமும் மூன்று கிலோமீட்டர் நடக்கிறீர்கள். உங்கள் உடல் எடை மற்றும் உடல்நலத்தையும் மிகவும் கவனமாகப் பார்த்துக் கொள்கிறீர்கள்.

ராம்: இருந்தாலும் நான் கவனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். ஒரு துண்டு மட்டும் எடுத்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

ராஜ்: மழை நிற்கும் போலத் தெரியவில்லை. இன்று இங்கேயே தங்கி, நாளை காலை செல்லலாமே.

ராம்: நன்றி. ஆனால் என் நண்பர் டாமி வீட்டில் தனியாக இருக்கிறார். அதனால் நான் செல்ல வேண்டும்.

ராஜ்: சரி. அப்படியானால் இரவு உணவு முடித்துவிட்டு புறப்படுங்கள்.

மூர்த்தி ஒரு பன்னாட்டு மருந்து நிறுவனத்தில் மேலாளராகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். அவரது உலகமே அவரது மனைவி ஆர்த்தி மற்றும் மகள் நிர்மலா.

மூர்த்தியின் அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்பிற்கு அடுத்த வீட்டில் ராம் வசித்து வந்தார். மூர்த்தி அந்த வீட்டை பத்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு கட்டியிருந்தார். பலமுறை, "நீங்கள் ஏன் கல்லூரிப் பணியிலிருந்து விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்றீர்கள்?" என்று ராமிடம் கேட்டிருக்கிறார். அதற்கு ராம் எப்போதும், "நிம்மதியான, அமைதியான வாழ்க்கையை அனுபவிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக," என்றே பதிலளித்தார். அதன் பிறகு மூர்த்தி அந்தக் காரணத்தைப் பற்றி மீண்டும் கேட்கவில்லை.

வார இறுதி நாட்களிலும் விடுமுறை நாட்களிலும், ராமும் ,Nirmala vumஇருவருக்கும் மிகவும் பிடித்த கேரம் மற்றும் மோனோபாலி விளையாட்டுகளை விளையாடுவார்கள்.

மாலை நேரங்களில், ராம் தனது மற்றொரு நண்பரான ராஜைச் சந்திக்கச் செல்வார். ராஜ் ஒரு பத்திரிகையாளர்; ராமைப் போலவே அவருக்கும் பல விஷயங்களில் ஆர்வம் இருந்தது.

ஒரு நாள், ராஜ் தனது மகள் பிங்கியின் பிறந்தநாள் விழாவிற்கு மாலையில் வருமாறு ராமை அழைத்தார்.

அன்று மாலை 4 மணியளவில் திடீரென பலத்த மழை பெய்யத் தொடங்கியது. மைசூர் மிகவும் இனிமையான நகரமாக இருந்தாலும், பருவமழைக் காலங்களில் எப்போது மழை பெய்யும் என்று யாராலும் கணிக்க முடியாது. ஏனெனில், மைசூர் அருகிலுள்ள கூர்க் (மடிகேரி/மெர்காரா) பகுதியின் பருவமழையால் பாதிக்கப்படுகிறது.

மாலை 6 மணி வரை தொடர்ந்து மழை பெய்தது. இருந்தபோதிலும், ராம் ஒரு ஆட்டோவில் ஏறி ராஜின் வீட்டிற்குச் சென்றார்.

ராமை பார்த்த ராஜும், அவரது மனைவி தீபாவும் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தனர்.

ராஜ் கூறினார்: "ராம், இவ்வளவு கனமழை பெய்தும் நீங்கள் வந்தது எனக்கு மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறது."

ராம் புன்னகையுடன், "உங்கள் மகள் பிங்கியின் பிறந்தநாள் விழாவில் கலந்துகொள்வது எனக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி, ராஜ். உள்ளே வாருங்கள்." என்றார்.

பின்னர் பிங்கியிடம் சென்று, "இனிய பிறந்தநாள் வாழ்த்துகள். நீ எப்போதும் ஆரோக்கியமாகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாகவும் வாழ வேண்டும்." என்று வாழ்த்தி, தன்னுடன் கொண்டு வந்த பரிசை அவளிடம் வழங்கினார்.

வாழ்க்கை அழகானது

இந்தக் கதை முழுவதும் கற்பனையே. இதில் இடம்பெறும் அனைத்து கதாபாத்திரங்களும் என் கற்பனையில் உருவானவர்கள். இக்கதையை இன்று முதல் தொடங்குகிறேன்.

அதிகாலை 7 மணி. மைசூர் நகரம் அமைதியாக இருந்தது. மெல்லிய தூறல் மழை பெய்துக் கொண்டிருந்தது. சாலையோரப் பூங்காவில் ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் நடைப்பயிற்சி செய்து கொண்டிருந்தனர். அந்தப் பூங்கா, மைசூரின் அழகிய பகுதியான யாதவகிரியில் அமைந்திருந்த ஒரு முக்கிய அடையாளமாகும்.

நமது கதையின் நாயகன், ஓய்வு பெற்ற பேராசிரியர் ராம், தனது அன்பான செல்ல நாயான டாமியுடன் மெதுவாக நடைப்பயிற்சி செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார். டாமியுடன் தினமும் காலை நடைப்பயிற்சி செல்வது அவரது வழக்கமாக இருந்தது.

சரியாக காலை 8 மணிக்கு, கடந்த பதினைந்து ஆண்டுகளாகச் செய்து வரும் பழக்கப்படி, தனது விருப்பமான பேக்கரிக்குச் சென்று காலை உணவிற்கான ரொட்டியை வாங்கிக் கொள்வார்.

ராமின் வாழ்க்கை சாகசங்களும் தியாகங்களும் நிறைந்தது. 57 வயதான ராம் திருமணம் ஆகாதவர். அவர் உயர்ந்த கொள்கைகளைக் கொண்டவர். மேலும், ஸ்ரீராமானுஜர் மீது ஆழ்ந்த பக்தி கொண்டவர். ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவ சமயத் தத்துவத்தை நிலைநிறுத்திய மகத்தான ஆன்மிக குருவாக ஸ்ரீராமானுஜரை அவர் போற்றி வந்தார்.

நடைப்பயிற்சியை முடித்து, ரொட்டியை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, இருபது ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு அவர் கட்டிய சிறிய அடுக்குமாடி வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பினார்.

அப்போது அவரது அயல்வாசியான மூர்த்தி அவரைக் கண்டு புன்னகையுடன் பேசினார்.

மூர்த்தி: "என்ன பேராசிரியரே! காலை நடைப்பயிற்சியை முடித்துவிட்டீர்களா?"

ராம்: "ஆமாம்."

மூர்த்தி: "இன்றைய திட்டம் என்ன?"

ராம்: "இன்னும் எதுவும் முடிவு செய்யவில்லை."

மூர்த்தி: "அப்படியானால், இன்று மதிய உணவுக்கு என்னுடன் வாருங்கள்."

ராம்: "இன்று வேண்டாம். பிறகு ஒருநாள் வருகிறேன்."

சுற்றுலா சோகமாக மாறியது

ஸ்ரீநாத்தின் மகன் விஸ்வாவிடமிருந்து வந்த ஒரு செய்தியைப் பார்த்ததும், கேஷவ் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தார். அதில், சமீபத்தில் வெனிசுலாவில் ஏற்பட்ட நிலநடுக்கத்தில் ஸ்ரீநாத் உயிரிழந்துவிட்டதாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

கடந்த மாதம், ஸ்ரீநாத் தனது மகனைச் சந்திப்பதற்காக அமெரிக்கா சென்றிருந்தார். அங்கு மகனுடன் சில நாட்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியாகக் கழித்ததுடன், அமெரிக்காவின் சில முக்கிய இடங்களையும் சுற்றிப் பார்த்தார். அதன் பிறகு, வெனிசுலாவையும் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்ற தனது விருப்பத்தை மகனிடம் தெரிவித்தார். ஆனால், வேலைப்பளு காரணமாக விஸ்வாவால் தந்தையுடன் செல்ல முடியவில்லை. எனவே, தன்னுடைய நம்பிக்கைக்குரிய அண்டை வீட்டுக்காரர் ஒருவரை ஸ்ரீநாத்துடன் அனுப்பி வைத்தார்.

தந்தையுடன் சென்றவரிடமிருந்து இந்தத் துயரச் செய்தியை அறிந்த விஸ்வா மனமுடைந்து போனார். அளவிட முடியாத துயரத்தில் ஆழ்ந்த அவர், விதியின் கொடுமையை எண்ணி வருந்தியபடியே உடனடியாக வெனிசுலாவிற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார்.

இதற்கிடையில், பெங்களூரில் இருந்த ஸ்ரீநாத்தின் மனைவி இந்தச் செய்தியைக் கேட்டு அதிர்ச்சியில் உறைந்து போனார். அந்தச் சோகத்திலிருந்து அவரால் எளிதில் மீள முடியவில்லை.

இந்த வேதனைமிகு செய்தியைக் கேட்டவுடன், கேஷவ் ஸ்ரீநாத்தின் வீட்டிற்குச் சென்றார். அங்கு அவரது தந்தை, தாய், மனைவி மற்றும் குடும்பத்தினர் அனைவரும் அளவில்லாத துயரத்தில் மூழ்கியிருந்தனர். கேஷவ், ஸ்ரீநாத்தின் தந்தை, தாய் மற்றும் மனைவியிடம் தனது ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கலைத் தெரிவித்தார்.

சோகத்துடன் அவர் கூறினார்:

"நாம் பயணங்களை மகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் நம்பிக்கையுடனும் திட்டமிடுகிறோம். பெரும்பாலான நேரங்களில் எல்லாம் நன்றாகவே நடக்கிறது. ஆனால் சில சமயங்களில், விதி வேறு திட்டமிட்டிருக்கும். அப்போது தாங்க முடியாத துயரத்தை நாம் அனுபவிக்க வேண்டிய சூழல் ஏற்படுகிறது. இன்று நான் என் அன்பு நண்பரை இழந்திருக்கிறேன். எப்போதும் பிறருக்கு உதவுவதில் முனைந்திருந்த, பல நற்காரியங்களைச் செய்த ஒரு சிறந்த மனிதநேயவாதியை இந்தச் சமுதாயமும் இழந்துவிட்டது."

துயரத்தில் வாடிய குடும்பத்தினருக்கு ஆறுதல் கூறி சிறிது நேரம் அவர்களுடன் இருந்த கேஷவ், மனம் கனத்தபடியே தனது இல்லத்திற்குத் திரும்பினார். தனது அன்பு நண்பரை இழந்த வேதனை அவரது மனதை நீண்ட நேரம் விட்டு அகலவில்லை.

I write in reference to the article One dead and eight injured in crush in Amman after Jordan’s World Cup loss to Algeria (June 23): this news item was very sad to read. Large crowds at sports events can sometimes become dangerous when people panic or rush without caution. It is important for spectators to remain calm, follow safety instructions and move carefully in crowded areas. This unfortunate incident is a reminder of the need for greater crowd awareness and responsible behaviour. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, and I wish a speedy recovery to all those who were injured. – K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India

Trio's Ambitious Venture

Siddarth was waiting for his two friends at their usual café. After a few minutes, Revanth and Hemanth arrived, greeting each other warmly.

As soon as they settled down, the bearer approached Siddarth and asked, “Shall I bring your usual order?”

Siddarth smiled and replied, “Yes, please. One idly, one vada, and tea for each of us.”

While enjoying their breakfast, Revanth began the conversation.

“Hey guys, do you remember the plan we made during our college days? We always wanted to pursue higher studies in different fields and contribute to society in our own ways. Now that we have graduated, it’s time to make that dream a reality.”

Siddarth nodded. “Absolutely. I have decided to study Investigative Journalism. My goal is to expose corruption and bring important social issues to light so that people can be better informed.”

Revanth added, “I have chosen Physiotherapy. I want to help people overcome physical difficulties and improve their quality of life, especially those suffering from arthritis and other mobility-related disorders.”

Hemanth smiled and said, “And I am going to specialize in storytelling and communication. Through stories, I want to create awareness about social issues, education, health, and environmental protection. Stories have the power to inspire change.”

“All our plans are finally taking shape,” Siddarth said enthusiastically. “Tomorrow marks the beginning of our mission.”

After finishing their breakfast, the trio prepared to meet their mentor, guide, and philosopher, Ram, a retired CNN journalist whom they deeply respected.

Ram had become an important influence in their lives ever since they met him at a social gathering dedicated to community development. His wisdom, experience, and commitment to social service had inspired them to think beyond personal success and work for the betterment of society.

As they walked toward Ram’s residence, the three friends felt excited and determined. Though they had chosen different career paths, they shared a common purpose—to serve society and contribute to the nation's progress without being involved in politics.

மூவரின் லட்சியப் பயணம்

சித்தார்த் தனது இரு நண்பர்களுக்காக அவர்கள் வழக்கமாகச் சந்திக்கும் கஃபேவில் காத்திருந்தான். சில நிமிடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு ரேவந்த் மற்றும் ஹேமந்த் வந்து, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் அன்புடன் வணக்கம் தெரிவித்தனர்.

அவர்கள் அமர்ந்தவுடன், பணியாளர் சித்தார்த்திடம் வந்து,

“உங்கள் வழக்கமான காலை உணவை கொண்டு வரட்டுமா?” என்று கேட்டார்.

சித்தார்த் புன்னகையுடன்,

“ஆமாம். ஒரு இட்லி, ஒரு வடை, மேலும் எங்கள் மூவருக்கும் தேநீர் கொண்டு வாருங்கள்,” என்றான்.

காலை உணவை ரசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, ரேவந்த் உரையாடலைத் தொடங்கினான்.

“நண்பர்களே, கல்லூரி நாட்களில் நாம் போட்டுக் கொண்ட திட்டம் நினைவிருக்கிறதா? வெவ்வேறு துறைகளில் உயர்கல்வி கற்று, நமது வழியில் சமூகத்திற்குப் பங்களிக்க வேண்டும் என்று எப்போதும் விரும்பினோம். இப்போது நாம் பட்டம் பெற்றுவிட்டோம். அந்தக் கனவை நனவாக்க வேண்டிய நேரம் வந்துவிட்டது.”

சித்தார்த் தலையசைத்தான்.

“நிச்சயமாக. நான் புலனாய்வு பத்திரிகையியல் (Investigative Journalism) படிக்க முடிவு செய்துள்ளேன். ஊழல்களை வெளிக்கொண்டு வந்து, முக்கியமான சமூகப் பிரச்சினைகளை மக்களுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துவதே என் இலக்கு. இதனால் மக்கள் விழிப்புணர்வுடன் இருக்க முடியும்.”

ரேவந்த் தொடர்ந்தான்.

“நான் உடற்பயிற்சி மருத்துவம் (Physiotherapy) துறையைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்துள்ளேன். உடல் நலக் குறைபாடுகள் உள்ளவர்களுக்கும், குறிப்பாக மூட்டுவலி (Arthritis) மற்றும் நடமாட்டச் சிரமங்களால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கும் உதவி செய்து, அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கைத் தரத்தை மேம்படுத்த விரும்புகிறேன்.”

ஹேமந்த் புன்னகையுடன் கூறினான்.

“நானோ கதைசொல்லல் மற்றும் தொடர்பியல் (Storytelling and Communication) துறையில் சிறப்புப் பயிற்சி பெறப் போகிறேன். கதைகள் மூலம் சமூகப் பிரச்சினைகள், கல்வி, சுகாதாரம் மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்த விரும்புகிறேன். மக்களை மாற்றத்திற்குத் தூண்டும் சக்தி கதைகளுக்கு உண்டு.”

“நாம் திட்டமிட்ட அனைத்தும் இப்போது வடிவம் பெறத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது,” என்று சித்தார்த் உற்சாகமாகக் கூறினான்.

“நாளை நமது இலட்சியப் பயணத்தின் தொடக்க நாள்.”

காலை உணவை முடித்த பிறகு, அந்த மூவரும் தங்களது வழிகாட்டி, ஆலோசகர் மற்றும் தத்துவஞானியான ராமைச் சந்திக்கத் தயாரானார்கள். அவர் ஓய்வுபெற்ற CNN பத்திரிகையாளர்; அவரை அவர்கள் மிகுந்த மரியாதையுடன் போற்றினர்.

The Sweet Tradition

Satyanarayana, even after retirement, joined his friend's company as a Manager at his friend's request. Though he had crossed seventy-five years of age, his vast experience in the IT field, active lifestyle, and eagerness to learn made him an invaluable asset to the organization.

Satyanarayana and his wife, Archana, lived alone in India. Their only daughter had settled in New Zealand. Every alternate year, Satyanarayana and Archana visited her, and she too made it a point to visit them regularly.

One morning, Satyanarayana entered his friends group  carrying a large box of sweets. His friend Shashi noticed it and asked with a smile, "What's the occasion, dear Anna?"

Leaning closer, Satyanarayana whispered proudly, "My grandson has secured admission to Grade 5 in a reputed school in New Zealand on merit."

Delighted, he distributed sweets to everyone. As he moved around, he looked around the group and remarked, "I see Padmanabha and Reddy are missing today."

Laxman tasted a piece of milk cake and said, "Anna, this is delicious. Thank you."

Just then, Ram arrived after his usual morning walk and joined the group. Taking a sweet, he said, "Thank you, Satyanarayana. This sweet is as delightful as your nature."

After a pause, Ram added thoughtfully, "I often wonder about one thing. Doctors and health experts keep advising us to reduce sugar consumption, yet our tradition of distributing sweets on happy occasions remains unchanged."

Everyone laughed and nodded in agreement.

"Very true," said Shashi.

Ram continued, "Perhaps some traditions are too deeply connected with our emotions to disappear. Sweet moments demand sweet celebrations."

"Well said," replied Satyanarayana.

As everyone enjoyed the sweets and shared in his happiness, another group of friends passing by overheard the conversation. One of them smiled and whispered, "He's right. Some sweet traditions can never be eradicated."

Moral: Happiness grows when shared, and some traditions endure because they carry the sweetness of human relationships.

ஓய்வு பெற்ற பிறகும், தனது நண்பரின் வேண்டுகோளின்பேரில் சத்யநாராயணா அவரது நிறுவனத்தில் மேலாளராக சேர்ந்தார். எழுபத்தைந்து வயதைத் தாண்டியிருந்தாலும், தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறையில் அவருக்கிருந்த பரந்த அனுபவம், சுறுசுறுப்பான வாழ்க்கை முறை மற்றும் புதிய விஷயங்களைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளும் ஆர்வம் ஆகியவை அவரை நிறுவனத்திற்கு ஒரு மதிப்புமிக்க சொத்தாக மாற்றியிருந்தன.

சத்யநாராயணாவும் அவரது மனைவி அர்ச்சனாவும் இந்தியாவில் தனியாக வசித்து வந்தனர். அவர்களின் ஒரே மகள் நியூசிலாந்தில் குடியேறியிருந்தாள். ஒவ்வொரு மாற்று ஆண்டிலும் சத்யநாராயணாவும் அர்ச்சனாவும் அவளைச் சந்திக்கச் செல்வார்கள். அதேபோல், அவளும் தவறாமல் பெற்றோரை வந்து சந்தித்து வந்தாள்.

ஒரு நாள் காலை, சத்யநாராயணா ஒரு பெரிய இனிப்புப் பெட்டியுடன் தனது நண்பர்கள் குழுவுக்குள் வந்தார். அதைக் கண்ட அவரது நண்பர் சஷி புன்னகையுடன்,

“என்ன விசேஷம் அண்ணா?” என்று கேட்டார்.

சத்யநாராயணா பெருமிதத்துடன் அருகில் வந்து மெதுவாக,

“என் பேரனுக்கு நியூசிலாந்தில் உள்ள ஒரு புகழ்பெற்ற பள்ளியில், திறமையின் அடிப்படையில் ஐந்தாம் வகுப்பில் சேர்க்கை கிடைத்திருக்கிறது,” என்றார்.

மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்த அவர் அனைவருக்கும் இனிப்புகளை வழங்கினார். இனிப்புகளைப் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டே சுற்றிப் பார்த்த அவர்,

“பத்மநாபாவும் ரெட்டியும் இன்று வரவில்லையே!” என்று கூறினார்.

லக்ஷ்மண் ஒரு துண்டு பால்கோவாவை சுவைத்து,

“அண்ணா, இது மிகவும் சுவையாக இருக்கிறது. நன்றி,” என்றார்.

அந்த நேரத்தில், தனது வழக்கமான காலை நடைப்பயிற்சியை முடித்துவிட்டு ராம் அங்கு வந்தார். ஒரு இனிப்பை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு,

“நன்றி சத்யநாராயணா. இந்த இனிப்பு உங்கள் குணத்தைப் போலவே இனிமையாக இருக்கிறது,” என்றார்.

சிறிது நேரம் அமைதியாக இருந்த அவர் சிந்தனையுடன் தொடர்ந்தார்:

“எனக்கு அடிக்கடி ஒரு விஷயம் தோன்றும். மருத்துவர்களும் உடல்நல நிபுணர்களும் சர்க்கரையை குறைக்கச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டே இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் மகிழ்ச்சியான நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் இனிப்புகள் வழங்கும் நமது பாரம்பரியம் மட்டும் இன்னும் மாறாமல் தொடர்கிறது.”

அனைவரும் சிரித்தபடி சம்மதமாகத் தலையசைத்தனர்.

“மிகவும் உண்மை,” என்றார் சஷி.

ராம் தொடர்ந்து,

Good entertainer.

 Recently, I watched Mangana Kaili Manikya, a comedy entertainer directed by Rajendra Karanth. The film features commendable performances by Ramesh Aravind, Hansika Motwani,  Rangayana Raghu.and Ravishankar gowda The cinematography by J. G. Krishna is visually appealing, while the clean editing by S. K. Nagendra Urs keeps the narrative engaging. The music composed by Rajesh Ramanath adds to the film's charm. Overall, it is an enjoyable and wholesome entertainer, with Ramesh Aravind once again delivering an entertaining performance.

Great Poet Writer.

 Our Madhyamar Group chose an excellent topic to remember and celebrate the late legendary lyricist Kannadasan and his meaningful songs.

It is very difficult to select just one song from the countless gems he gave us. However, my choice is "Mayakkama Kalakkama" from the memorable film Sumai Thangi, based on the original story by my favourite writer Ra. Ki. Rangarajan. This beautiful and thought-provoking song was wonderfully rendered by the late great P. B. Srinivas.

The song's lyrics carry deep philosophical meaning and have often inspired me in my life. Even today, its message remains relevant and uplifting.

Kannadasan was not just a lyricist but a remarkable writer whose songs touched the hearts of millions. Almost every song he penned carried a profound meaning and timeless wisdom. It is no surprise that he continues to be remembered and celebrated by generations of fans.

A wonderful topic from our amazing Madhyamar Group to honour this legendary poet and lyricist.

கண்ணதாசன் அவர்கள் நமக்குத் தந்த எண்ணற்ற முத்தான பாடல்களில் ஒன்றை மட்டும் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பது மிகவும் கடினமானது. இருப்பினும், எனது தேர்வு, எனது விருப்பமான எழுத்தாளர் ரா. கி. ரங்கராஜன் அவர்களின் மூலக் கதையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு உருவான மறக்க முடியாத திரைப்படமான சுமைதாங்கியில் இடம்பெற்ற "மயக்கமா கலக்கமா" என்ற பாடல்.

கண்ணதாசன் அவர்கள் ஒரு பாடலாசிரியர் மட்டுமல்ல; மக்களின் இதயங்களைத் தொட்ட ஒரு சிறந்த எழுத்தாளரும் ஆவார். அவர் எழுதிய பெரும்பாலான பாடல்கள் ஆழமான அர்த்தத்தையும் காலத்தால் அழியாத ஞானத்தையும் தன்னகத்தே கொண்டுள்ளன. அதனால் தான், இன்றும் பல தலைமுறைகளால் அவர் நினைவுகூரப்பட்டு கொண்டாடப்படுகிறார்.

Karthik, the Amusing Predictor

Karthik visited the office of his friend, lawyer Ramu. At the time, Ramu was busy talking with a client. Seeing Karthik, he warmly welcomed him and asked him to take a seat.

After the client left, Ramu asked:

"Hello, Karthik. What brings you here?"

Karthik replied:

"I met our friend Narendra. He asked me to deliver this document to you."

Ramu opened the document and looked at it. It was his car insurance policy. The policy had expired the previous day. Narendra had already renewed it, as Ramu was one of his clients.

After enjoying a cup of tea and chatting for about ten minutes, Karthik left the office.

On his way home, he met his relative, Nagaraj. The two spent some time discussing family matters and sharing old memories.

As they were about to part, Nagaraj said:

"My new Seltos car is ready, and I'm on my way to pick it up. Our friend, lawyer Ramu, gave me a phone number and said, 'You'll be surprised when you hear the voice of the person who answers.'"

He continued:

"I just called that number. To my surprise, it belonged to our friend Narendra! I was delighted to learn that he has now become a leading insurance advisor with many good clients, including celebrities from the Sandalwood film industry."

After talking for a while longer, they went their separate ways.

Some time later, Karthik called Narendra and said:

"I've delivered the document to lawyer Ramu. Also, I have a little intuition: I think you may receive a vehicle insurance policy today—perhaps for a good car like a Seltos!"

Surprised, Narendra asked:

"How did you predict that, Karthik? Amazing!"

Karthik simply laughed.

This "secret" remained between Karthik and Narendra for a few days. Eventually, Karthik revealed the truth.

"I only told you that you might get an insurance policy for a Seltos as a joke. Just before that, I had met Nagaraj, who was on his way to collect his new Seltos. So it wasn't a real prediction at all!"

he explained.

Hearing this, all their friends laughed and enjoyed the story. Karthik's amusing "prediction" turned out to be great entertainment for everyone.

Moral: Sometimes what appears to be an excellent prediction is actually a combination of sharp observation and a little playful guesswork. 😊

வேடிக்கையான கணிப்பாளர் கார்த்திக்

கார்த்திக் தனது நண்பரான வழக்கறிஞர் ராமுவின் அலுவலகத்திற்குச் சென்றார். அப்போது ராமு ஒரு வாடிக்கையாளருடன் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். கார்த்திக்கை பார்த்ததும் அன்புடன் வரவேற்று அமரச் சொன்னார்.

வாடிக்கையாளர் சென்ற பிறகு, ராமு கேட்டார்:

“வணக்கம் கார்த்திக், என்ன விஷயமாக வந்திருக்கிறாய்?”

கார்த்திக் பதிலளித்தார்:

“நம்ம நண்பர் நரேந்தரைச் சந்தித்தேன். அவர் இந்த ஆவணத்தை உங்களிடம் கொடுக்கச் சொன்னார்.”

ராமு அந்த ஆவணத்தைத் திறந்து பார்த்தார். அது அவரது கார் காப்பீட்டுக் கொள்கை (Insurance Policy) ஆகும். அந்தக் கொள்கையின் காலாவதி முந்தைய நாளே முடிந்திருந்தது. நரேந்தர் ஏற்கனவே அதை புதுப்பித்திருந்தார், ஏனெனில் ராமு அவரது வாடிக்கையாளர்களில் ஒருவராக இருந்தார்.

ஒரு கோப்பை தேநீர் அருந்தி, சுமார் பத்து நிமிடங்கள் உரையாடிய பிறகு, கார்த்திக் அலுவலகத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டார்.

வீட்டிற்குச் செல்லும் வழியில், தனது உறவினரான நாகராஜைச் சந்தித்தார். இருவரும் குடும்ப விஷயங்களைப் பற்றி பேசிக் கொண்டும் பழைய நினைவுகளைப் பகிர்ந்தும் சிறிது நேரம் கழித்தனர்.

பிரியாவிடை பெறும் நேரத்தில் நாகராஜ் கூறினார்:

“என்னுடைய புதிய செல்டோஸ் கார் தயாராக இருக்கிறது. அதை வாங்கிக் கொள்ளப் போகிறேன். நம்ம நண்பர் வழக்கறிஞர் ராமு ஒரு தொலைபேசி எண்ணைக் கொடுத்து, ‘அந்த நபரின் குரலைக் கேட்டால் உனக்கு ஆச்சரியமாக இருக்கும்’ என்றார்.”

மேலும் அவர் கூறினார்:

“நான் இப்போதுதான் அந்த எண்ணுக்கு அழைத்தேன். ஆச்சரியமாக அது நம்ம நண்பர் நரேந்தரின் எண்ணாக இருந்தது! அவர் இப்போது முன்னணி காப்பீட்டு ஆலோசகராக வளர்ந்து, பல நல்ல வாடிக்கையாளர்களையும், சந்தனவன (சாண்டல்வுட்) திரைப்படப் பிரபலங்களையும் கொண்டிருக்கிறார் என்பதை அறிந்து மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தேன்.”

சிறிது நேரம் பேசிவிட்டு இருவரும் தங்கள் வழியில் சென்றனர்.

சில நேரம் கழித்து, கார்த்திக் நரேந்தருக்கு தொலைபேசியில் அழைத்து,

“நான் ஆவணத்தை வழக்கறிஞர் ராமுவிடம் கொடுத்து விட்டேன். மேலும், ஒரு சிறிய உள்ளுணர்வு எனக்குத் தோன்றியது. இன்று உங்களுக்கு ஒரு வாகனக் காப்பீட்டுக் கொள்கை கிடைக்கலாம்; அதுவும் ஒரு நல்ல கார், உதாரணமாக செல்டோஸ் காருக்காக இருக்கலாம்!” என்றார்.

நரேந்தர் ஆச்சரியமடைந்து,

“அதை எப்படி கணித்தாய் கார்த்திக்? அருமை!” என்று கேட்டார்.

கார்த்திக் சிரித்துக்கொண்டே இருந்தார்.

இந்த “ரகசியம்” சில நாட்கள் நரேந்தருக்கும் கார்த்திக்குமிடையே தொடர்ந்தது. இறுதியில் கார்த்திக் உண்மையை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

“வேடிக்கைக்காகத்தான் உனக்கு செல்டோஸ் காருக்கான ஒரு காப்பீட்டுக் கொள்கை கிடைக்கலாம் என்று சொன்னேன். ஏனெனில் அதற்கு முன்புதான் நான் நாகராஜைச் சந்தித்தேன். அவர் தனது புதிய செல்டோஸ் காரை வாங்கச் சென்று கொண்டிருந்தார். எனவே அது உண்மையான கணிப்பு இல்லை!”

என்று கூறினார்.

இதைக் கேட்ட நண்பர்கள் அனைவரும் சிரித்துப் மகிழ்ந்தனர். கார்த்திக்கின் வேடிக்கையான “கணிப்பு” அனைவருக்கும் நல்ல பொழுதுபோக்காக அமைந்தது.

A Memorable Japan Visit and Completion of Ten Countries

After returning from his 15-day tour of Japan with his friend Basavaraj, Laxman was relaxing at home. He was sitting in the front yard facing the lawn when his wife, Darshana, brought him a cup of tea along with his favorite onion pakoras.

“Thank you, dear, for bringing my favorite pakoras. I was just thinking of asking you for them,” whispered Laxman.

Darshana smiled and said, “I know. Even if you travel to any country and find Indian restaurants there, the satisfaction of eating at home is something special. Do you agree?”

“You are absolutely right,” replied Laxman. “I missed having you with me on this trip. Since you had to attend your relative’s wedding, you could not come. Japan was wonderful. I loved the beautiful places, colorful flowers, and the fast-paced, active lifestyle of both men and women.”

Just then, Basavaraj called.

“Hello, Laxman! I slept for five hours after reaching home and now I feel completely refreshed. Shall we go to our favorite restaurant this evening?”

Laxman replied, “No need to go to a restaurant. You live within walking distance. Come to my house, and we can spend some time together here.”

About an hour later, Basavaraj arrived carrying a box of sweets prepared by his wife, Radhika.

Darshana welcomed him warmly. “Thank you for bringing these sweets. Please convey my thanks to Radhika.”

“How was your trip, Anna?” she asked.

“It was wonderful,” Basavaraj replied. “Japan is a beautiful country. The Japanese people are hardworking and busy all the time.”

After enjoying tea and onion pakoras, Basavaraj said to Darshana  these pakoras are very tasty. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, their friends Kotandaram and Vijay arrived to hear about their travel experiences.

“It was truly a memorable trip,” said Laxman happily. “With this visit to Japan, Basavaraj and I have completed visits to ten countries in the last five years.”

“That's amazing!” exclaimed Vijay. “At the age of 65, visiting ten countries is a remarkable achievement.”

The friends spent a pleasant evening sharing stories and memories from the trip. After some time, everyone returned to their homes, carrying with them the joy of friendship and the inspiration of lifelong travel.

ஜப்பான் பயணத்தின் இனிய நினைவுகளும் பத்து நாடுகள் பயண சாதனையும்

தனது நண்பர் பசவராஜ் உடன் 15 நாட்கள் ஜப்பான் சுற்றுப்பயணத்தை முடித்து வீடு திரும்பிய லட்சுமண், வீட்டில் ஓய்வாக அமர்ந்திருந்தார். வீட்டின் முன்புறத் தோட்டத்தை நோக்கி அமர்ந்திருந்த அவரிடம், அவரது மனைவி தர்ஷனா ஒரு கப் தேநீரும், அவருக்குப் பிடித்த வெங்காயப் பக்கோடாவும் கொண்டு வந்தார்.

“நன்றி, அன்பே! எனக்குப் பிடித்த பக்கோடாவை கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறாய். இதைத்தான் உன்னிடம் கேட்க நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்,” என்று மெதுவாகச் சொன்னார் லட்சுமண்.

புன்னகைத்த தர்ஷனா, “எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீங்கள் எந்த நாட்டிற்குச் சென்றாலும், அங்கே இந்திய உணவகங்களில் சாப்பிட்டாலும், வீட்டில் சாப்பிடும் திருப்தி தனித்துவமானது. இல்லையா?” என்று கேட்டாள்.

“நீ சொல்வது முற்றிலும் சரி,” என்று லட்சுமண் பதிலளித்தார். “இந்தப் பயணத்தில் நீ என்னுடன் இல்லாதது எனக்குக் குறையாக இருந்தது. உறவினர் திருமணத்தில் கலந்து கொள்ள வேண்டியதால் உன்னால் வர முடியவில்லை. ஜப்பான் உண்மையிலேயே அற்புதமான நாடு. அங்குள்ள அழகிய இடங்கள், வண்ணமயமான மலர்கள், ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் மிகவும் சுறுசுறுப்பாகவும் ஒழுங்காகவும் வாழும் வாழ்க்கை முறை எனக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்தது.”

அந்த நேரத்தில் பசவராஜ் தொலைபேசியில் அழைத்தார்.

“வணக்கம், லட்சுமண்! வீட்டிற்கு வந்ததும் ஐந்து மணி நேரம் நன்றாகத் தூங்கினேன். இப்போது மிகவும் புத்துணர்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறேன். இன்று மாலை நம் விருப்பமான உணவகத்திற்குச் செல்லலாமா?” என்று கேட்டார்.

அதற்கு லட்சுமண், “உணவகத்திற்குச் செல்ல வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லை. நீ என் வீட்டிற்கு நடந்து வரும் தூரத்தில்தான் இருக்கிறாய். இங்கே வா, சிறிது நேரம் ஒன்றாகக் கழிப்போம்,” என்றார்.

சுமார் ஒரு மணி நேரத்திற்குப் பிறகு, தனது மனைவி ராதிகா தயாரித்த இனிப்புகள் அடங்கிய ஒரு பெட்டியுடன் பசவராஜ் வந்தார்.

தர்ஷனா அவரை அன்புடன் வரவேற்றாள்.

“இந்த இனிப்புகளை கொண்டு வந்ததற்கு நன்றி. ராதிகாவிற்கும் என் நன்றியைத் தெரிவியுங்கள்,” என்றாள்.

பிறகு, “அண்ணா, உங்கள் பயணம் எப்படி இருந்தது?” என்று கேட்டாள்.

“மிகவும் அருமையாக இருந்தது,” என்று பசவராஜ் பதிலளித்தார். “ஜப்பான் ஒரு அழகான நாடு. அங்குள்ள மக்கள் மிகவும் உழைப்பாளிகளும் எப்போதும் பிஸியாக இருப்பவர்களும் ஆவர்.”

தேநீரும் வெங்காயப் பக்கோடாவும் சாப்பிட்ட பிறகு, பசவராஜ் தர்ஷனாவிடம், “இந்தப் பக்கோடா மிகவும் சுவையாக இருக்கிறது. நன்றி,” என்றார்.

Roopesh never expected to receive an invitation from the famous writer Manohar for his felicitation function at a star hotel on Sunday. He had met the writer during an official trip to Singapore, where Manohar had been invited by a renowned Tamil literary association. Now, the function was being held in Roopesh's hometown, Bangalore.

Roopesh asked his wife, Anusha, whether she would accompany him, as the invitation was meant for both husband and wife. Anusha had often heard her friends praise the luxurious hotel and readily agreed.

On Sunday, a huge crowd had gathered in front of the hotel. As Roopesh drove in, the security guard welcomed him and directed him toward the main hall. When Roopesh and Anusha entered, they were surprised to see many Sandalwood film personalities seated inside, smiling and greeting guests.

Just then, an announcement came from the stage:

“Dear friends, Manohar will be arriving shortly as he is completing the final scene of his film.”

Roopesh was puzzled. Why would a famous writer be shooting a film?

His confusion was cleared when the actor seated next to him explained, “Manohar is a popular film director and is always busy with shooting schedules.”

Roopesh immediately showed his invitation card. The actor looked at it and whispered, “Your Manohar's function is being held in another hall further down the corridor.”

Roopesh thanked him and turned to Anusha.

“How did the security guard send us here?” he asked.

Anusha smiled and replied, “He probably saw the name Manohar on the invitation and assumed we were attending this function.”

The couple then went to the correct hall, where the writer Manohar's felicitation ceremony was taking place. They enjoyed the literary event and later had a delicious dinner.

That day, Roopesh learned how two famous people sharing the same name—one a writer and the other a film director—had created a memorable confusion.

Good Clip.

 Another excellent clip from Unsung Hero by Director Nagabharana, featuring Cinematographer G.S. Bhaskar, focused on the late cinematographer Ramachandra. As someone who has always admired the great stalwarts of cinematography, I found Bhaskar's narration of his experiences with Ramachandra both insightful and engaging. His discussion of the article he wrote on Ramachandra for The Hindu added further depth to the conversation.

Passion plays a vital role in every individual's pursuit of different subjects and professions. Although I am not a photographer myself, I have admired cinematography since my younger days. This clip's discussion on cinematography, framing, and visual composition reminded me of another legendary cinematographer, V.K. Murthy, one of my all-time favourites, known for classics such as Love in Tokyo and many other memorable films.

Overall, it was a very informative and enjoyable clip that paid tribute to the dedication, creativity, and passion of great cinematographers.

பிரபல எழுத்தாளர் மனோகரின் பாராட்டு விழாவிற்கான அழைப்பிதழ் தனக்கு வரும் என்று ரூபேஷ் ஒருபோதும் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. அந்த விழா ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை ஒரு நட்சத்திர ஹோட்டலில் நடைபெறவிருந்தது.

சிங்கப்பூரில் நடைபெற்ற ஒரு அலுவல் பயணத்தின் போது, புகழ்பெற்ற தமிழ் இலக்கிய அமைப்பு ஒன்றின் அழைப்பின் பேரில் வந்திருந்த எழுத்தாளர் மனோகரை ரூபேஷ் சந்தித்திருந்தார். இப்போது அந்த பாராட்டு விழா ரூபேஷின் சொந்த ஊரான பெங்களூரில் நடைபெறவிருந்தது.

அழைப்பிதழ் கணவன்-மனைவி இருவருக்கும் என்பதால், தன்னுடன் வருவாயா என்று ரூபேஷ் தனது மனைவி அனுஷாவிடம் கேட்டார். அந்த ஆடம்பரமான ஹோட்டலைப் பற்றி தனது தோழிகள் பலமுறை புகழ்ந்து பேசியதை கேட்டிருந்த அனுஷா மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் சம்மதித்தாள்.

அவரது குழப்பத்திற்கு அருகில் அமர்ந்திருந்த நடிகர் விளக்கம் அளித்தார்.

“மனோகர் ஒரு பிரபல திரைப்பட இயக்குநர். படப்பிடிப்புப் பணிகளில் எப்போதும் பிஸியாக இருப்பார்,” என்றார்.

உடனே ரூபேஷ் தனது அழைப்பிதழைக் காட்டினார். அதை பார்த்த நடிகர் மெதுவாகச் சிரித்தபடி,

“அழைப்பிதழில் ‘மனோகர்’ என்ற பெயரை மட்டும் பார்த்து, நாம் இந்த விழாவிற்குத்தான் வந்திருக்கிறோம் என்று நினைத்திருக்கலாம்,” என்றாள்.

பிறகு அந்த தம்பதியினர் சரியான அரங்கத்திற்குச் சென்றனர். அங்கு எழுத்தாளர் மனோகரின் பாராட்டு விழா சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அவர்கள் இலக்கிய நிகழ்ச்சியை ரசித்ததோடு, பின்னர் சுவையான இரவு உணவையும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் சாப்பிட்டனர்.

Today, the media, advertising, film acting, and various technical fields of the film industry are growing rapidly and taking on new dimensions. The digital transformation of cinema has enabled films in different languages to reach wider audiences across regions and countries. As a result, many new employment opportunities have emerged, especially in areas such as dubbing, subtitling, translation, editing, visual effects, and digital content creation.

Alongside government film institutes, many legendary directors and film personalities have established their own film schools and training centers across almost all the southern states of India. These institutions have made a significant contribution to the development of the film industry by providing professional training in acting, direction, cinematography, editing, screenwriting, sound design, animation, and other technical disciplines.

The growing enthusiasm among both men and women to pursue filmmaking and acting as a career is highly commendable. The efforts of veteran directors and film educators to nurture talent, strengthen regional cinema, and create opportunities for aspiring artists and technicians deserve appreciation. Their vision of promoting state languages and cultures through cinema while recruiting and training talented individuals is truly welcome.

Every state should encourage its creative youth, support film education, and invest in the growth of its regional film industry. Strong local cinema not only preserves language and culture but also contributes to economic development and employment generation.

Srivilliputtur Encounter

Swamy was worried. His son, Sanjay, had left for Shencottah to attend his friend Suresh's wedding, but more than twenty-four hours had passed without any communication from him. Every time Swamy and his wife tried calling, Sanjay's phone was switched off.

Swamy searched for Suresh's wedding invitation, hoping to find some contact details, but he could not locate it. Sanjay had taken the invitation with him. His anxiety grew with every passing hour.

There was another reason for Swamy's concern. In two days, Sanjay had to play the final match of a prestigious carrom tournament with a prize money of ₹1,00,000. Sanjay had been an excellent carrom player since childhood. Even after joining the Drug Control Department as a Drug Inspector, his passion for the game had never diminished.

Suddenly, Swamy's phone rang. Thinking it was Sanjay, he answered immediately. However, it was an unfamiliar number.

"Hello, is Sanjay there?" asked a female voice.

"Sanjay is out of town. He has gone to Shencottah for a wedding. May I know who is speaking?" Swamy replied.

"My name is Swapna. I work in a bank, and I am also a carrom player. I wanted to meet Sanjay regarding my participation in a tournament in Bangalore next week."

"I see. I will inform him when he calls," said Swamy.

Swapna thanked him and ended the call.

About ten minutes later, Swamy received another call. This time it was Sanjay's friend, Shekar.

"Hello, Uncle. Please don't worry. Sanjay is safe," Shekar said.

"What happened?" Swamy asked anxiously.

"While travelling by train, Sanjay met his old school teacher, Mukundan. They were happily chatting when, as the train reached Srivilliputtur Station, Mukundan suddenly collapsed. Since Srivilliputtur is his hometown, Sanjay immediately took him to a nearby hospital."

"Oh my God!" exclaimed Swamy.

"In the confusion, Sanjay forgot his mobile phone on his train seat. Fortunately, the passenger sitting next to him had overheard their conversation and knew Mukundan's family because they lived on the same street. He collected the phone, informed Mukundan's family, and later delivered it to the hospital. After ensuring his teacher was safe, Sanjay rushed to attend my wedding. He is having breakfast now and is perfectly fine."

Relieved, Swamy thanked Shekar.

Two days later, after attending the wedding, Sanjay returned home.

That evening, Mukundan called Sanjay and requested to speak with his father.

"Hello, Mr. Swamy," said Mukundan. "I am alive today because of your son. His timely help saved my life. My wife and I are deeply grateful. If Sanjay is not already married, we would be honored to consider him as a match for our daughter, Kothai. I am sending you her photograph. If he is already married, please ignore this message."

A few moments later, Swamy received Kothai's photograph. He was impressed by her grace and pleasant appearance.

Swamy's wife smiled and said, "This is a good sign. Perhaps it is the blessing of Kothai Nachiar of Srivilliputtur."

Sanjay looked at the photograph and quietly whispered, "True."

ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் சந்திப்பு

சுவாமி மிகவும் கவலையுடன் இருந்தார். அவரது மகன் சஞ்சய், தனது நண்பர் சுரேஷின் திருமணத்தில் கலந்துகொள்ள செங்கோட்டைக்கு சென்றிருந்தான். ஆனால் இருபத்திநான்கு மணி நேரத்திற்கும் மேலாகியும் அவனிடமிருந்து எந்த தகவலும் வரவில்லை. சுவாமியும் அவரது மனைவியும் பலமுறை அழைத்துப் பார்த்தனர்; ஆனால் சஞ்சயின் கைபேசி அணைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

சுரேஷின் திருமண அழைப்பிதழில் ஏதேனும் தொடர்பு எண் இருக்குமோ என்று சுவாமி தேடிப் பார்த்தார். ஆனால் அந்த அழைப்பிதழை சஞ்சயே எடுத்துச் சென்றிருந்ததால், அதை அவர் கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. நேரம் செல்லச் செல்ல அவரது பதற்றம் அதிகரித்தது.

சுவாமி கவலைப்படுவதற்கு இன்னொரு காரணமும் இருந்தது. இன்னும் இரண்டு நாட்களில், ஒரு புகழ்பெற்ற கேரம் போட்டியின் இறுதிப் போட்டியில் சஞ்சய் விளையாட வேண்டியிருந்தது. அந்தப் போட்டியின் முதல் பரிசுத் தொகை ₹1,00,000. சிறுவயதிலிருந்தே சஞ்சய் சிறந்த கேரம் வீரராக விளங்கினான். பின்னர் மருந்துக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுத் துறையில் மருந்து ஆய்வாளராக (Drug Inspector) பணியில் சேர்ந்த பிறகும், கேரம் விளையாட்டின் மீதான அவனது ஆர்வம் குறையவில்லை.

அந்த நேரத்தில் திடீரென சுவாமியின் கைபேசி ஒலித்தது. அது சஞ்சயின் அழைப்பாக இருக்கும் என்று நினைத்து உடனே எடுத்தார். ஆனால் அது அறிமுகமில்லாத ஒரு எண்.

“ஹலோ, சஞ்சய் இருக்கிறாரா?” என்று ஒரு பெண் குரல் கேட்டது.

“சஞ்சய் வெளியூருக்கு சென்றிருக்கிறான். சுரேஷின் திருமணத்திற்காக செங்கோட்டைக்கு போயிருக்கிறான். நீங்கள் யார் என்று தெரிந்துகொள்ளலாமா?” என்று சுவாமி கேட்டார்.

“என் பெயர் ஸ்வப்னா. நான் ஒரு வங்கியில் வேலை செய்கிறேன். அதே சமயம் கேரம் விளையாட்டிலும் ஆர்வமுள்ளவள். அடுத்த வாரம் பெங்களூரில் நடைபெறும் ஒரு போட்டியில் நான் பங்கேற்கிறேன். அதைப் பற்றி சஞ்சயைச் சந்திக்க விரும்பினேன்,” என்றாள்.

“சரி, அவன் தொடர்பு கொண்டவுடன் நான் தெரிவிக்கிறேன்,” என்றார் சுவாமி.

ஸ்வப்னா நன்றி கூறி அழைப்பை முடித்தாள்.

சுமார் பத்து நிமிடங்கள் கழித்து, சுவாமிக்கு மீண்டும் ஒரு அழைப்பு வந்தது. இந்த முறை அது சஞ்சயின் நண்பர் சேகர்.

“ஹலோ மாமா, தயவு செய்து கவலைப்பட வேண்டாம். சஞ்சய் பாதுகாப்பாக இருக்கிறான்,” என்றான் சேகர்.

“என்ன நடந்தது?” என்று பதற்றத்துடன் கேட்டார் சுவாமி.

“ரயிலில் பயணம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தபோது, சஞ்சய் தனது பழைய பள்ளி ஆசிரியரான முகுந்தனை சந்தித்தான். இருவரும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். அப்போது ரயில் ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் நிலையத்தை அடைந்தபோது, முகுந்தன் திடீரென மயங்கி விழுந்தார். ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூரே அவரது சொந்த ஊர் என்பதால், சஞ்சய் உடனடியாக அவரை அருகிலிருந்த மருத்துவமனைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றான்.”

“ஐயோ! அப்படியா?” என்று சுவாமி அதிர்ச்சியுடன் கூறினார்.

“அந்த அவசரத்தில் சஞ்சய் தனது கைபேசியை ரயிலில் இருந்த இருக்கையிலேயே மறந்து விட்டான். அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக, அருகில் அமர்ந்திருந்த ஒரு பயணி அவர்கள் பேசியதை கேட்டிருந்தார். மேலும், முகுந்தனின் குடும்பத்தை அவர் அறிந்திருந்தார்; அவர்கள் ஒரே தெருவில் வசித்தனர். அவர் கைபேசியை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, முகுந்தனின் குடும்பத்தாருக்கு தகவல் தெரிவித்து, பின்னர் மருத்துவமனைக்கு கொண்டு வந்து கொடுத்தார். தனது ஆசிரியர் நலமாக இருப்பதை உறுதிசெய்த பிறகு, சஞ்சய் என் திருமணத்திற்கு வந்தான். இப்போது காலை உணவு சாப்பிட்டுக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான். அவன் நலமாக இருக்கிறான்,” என்றான் சேகர்.

அன்றைய மாலை, முகுந்தன் சஞ்சயை அழைத்து, அவரது தந்தையிடம் பேச விரும்புவதாக கூறினார்.

“வணக்கம் திரு. சுவாமி,” என்றார் முகுந்தன். “இன்று நான் உயிருடன் இருப்பதற்கு உங்கள் மகன்தான் காரணம். அவன் சரியான நேரத்தில் செய்த உதவி என் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றியது. நானும் என் மனைவியும் அவனுக்கு மனமார்ந்த நன்றிக்கடன் பட்டிருக்கிறோம். சஞ்சய்க்கு இன்னும் திருமணம் ஆகவில்லை என்றால், எங்கள் மகள் கோதையை அவனுக்கு மணமகளாக பரிசீலிக்க விரும்புகிறோம். அவளுடைய புகைப்படத்தை இப்போது அனுப்புகிறேன். ஏற்கனவே திருமணம் ஆகி இருந்தால், இந்தச் செய்தியைப் பொருட்படுத்த வேண்டாம்.”

Self-Dependence: A New Learning Journey

Ramappa came to visit Harish, the son of his friend Ramnath. Harish worked in the IT sector and was well-versed in mobile applications, online services, and data entry.

Ramappa had retired from the Civil Supplies Department at the age of sixty and had been retired for two years. He did not have much knowledge of the internet or mobile applications. However, he had slowly learned to use a smartphone and could manage many tasks on his own. Still, he wanted to learn a few more things, such as booking autos and taxis, submitting Form 15H to the bank, and making payments through GPay.

Since it was a holiday for Harish, Ramappa decided to visit him after calling in advance. His own son worked in a bank and was always busy with work and inspections. His grandson was studying in the final year of B.Sc. and Ramappa did not want to disturb him. His strong desire to learn motivated him to seek Harish’s help.

Harish, who was around thirty years old, was knowledgeable in information technology and had completed several IT courses. He lived in a comfortable apartment in the Gubbalala area.

When Ramappa arrived, Harish warmly welcomed him. Harish’s wife, Shalini, offered him some sweets because it was her birthday. After chatting for about ten minutes, Harish asked, “Uncle, please tell me one by one what you would like to learn.”

Ramappa began listing his doubts: auto bookings, Form 15H submission, GPay transfers from his bank account, and several other online services.

For the next hour, Harish patiently explained everything. Ramappa listened carefully, practiced the steps on his phone, and made notes for future reference. At the end, he thanked Harish sincerely.

Harish smiled and said, “Uncle, you are welcome anytime. I really appreciate your interest in learning. It is wonderful that you want to do things yourself instead of depending on others, especially when everyone is busy with their own responsibilities.”

Ramappa returned home feeling happy and confident. Seeing the satisfaction on his face, his wife Rohini smiled and said, “Your face tells me that your purpose was served today.”

Ramappa nodded and replied, “Yes, dear. Now I do not need to disturb others for every small task. I can do many things by myself.”

Rohini smiled and said, “I know your nature. You always want to learn, regardless of your age or shyness.”

Ramappa felt proud of himself. He realized that learning never stops and that self-dependence brings both confidence and happiness.

Moral: There is no age limit for learning. Self-dependence and a willingness to learn make life easier and more fulfilling.

Good movie Mr Garagasa.

 Entertaining movie Mr Garagasa.

I recently watched the entertaining movie Mr. Garagasa. Even after more than 18 years, the film remains highly enjoyable and entertaining.

The performances by Anant Nag, Aishwarya, Lakshmi Hegde, Sudharani, Nagabharana, Ramesh Bhat, and Komal as Munia were excellent. Komal's comedy, in particular, added great entertainment value to the film.

The music composed by Manikanth Kadri was pleasant and memorable. The editing by Easwar and the cinematography by Dinesh Baboo were admirable. Dinesh Baboo also deserves praise for his direction.

Ramesh Bhat's portrayal of the doctor was delightful and showcased his trademark style and comic timing. As the producer, Anant Nag also played his role exceptionally well and contributed significantly to the film's success.

Overall, Mr. Garagasa remains a thoroughly entertaining family comedy that can still be enjoyed today.

ராமநாத்தின் மகனான ஹரிஷைச் சந்திக்க ராமப்பா வந்தார். ஹரிஷ் தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறையில் பணிபுரிந்தார். மொபைல் செயலிகள், ஆன்லைன் சேவைகள் மற்றும் தரவு உள்ளீடு போன்றவற்றில் அவருக்கு நல்ல தேர்ச்சி இருந்தது.

ராமப்பா, சிவில் சப்ளைஸ் துறையில் அறுபது வயதில் ஓய்வு பெற்றவர். அவர் ஓய்வு பெற்று இரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் ஆகிவிட்டன. இணையம் மற்றும் மொபைல் செயலிகள் பற்றிய அறிவு அவருக்கு அதிகமாக இல்லை. ஆனால், மெதுவாக ஸ்மார்ட்போனைப் பயன்படுத்தக் கற்றுக்கொண்டு, பல வேலைகளைத் தானாகச் செய்யத் தொடங்கியிருந்தார். இருந்தாலும், ஆட்டோ மற்றும் டாக்ஸி முன்பதிவு செய்வது, வங்கியில் படிவம் 15H-ஐ சமர்ப்பிப்பது, ஜிபே (GPay) மூலம் பணம் அனுப்புவது போன்ற இன்னும் சில விஷயங்களைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ள விரும்பினார்.

மகிழ்ச்சியும் தன்னம்பிக்கையும் நிறைந்த மனதுடன் ராமப்பா வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பினார். அவரது முகத்தில் தெரிந்த திருப்தியைப் பார்த்த அவரது மனைவி ரோகிணி புன்னகையுடன், “இன்று நீங்கள் சென்ற நோக்கம் நிறைவேறியிருக்கிறது என்று உங்கள் முகமே சொல்கிறது,” என்றார்.

ராமப்பா தலையசைத்து, “ஆமாம். இனி ஒவ்வொரு சிறிய வேலைக்கும் மற்றவர்களைத் தொந்தரவு செய்ய வேண்டியதில்லை. பல விஷயங்களை நானே செய்து கொள்ள முடியும்,” என்றார்.

ரோகிணி புன்னகையுடன், “உங்கள் குணம் எனக்குத் தெரியும். வயது எவ்வளவு ஆனாலும், தயக்கம் இருந்தாலும், நீங்கள் எப்போதும் புதிதாக ஏதாவது கற்றுக்கொள்ள விரும்புவீர்கள்,” என்றார்.

ராமப்பா தன்னைப் பற்றி பெருமைப்பட்டார். கற்றல் என்பது ஒருபோதும் முடிவடையாத பயணம் என்பதையும், சுயசார்பு மனிதனுக்கு தன்னம்பிக்கையையும் மகிழ்ச்சியையும் தருகிறது என்பதையும் அவர் உணர்ந்தார்.

கற்றலுக்கு வயது வரம்பு இல்லை. சுயசார்பும் கற்றுக்கொள்ளும் மனப்பான்மையும் வாழ்க்கையை எளிதாகவும் நிறைவாகவும் மாற்றுகின்றன.

Encounter with Gratitude

After retiring from the Railway Department as a Station Master, Ramiah settled in his native town of Channapatna. One day, he traveled to Pandavapura to attend the wedding of his friend's daughter. While there, he decided to visit the current Station Master, Nagaraj.

Nagaraj warmly welcomed Ramiah and offered him a cup of tea. As they sat together, they reminisced about their old days in the railway service. After some time, Nagaraj said, "A friend of mine is driving to Bangalore. He can drop you at Channapatna on the way."

About fifteen minutes later, Nagaraj's friend arrived and greeted Ramiah respectfully. Ramiah returned the greeting. The friend, Somasekhar, invited him to join the journey.

Both of them got into the car. Meanwhile, the driver returned from the restroom. He was a well-mannered young man of about twenty-seven, with a pleasant personality. He greeted Ramiah politely.

Soon, they started their journey, and Nagaraj wished them a safe trip.

As they drove along, the driver suddenly asked, "Sir, do you recognize me?"

Ramiah looked carefully but could not remember him.

The driver smiled and said, "Sir, I am Manickam, the son of your maid Muniamma, who worked in your house when you were posted at Mysore Station. You helped pay my school fees and encouraged me to study well."

Ramiah's face brightened with recognition.

"Now I remember! You are Muniamma's son. I am very happy to see you," he said.

Manickam continued, "Today I work as a foreman in a factory in Bangalore. Somasekhar sir knows me well, and that is why I came to help him today."

Ramiah nodded with satisfaction. He remembered helping Manickam with his studies because Muniamma had been a loyal and hardworking woman.

After a brief silence, Manickam said softly, "Sir, my mother passed away recently due to cancer. Before she died, she often said that she wanted to meet you one day and thank you for helping me build my future."

Ramiah felt saddened.

"I am very sorry to hear that," he replied. "Your mother was a wonderful woman."

Manickam smiled gently and said, "Though my mother could not thank you personally, I had the good fortune of meeting you today. In a way, I am fulfilling her wish."

By then, they had reached Channapatna. As Ramiah got down from the car, he gave Manickam his phone number and invited him to visit whenever possible.

As he watched the car drive away, Ramiah felt deeply touched. The gratitude shown by Muniamma's son reminded him that even a small act of kindness can leave a lasting impact on someone's life.

Moral: Kindness may be forgotten by the giver, but it is often remembered with gratitude by the receiver for a lifetime.

 I recently watched the Beyond Limits interview featuring the versatile Sandalwood actor Ramesh Bhat. Whether the clip was old or new, I happened to watch it recently and was deeply impressed by his simplicity, frankness, and down-to-earth personality.

His vast experience in theatre and his association with several stalwart directors over the years are truly admirable. Completing more than fifty-one years in the film industry and acting in over 600 films is a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about his dedication and talent.

The casual and engaging interview conducted by the Beyond Limits anchor brought out many lesser-known aspects of Ramesh Bhat's personality. It offered viewers an opportunity to see the person behind the actor—humble, candid, and rich with experiences from a long and distinguished career. நன்றியுணர்வின் சந்திப்பு

ரயில்வே துறையில் நிலைய மேலாளராக (Station Master) பணியாற்றி ஓய்வு பெற்ற பிறகு, ராமையா தனது சொந்த ஊரான சன்னப்பட்டணாவில் குடியேறினார். ஒரு நாள், தனது நண்பரின் மகளின் திருமணத்தில் கலந்துகொள்வதற்காக பாண்டவபுராவிற்கு சென்றார். அங்கு சென்றிருந்தபோது, தற்போதைய நிலைய மேலாளரான நாகராஜைச் சந்திக்க முடிவு செய்தார்.

நாகராஜ் அவரை அன்புடன் வரவேற்று ஒரு கப் தேநீர் வழங்கினார். இருவரும் அமர்ந்து ரயில்வே பணியில் இருந்த பழைய நாட்களை நினைவுகூர்ந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து நாகராஜ், “என் நண்பர் ஒருவர் காரில் பெங்களூருக்குச் செல்கிறார். வழியிலேயே உங்களை சன்னப்பட்டணாவில் இறக்கிவிடுவார்,” என்றார்.

சுமார் பதினைந்து நிமிடங்கள் கழித்து நாகராஜின் நண்பர் வந்தார். அவர் ராமையாவை மரியாதையுடன் வணங்கினார். ராமையாவும் புன்னகையுடன் பதில் வணக்கம் தெரிவித்தார். அந்த நண்பர் சோமசேகர், அவரை தன்னுடன் பயணிக்க அழைத்தார்.

இருவரும் காரில் அமர்ந்தனர். அதற்குள் ஓட்டுநர் கழிவறைக்குச் சென்று திரும்பி வந்தார். சுமார் இருபத்தேழு வயது மதிக்கத்தக்க, நல்ல பழக்கவழக்கமுள்ள இளைஞர். அவர் ராமையாவை பணிவுடன் வணங்கினார்.

சிறிது நேரத்தில் அவர்கள் பயணத்தைத் தொடங்கினர். நாகராஜ் அவர்களுக்கு பாதுகாப்பான பயண வாழ்த்துகளைத் தெரிவித்தார்.

பயணத்தின் போது திடீரென்று ஓட்டுநர் கேட்டார்:

“ஐயா, என்னை உங்களுக்கு நினைவிருக்கிறதா?”

ராமையா அவரை உற்றுப் பார்த்தார். ஆனால் நினைவுக்கு வரவில்லை.

இளைஞர் புன்னகையுடன் கூறினார்:

“ஐயா, நான் மாணிக்கம். நீங்கள் மைசூர் நிலையத்தில் பணியாற்றியபோது, உங்கள் வீட்டில் வேலை செய்த முனியம்மாவின் மகன். என் பள்ளிக் கட்டணத்தை நீங்கள் செலுத்த உதவியதோடு, நன்றாகப் படிக்கவும் ஊக்கமளித்தீர்கள்.”

உடனே ராமையாவின் முகம் மலர்ந்தது.

“ஆஹா! இப்போது நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது. நீ முனியம்மாவின் மகனா? உன்னைப் பார்த்ததில் எனக்கு மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சி,” என்றார்.

மாணிக்கம் தொடர்ந்து,

“இப்போது நான் பெங்களூரிலுள்ள ஒரு தொழிற்சாலையில் மேற்பார்வையாளராக (Foreman) வேலை செய்கிறேன். சோமசேகர் ஐயாவுக்கு என்னை நன்றாகத் தெரியும். அதனால்தான் இன்று அவருக்கு உதவ வந்தேன்,” என்றான்.

ராமையா திருப்தியுடன் தலையசைத்தார். முனியம்மா மிகவும் விசுவாசமான, கடினமாக உழைக்கும் பெண் என்பதால், அவளுடைய மகனின் கல்விக்கு உதவியிருந்ததை அவர் நினைத்துப் பார்த்தார்.

சிறிது நேர அமைதிக்குப் பிறகு மாணிக்கம் மெதுவாகச் சொன்னான்:

“ஐயா, என் அம்மா சமீபத்தில் புற்றுநோயால் இறந்துவிட்டார். இறப்பதற்கு முன்பு, நீங்கள் எனக்கு செய்த உதவிக்காக ஒருநாள் உங்களை நேரில் சந்தித்து நன்றி சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று அடிக்கடி கூறிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.”

அதைக் கேட்ட ராமையா மிகவும் வருந்தினார்.

“அது மிகவும் வருத்தமான செய்தி. உன் அம்மா ஒரு அருமையான பெண்,” என்றார்.

மாணிக்கம் மென்மையாகப் புன்னகைத்து,

“என் அம்மாவால் உங்களுக்கு நேரில் நன்றி சொல்ல முடியவில்லை. ஆனால் இன்று உங்களைச் சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு எனக்குக் கிடைத்தது. ஒரு வகையில், அவருடைய ஆசையை நான் நிறைவேற்றியிருக்கிறேன்,” என்றான்.

அவர்கள் சன்னப்பட்டணாவை அடைந்துவிட்டனர். ராமையா காரிலிருந்து இறங்கியபோது, தனது தொலைபேசி எண்ணை மாணிக்கத்திடம் கொடுத்து, வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும் போதெல்லாம் வந்து சந்திக்குமாறு அழைத்தார்.

கார் தொலைவில் மறைந்து செல்லும் வரை பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்த ராமையாவின் மனம் நெகிழ்ந்தது. முனியம்மாவின் மகன் வெளிப்படுத்திய நன்றியுணர்வு, நாம் செய்யும் சிறிய உதவிகூட ஒருவரின் வாழ்க்கையில் நீண்டகால தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்பதை அவருக்கு மீண்டும் உணர்த்தியது.

நீதி: நாம் செய்த நன்மையை நாம் மறந்துவிடலாம்; ஆனால் அதனால் பயன் பெற்றவர் அதை வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் நன்றியுடன் நினைவில் வைத்திருப்பார்.

Amazing Mango Mela

Rohini had never expected that her friend Sharmila would invite her for lunch at a special place. They had been close friends since their college days. After marriage, both of their husbands got jobs and settled in Bangalore. They were also blessed with a son each. Their sons had gone to the United States a few years earlier for higher studies and were still pursuing their education there.

On a Sunday, Sharmila reached the destination at 12:00 p.m. As she approached the entrance, she was surprised to see a huge crowd waiting to enter. Many people had reserved their seats in advance.

Just then, Rohini came out and said, “Hey, come inside!”

As Sharmila entered, she noticed long queues of people waiting to collect various dishes.

Rohini whispered, “Today is the last day of the popular Mango Mela at this restaurant. Yesterday, I booked two seats in advance because I wanted to give you a pleasant surprise.”

Both friends walked to their table and began tasting different varieties of mangoes, mango-based sweets, and a delicious lunch. Sharmila was delighted. She had never imagined that Bangalore’s popular restaurant would be hosting such a grand Mango Mela.

Suddenly, Rohini whispered, “Look! A famous Sandalwood actress is coming this way.”

The actress approached them. Both friends greeted her warmly. She smiled and said, “Hello! I am Anooradha. That is my real name, though most people know me by my screen name.”

The two friends were pleasantly surprised. They soon learned that she was also thefriend  of the restaurant owner and a well-known novelist who wrote in both Kannada and English.

Anoiradha spent a few minutes chatting with them before greeting other guests.

After enjoying the delicious food and the lively atmosphere, Rohini and Sharmila left happily. The last day of the Mango Mela had become a memorable experience that they would cherish for a long time.

Moral: Good friends make ordinary days special with thoughtful surprises.

ரோஹிணி தனது தோழி ஷர்மிளா தன்னை ஒரு சிறப்பான இடத்தில் மதிய உணவுக்கு அழைப்பார் என்று ஒருபோதும் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. அவர்கள் கல்லூரி நாட்களிலிருந்தே நெருங்கிய தோழிகளாக இருந்தனர். திருமணத்திற்குப் பிறகு, அவர்களுடைய கணவர்கள் இருவருக்கும் வேலை கிடைத்து பெங்களூருவில் குடியேறினர். இருவருக்கும் தலா ஒரு மகன் பிறந்தான். அவர்களுடைய மகன்கள் சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு உயர்கல்விக்காக அமெரிக்கா சென்றிருந்தனர்; இன்னும் அங்கேயே தங்கள் படிப்பைத் தொடர்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தனர்.

ஒரு ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை, ஷர்மிளா மதியம் 12 மணிக்கு அந்த இடத்தை அடைந்தார். நுழைவாயிலுக்கு அருகில் சென்றபோது, உள்ளே செல்ல காத்திருந்த மிகப்பெரிய கூட்டத்தைக் கண்டு ஆச்சரியமடைந்தார். பலர் முன்பதிவு செய்து வைத்திருந்தனர்.

அந்த நேரத்தில், ரோஹிணி வெளியே வந்து,

“ஹேய், உள்ளே வா!” என்று அழைத்தார்.

ஷர்மிளா உள்ளே சென்றதும், பலவிதமான உணவுகளைப் பெற நீண்ட வரிசைகளில் மக்கள் காத்திருப்பதைக் கவனித்தார்.

ரோஹிணி மெதுவாக,

“இன்று இந்த உணவகத்தில் நடைபெறும் பிரபலமான மாம்பழ மேளாவின் கடைசி நாள். உனக்கு ஒரு இனிய ஆச்சரியம் கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக நேற்று நான் இரண்டு இருக்கைகளை முன்பதிவு செய்துவிட்டேன்,” என்றார்.

இரு தோழிகளும் தங்கள் மேசைக்குச் சென்று, பலவகையான மாம்பழங்கள், மாம்பழ இனிப்புகள் மற்றும் சுவையான மதிய உணவை ருசிக்கத் தொடங்கினர். ஷர்மிளா மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தார். பெங்களூருவின் பிரபலமான ஒரு உணவகத்தில் இவ்வளவு பிரம்மாண்டமான மாம்பழ மேளா நடைபெறும் என்று அவர் கனவிலும் நினைத்ததில்லை.

திடீரென்று ரோஹிணி மெதுவாக,

“அங்கே பார்! ஒரு பிரபலமான கன்னடத் திரைப்பட நடிகை நம்மை நோக்கி வருகிறார்,” என்றார்.

அந்த நடிகை அவர்களிடம் வந்தார். இருவரும் அவரை அன்புடன் வரவேற்றனர்.

அவர் புன்னகையுடன்,

“வணக்கம்! என் பெயர் அனூராதா. அதுதான் என் உண்மையான பெயர். ஆனால் பெரும்பாலானோர் என்னை என் திரைப்பெயரால்தான் அறிந்திருக்கிறார்கள்,” என்றார்.

இரு தோழிகளும் இனிய ஆச்சரியத்தில் மூழ்கினர். சிறிது நேரத்தில், அந்த நடிகை அந்த உணவகத்தின் உரிமையாளரும், கன்னடம் மற்றும் ஆங்கிலம் ஆகிய இரு மொழிகளிலும் எழுதும் புகழ்பெற்ற நாவலாசிரிyar friendஎன்பதை அறிந்தனர்.

அனூராதா சில நிமிடங்கள் அவர்களுடன் மகிழ்ச்சியாக உரையாடிவிட்டு, மற்ற விருந்தினர்களையும் வரவேற்கச் சென்றார்.

சுவையான உணவும், உற்சாகமான சூழலும் நிறைந்த அந்த அனுபவத்தை முழுமையாக ரசித்த பிறகு, ரோஹிணியும் ஷர்மிளாவும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வீடு திரும்பினர். மாம்பழ மேளாவின் கடைசி நாள், அவர்கள் வாழ்நாளில் மறக்க முடியாத இனிய நினைவாக மாறியது.

Sharath had recently married Smitha, a well-educated young woman from Chickmagalur  in the Karnataka region. She held a first-class MBA degree. Sharath's parents had always wished that their son would marry a traditional girl who respected elders and cherished family values.

Sharath was born and brought up in Bangalore and had a modern outlook on life. He enjoyed mingling with friends, attending parties, and participating in social gatherings. He worked in a multinational bank and earned a handsome salary along with attractive perks.

After the wedding, Smitha moved to Bangalore  to live with Sharath and his family. One day, Sharath's father, Suresh, introduced Smitha to some of his friends who had come to congratulate the family on the recent marriage. Smitha greeted all the elders with a respectful namaskaram and bowed before them as a mark of respect.

That night, Sharath told his mother, Seetha, "Please ask Smitha to simply say 'Namaste' to everyone. There is no need for her to bow before the elders."

The next day, Sharath encouraged Smitha to join a multinational company where he knew the senior manager. Impressed by her qualifications and abilities, the company offered her an excellent position, and she soon began her career there.

As time passed, Smitha proved to be both competent and hardworking. She earned the respect of her colleagues and supervisors. Despite her professional success, she remained humble, caring, and respectful toward everyone around her.

One day, Sharath's friend Laxman said to him, "You should feel fortunate. Your wife respects everyone and values relationships. Smitha is a wonderful example of a loving and traditional person. Your parents always wanted such a daughter-in-law, and you are lucky to have her."

Sharath reflected on his friend's words and finally understood that traditional behaviour is not about superiority or old-fashioned thinking. It is simply one way of expressing respect, love, gratitude, and consideration for others.

From that day onward, he appreciated Smitha's values even more and realized that modern education and traditional virtues can go hand in hand, creating a balanced and admirable personality.
