Small Story 641.
Encounter with a Flying Surprise
Ram normally started his morning walk at 7:00 a.m. One day, he received a call from his friend, Bhujangarao.
"Today, come to my walking spot and spend some time there for a change," Bhujangarao said.
Ram received the location and found it was only seven minutes away from his usual walking route. Curious, he headed there and joined Bhujangarao, who was already waiting.
"Why did you call me here?" Ram asked.
"I wanted to introduce you to one of your devoted readers," Bhujangarao replied. "He follows your blogs religiously. His name is Sandeep, a pilot working for Air India, and he is also my relative. He'll be here in five minutes."
Ram was passionate about writing and blogging, even while continuing his successful career as an architect with a well-known brand in the field. His wife, Suganya, was a respected dental surgeon with an excellent reputation of her own. Their only son, Kumar, worked in Mumbai for a leading advertising company.
A few minutes later, Sandeep arrived and warmly greeted both Ram and Bhujangarao. He was a handsome, well-mannered young man.
"I have been following your blogs and newspaper columns for years," Sandeep told Ram. "I especially enjoy your articles on Bollywood, old Kannada films, and your tribute columns on legendary artists."
Ram thanked him sincerely.
The three then walked to the nearby Rameswaram Cafe and enjoyed a delicious breakfast together. Sandeep was delighted to meet Ram, who was not only his favorite writer but also his uncle's close friend.
"I would love to meet you more often," Sandeep said.
As they were about to leave, Sandeep invited Ram to his betrothal ceremony scheduled for the following week in Bengaluru.
Ram casually asked about the bride.
"Her name is Preethi," Sandeep replied, sharing a few details about her family.
To Ram's surprise, Preethi was another one of his avid readers.
"That's wonderful!" Ram exclaimed. "Both the bride and groom are my readers. I will certainly attend."
After breakfast, they parted ways. On his way home, Sandeep kindly dropped Ram at his apartment.
When Ram shared the experience with Suganya, she was thrilled.
"My better half met one of his biggest fans today," she said with a smile. "That must have made your day."
Ram nodded happily. He had never expected that an ordinary morning walk would lead to meeting a "flying reader"—a pilot who admired his work.
As he reflected on the pleasant surprise, Ram silently thanked Bhujangarao for arranging such a memorable encounter.
Moral: Genuine writing creates connections that can reach unexpected heights and bring wonderful people into our lives.
