Today, I take immense pride in honoring the memory of a remarkable individual who not only spearheaded the Green Revolution in India but also left an indelible mark on the global stage. The late M.S. Swaminathan, hailing from the renowned temple city of Kumbakonam in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, carved an illustrious path in his professional journey, bringing immense glory to our nation in the realm of agriculture.
M.S. Swaminathan's contributions were undisputed, and he shared his expertise with various European countries during his tenure. Notably, he served as a UNESCO fellow at the Wageningen Agricultural University's Institute of Genetics in the Netherlands for several months, a testament to his dedication and global recognition.
