I write to you in reference to Rebecca Bundhun’s article Indian coffee firm’s shares plummet after founder goes missing (July 31).

This news item about the shocking disappearance of Indian tycoon VG Siddhartha, who was later found dead in a river in the Indian state Karnataka was incredibly perplexing.

Despite the controversial information that came up about him, I respect this man as he really made a name for himself from scratch.

Mr Siddhartha is a self-made billionaire and no one can deny that he left behind him a true legacy.

His passing is a terrible loss to the corporate world. My heart goes out to his family. I send my condolences to his bereaved loved ones.

India's Café Coffee Day owner didn't failI have failed - these words from the letter of Cafe Coffee Day founder V.G. Siddhartha sent shivers down my spine. The incidence of his disappearance has shocked many in India. It is beyond comprehension what could have pushed a man of so much talent and competitive spirit to take such an action. It's depressing to see how financial liabilities can take a toll on people, and suspend their ability to think rationally. But who would have expected a person like Siddhartha to succumb to such pressures. The authorities are still looking for him. I hope we find some answers.

But this does not necessarily mean the rumours are true.The players have an understanding, they share a common goal and a good team spirit. An out-of-this-world achievement

This is with reference to the Indian Space and Research Organisation (Isro), which successfully launched the Chandrayaan-2 rocket on July 22 (“Chandrayaan-2: India’s ‘Bahubali’ rocket takes off at 1.13pm UAE time on Monday”, Gulf News, July 23). The earlier launch of the rocket was disrupted by some technical snag. It has now been rectified. The rocket was successfully launched. Indian scientists deserve praise as they were capable of succeeding at this mission. It will improve India’s image in the world. I would like to wish the team on their achievement.
