 Small Story 539 – Trio Encounter

Manjunath called Ram one evening with exciting news. “Hey buddy, happy news! Our friend Vijay is arriving from Toronto tomorrow for his friend’s daughter’s wedding in Jayanagar. Let’s go to the airport in the morning, surprise him, and drop him at his hotel. His better half isn’t coming. I’ll pick you up near your metro station.”

Ram was thrilled. Meeting Vijay after sixteen years in the Garden City, Bengaluru, filled him with joy. The trio had been close friends during their long stay in Dubai, where they worked for more than a decade and a half. They had shared countless memories—visiting hotels, exploring the Emirates, and enjoying life together.

Later, Vijay moved to Canada with his family and settled there. Though his visits to Bengaluru were rare, he always made it a point to meet Manjunath and Ram. Ram’s wife and children were also excited about Vijay’s arrival.

The next morning, Manjunath and Ram reached the airport. The flight arrived on time. After about fifteen minutes, Vijay walked out. He was surprised and delighted to see his friends waiting for him, even though he had told them not to come.

After warm hugs and cheerful laughter, Vijay led them to the car arranged by the wedding party. Forty-five minutes later, they reached his star hotel. Vijay invited them in and offered tea. They planned to meet again the next day for lunch, as he would soon be leaving for his native place to visit relatives.

The following day, the trio met at a hotel and spent hours reminiscing about their professional lives and joyful outings in Dubai. Vijay smiled and said, “Only our physical appearance has changed. Our enthusiasm is still the same.” He added softly, “Enjoy your life, do what you love, and always eat good food. That’s my philosophy, and it keeps me happy.”

After a delightful meal and nearly two hours of heartfelt conversation, they parted ways—carrying renewed happiness and cherished memories in their hearts.

சிறுகதை 539 – மூவர் சந்திப்பு

ஒரு மாலை மஞ்சுநாத் ராமுக்கு உற்சாகமான செய்தியுடன் அழைத்தார்.

“ஹே நண்பா, சந்தோஷ செய்தி! நம்ம நண்பர் விஜய் நாளை டொரொண்டோவில் இருந்து ஜெயநகரில் நடக்கும் அவருடைய நண்பரின் மகளின் திருமணத்திற்காக வருகிறார். காலை விமான நிலையத்துக்கு போய் அவரை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தி, அவருடைய ஹோட்டலுக்கு விட்டுவிடலாம். அவருடைய மனைவி வரவில்லை. உன் மெட்ரோ நிலையம் அருகில் நான் உன்னை எடுத்து கொள்கிறேன்,” என்றார்.

பதினாறு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு ‘கார்டன் சிட்டி’ பெங்களூரில் விஜயை சந்திக்கப் போவதாக நினைத்த ராம் மகிழ்ச்சியில் திளைத்தார். துபாயில் பதினைந்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக வேலை செய்த காலத்தில், இம்மூவரும் நெருங்கிய நண்பர்களாக இருந்தனர். பல ஹோட்டல்களுக்கு செல்வதும், எமிரேட்ஸ் பகுதிகளைச் சுற்றிப்பார்ப்பதும், வாழ்க்கையை மகிழ்ச்சியாக அனுபவித்ததும் போன்ற எண்ணற்ற நினைவுகளை அவர்கள் பகிர்ந்திருந்தனர்.

பின்னர் விஜய் தனது குடும்பத்துடன் கனடாவுக்கு குடிபெயர்ந்து அங்கே தங்கினார். பெங்களூருக்கு அவருடைய வருகைகள் அரிதாக இருந்தாலும், மஞ்சுநாத் மற்றும் ராமை சந்திப்பதை அவர் எப்போதும் தவறவிட மாட்டார். ராமின் மனைவியும் குழந்தைகளும் விஜயின் வருகையை எதிர்நோக்கி உற்சாகமாக இருந்தனர்.

அடுத்த நாள் காலை, மஞ்சுநாத் மற்றும் ராம் விமான நிலையத்தை அடைந்தனர். விமானம் நேரத்துக்கு வந்தது. சுமார் பதினைந்து நிமிடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு விஜய் வெளியே வந்தார். வர வேண்டாம் என்று கூறியிருந்தாலும், தனது நண்பர்கள் காத்திருப்பதை பார்த்து அவர் ஆச்சரியமும் மகிழ்ச்சியும் அடைந்தார்.

Peace: A Rare Commodity

Ram entered Gururaj’s apartment to congratulate him on his recent elevation as Director in a leading publication company. About twelve people had gathered in the well-equipped living room of Gururaj’s apartment to celebrate the occasion.

Ram, a retired professional from a leading software company and a well-known blogger, was invited to say a few words about Gururaj. Now in his fifties, Gururaj was a handsome and respected person with a strong reputation in his field. Ram warmly congratulated him on his promotion and began addressing the friends and colleagues present.

He spoke about how Gururaj had earned a prestigious position in his multinational publication company, which produced works in various languages. His contribution as a storyteller was widely admired. Ram wished him many more successes in his career and expressed hope that his remarkable work in storytelling would continue to inspire readers in the years to come.

Before concluding, Ram added thoughtfully, “Peace has become a rare commodity at the global level.” All the members nodded in agreement, acknowledging the truth in his words. They then offered a silent prayer that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, including conflicts involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, would come to an end, and that safety and peace would prevail for all people affected.

The gathering ended not only as a celebration of success, but also as a reminder of the world’s deep need for peace.

அமைதி: அரிதாகிவரும் ஒரு செல்வம்

ராம், முன்னணி பதிப்பக நிறுவனத்தில் இயக்குநராக சமீபத்தில் உயர்வு பெற்ற குருராஜை வாழ்த்துவதற்காக அவரது அபார்ட்மெண்டிற்கு வந்தார். குருராஜின் நன்கு வசதியுடன் அமைந்திருந்த ஹாலில், அந்தச் சந்தர்ப்பத்தை கொண்டாட சுமார் பன்னிரண்டு பேர் கூடினர்.

முன்னணி மென்பொருள் நிறுவனத்தில் பணியாற்றி ஓய்வு பெற்றவரும், பிரபல வலைப்பதிவாளருமான ராம், குருராஜைப் பற்றி சில வார்த்தைகள் பேச அழைக்கப்பட்டார். ஐம்பதுகளில் உள்ள குருராஜ், அழகிய தோற்றத்துடன் தன்னுடைய துறையில் உயர்ந்த மரியாதையும் நல்ல பெயரையும் பெற்றிருந்தார். ராம் அவரை அவரது பதவி உயர்விற்காக உளமாற வாழ்த்தி, அங்கு கூடியிருந்த நண்பர்களையும் சக ஊழியர்களையும் நோக்கி உரையாற்றத் தொடங்கினார்.

Recent unpleasant developments in the Middle East, particularly the attacks on Iran by powerful nations such as the United States and Israel, have raised serious global concerns. These actions are reportedly aimed at regime change and stopping Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. Although tensions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions have persisted for decades, the sudden escalation on Saturday, February 28, came as a shock to many around the world.

Military action often invites retaliation, and history has shown that war rarely produces a concrete or lasting solution. Instead, it tends to deepen divisions and prolong instability. Meaningful dialogue and diplomatic engagement, as consistently emphasized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, may offer a more constructive path forward.

The world must also reflect on the immense suffering endured by civilians in the Middle East over decades of conflict. Ordinary people—families, children, and the elderly—bear the heaviest burden of geopolitical struggles. Their commitments and responsibilities to their loved ones are disrupted, and they are frequently caught in violence driven by power politics.

In times of war, it is difficult to completely shield civilian areas from harm. However, the protection of civilians must remain a top priority under international humanitarian principles. The international community has a moral and collective responsibility to come together, de-escalate tensions, and work toward peace.

Constructive dialogue, with careful consideration of the pros and cons of all perspectives, can help reduce current aggression. Only through mutual understanding, respect for sovereignty, and sustained diplomatic efforts can long-term peace and stability be achieved.

Message of Safety and Friendship

Satyanarayana was very happy to receive a message from his friend Murthy, who had been working in Dubai for more than two decades. In the message, Murthy assured him that he was safe.

The previous day, Satyanarayana had sent a message to Murthy asking about his safety because of the ongoing crisis involving attacks on Iran. Since Dubai in the UAE is geographically close, he was worried that there might be side effects from the conflict. After reading Murthy’s reply and knowing that he was safe, Satyanarayana felt relieved and peaceful.

After finishing his morning walk, Satyanarayana went to the usual meeting place where his friends were waiting. He happily shared the good news with them. Kothandaram whispered that his relative had also sent a message confirming safety and praised the UAE administration for its quick action in preventing any danger from the recent tensions.

All the friends prayed for the safety of their loved ones who were working or studying in the UAE. Ram nodded thoughtfully and said, “In today’s fast world, anything may happen at any time.” The other friends agreed with him. After spending some time together with thankful hearts, they departed for their homes.

பாதுகாப்பும் நட்பும் – ஒரு செய்தி

இருபதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட ஆண்டுகளாக Dubai நகரத்தில் வேலை செய்து வந்த தனது நண்பர் முர்த்தியிடமிருந்து ஒரு செய்தி வந்ததைப் பெற்ற சத்யநாராயணா மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தார். அந்த செய்தியில் தாம் பாதுகாப்பாக இருப்பதாக முர்த்தி உறுதியளித்திருந்தார்.

முந்தைய நாள், Iran மீது நடைபெற்ற தாக்குதல்களால் ஏற்பட்ட பதற்றநிலையை நினைத்து, சத்யநாராயணா முர்த்தியின் பாதுகாப்பைப் பற்றி கேட்டுச் செய்தி அனுப்பியிருந்தார்.
