Small Story 546.

 Small Story 546

A Purposeful Reunion

After six months, Arun met his group of friends at their usual restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant, located in Judicial Colony, had recently opened and had become very popular. Every day it attracted a good crowd, and everyone in the area liked the quality of the dishes.

Arun greeted his friends warmly. They were eager to hear about his trip abroad. He happily shared how much he had enjoyed his stay in Singapore. The cleanliness and discipline there had impressed him greatly. People stood patiently in queues for buses and trains, and everything was well organized. Arun had spent three months in Singapore and another three months in New Zealand with his wife, Vrindha. They had returned home with many happy memories.

However, after coming back to his home city, Arun felt a little upset about some small but important issues. He noticed that when delivery items arrived, the shopkeepers often used very thin paper covers. When the items were heavy, the covers sometimes tore and everything fell down. Arun felt that thick covers should be used for carrying heavier items. His friends immediately agreed.

His friend Shashi said, “We are improving in many areas, but we should also correct small things like this. Strong covers are necessary for carrying heavy items.”

Arun was known for raising his voice for common people. Many of his earlier suggestions had been accepted after he raised complaints with the authorities. This time too, his friends asked him to take up the matter of using thicker covers.

Another friend, Athmarao, added another concern. He said that the letters printed on tablet strip packs were often too small and difficult to read. He suggested that the letters should be printed in a bigger size so people could read them easily.

Arun agreed that both points were valid. He was also touched that his friends had missed him during his long holiday. They enjoyed a good breakfast together while discussing these issues and requesting Arun to help bring about these improvements.

Before leaving, Arun shared some happy news. His nephew had secured a seat in a cinematography course at a famous institute run by an award-winning Sandalwood director. Everyone congratulated him and felt delighted.

The friends finally departed with smiles and happiness. They were glad to meet Arun after six months and hopeful that, with his help, their small but important concerns would soon be addressed.
