Small Story 564.
A Day at the IPL Match
Ramu called Ganesh and asked whether he was willing to join him for today’s IPL T20 match at the local stadium. Ganesh was excited and ready to go, but his mother overheard the conversation and immediately said no.
Ganesh was shocked. He told Ramu that he would call him back in a few minutes and hung up the phone.
His mother, Smitha, said, “Do you remember last year? Many fans lost their lives. I am not willing to send you.”
Ganesh replied, “Mom, that incident was beyond control. Now the authorities are very vigilant and won’t allow overcrowding.”
But Smitha was still not convinced.
Hearing their conversation, his father, Ram, came out of the room. “Smitha, don’t worry. Once something like that happens, it doesn’t mean it will repeat forever. I trust the authorities will take proper care, and people are more responsible now.”
He continued, “Think about it—when there was talk about war recently, the whole world panicked about energy supplies, especially cooking gas. But things are stable now. We have to believe everything will go smoothly and trust in God.”
Smitha finally felt reassured. “Okay, Ganesh. Take care and be careful. You can tell Ramu you will join him—and don’t forget to pay your share.”
Ganesh smiled happily. “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for allowing me to watch my favorite team play today!”
