A Wedding That Opened New Doors

Murthy received a call from his old friend Kumar, now settled in Coimbatore, wishing him a happy Ramanavami. Kumar mentioned that he would be coming to Bengaluru to attend a friend’s daughter’s wedding and asked if he could stay with him. Murthy was delighted, and his wife Rekha was equally excited, as they hadn’t met Kumar’s family in six years. The last time they had met was at Kumar’s son’s wedding in Chennai; his son was now settled in Sydney.

Kumar and his wife lived in Coimbatore, though their native place was Udumalpet. Kumar and Murthy had worked together in the same bank in Bengaluru for six years. Even after moving to different places, their friendship remained strong through daily conversations on WhatsApp.

Murthy’s wife eagerly prepared their favorite dishes and sweets and even bought special treats from Anand to welcome them. A few days later, Kumar and his wife arrived. After warm greetings and reminiscing about old memories, they enjoyed a hearty lunch and took some rest.

In the evening, Kumar expressed his wish to watch old Kannada films of legendary actors Dr. Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan. Murthy arranged everything, and they spent a nostalgic evening enjoying those classics.

The next day, Kumar attended the wedding nearby and returned in the afternoon. During their conversation, Kumar shared that his son, Vasu, was a cinematographer working in a media company in Sydney. He had received several awards for his documentary films and was keen to work with directors in the Kannada film industry.

Murthy then remembered that one of his clients, Basappa, had an uncle named Director Chandrashekar. He offered to introduce Kumar to him. The next day, they met the director. After watching Vasu’s film clips, Chandrashekar was impressed and promised to keep him in mind for future projects. This assurance brought great joy to Kumar.

After spending two more days together, Kumar and his wife returned home, feeling happy and fulfilled. What began as a simple wedding visit turned into a meaningful opportunity for their son’s future.

Sometimes, reunions not only revive memories but also create new possibilities.
