Tribute to Economist , Writer and Professor Paul Krugman 509.

Today i am going to pen another interesting personality  from the Economics world is none other than Writer,Professor and Columnist Paul Krugman.I have been reading his articles regularly over a decade and more fascinated by his authenticity on economics.He served as a professor in famous Universities viz,Princeton,and others.He was bestowed many awards for his work and he is the author for many books.He was delivered many speeches on Economics on various places including German.
His contribution as a columnist in The New York Times was remarkable.One of the few Professors and Writers liked by every one.  If i am right he was  also  an influencer of   Legend Prof Avinash Dixit.Even though i am following his works  short period of a decade today i want to tribute this great Legend.This column i am writing  with my limited  knowledge  and if there is any error kindly ignore.

I write in response to your editorial There should be zero tolerance towards animal cruelty (10 June): The National's editorial was a meaningful read. The quote by Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi was apt and also true.

A country's moral progress is indeed determined by the way its animals are treated.

Abandoning pets should be treated as an offence and those engaging in such activity should be severely punished.

He was found dead in a hotel. Apparently, he took his own life, which comes as a great shock. Reports suggest depression may be one of the factors for people taking this type of action. Unfortunately it is not just celebrities who suffer with depression. People from various all walks of life are affected by depression. They should seek help.- K. Ragavan, Denver

I write in response to Dr Justin Thomas’s op-ed Anthony Bourdain’s tragic death shows depression has many faces(9 June): it was saddening to read this profound piece on the tragic death of this renowned chef, CNN anchor and world famous travel documentary maker Anthony Bourdain.

People in all walks of life suffer from depression, although many do not express themselves particularly well. It often takes tragic endings such as Bourdain’s for us to confront the pain caused by depression.

Letter Published in The National UAE on 10June 18 There's plenty behind the scenes in Bollywood's latestI write in reference to your article Film Review: Rajinikanth’s latest film Kaala was confused and truly terrible (June 8): Kumar Shyam’s comprehensive review of the much talked about Kaala, a new film starring Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, was a very good read.The film is being released after Rajinikanthannounced his newly formed party will contest the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, marking his official entry into politics. As a result, the release of Kaala received plenty of reaction from his fans and those interested in his future political career. Reactions to the film itself have been mixed; your review was certainly not favourable. But overall it has really clicked in India, particularly in Chennai. Bollywood stalwart Nana Patekar’s role in the movie was good. Over-advertising raises expectations and does not always yield positive results. But despite all the hurdles, the film got good marks overall.K Ragavan, Denver

Hollywood mogul, Harvey Weinstein’s bail was set at $1 million (“Harvey Weinstein indicted on rape charges”, Gulf News, June 1). The shameful act of the producer and director came into public view and he is now facing charges. He surrendered and this is the dramatic development of the case. While we are waiting on the outcome of the case, it has been interesting to see the latest development in the Hollywood film industry. Based on the accusations, Weinstein has been charged with rape. He was subject to a lengthy investigation by New York police over the past few months. Whatever the result of any court case, it will be difficult for him to recover from all the allegations, despite his awards and achievements. All celebrities have a responsibility to safeguard their reputation and adhere to the highest standards of behaviour. Film actresses and models won’t complain against him unless and until he misbehaved with them. Despite paying the bail amount, his reputation won’t come back. It is a sad state of affairs.
