Letter.

Letter Published in GulfNews UAE on 1 April 17,Why kill innocents?
I was appalled to read about the killing of some Indians in the US, mainly due to racism. Recently, a mother and her seven-year-old son were murdered for no apparent reason. The US authorities should improve the safety of immigrants who work and stay there. Such crimes should be investigated and the guilty should be punished. I pray for the victims and their grieving family members.

Letter.

Letter Published in GulfNews UAE on 30March 17,Arrogance on display
The behaviour displayed by Gaikwad against an Air India senior staff member should be strictly condemned. He assaulted the staff member with his sandal, which is completely unacceptable in a civil and democratic society. People are electing Members of Parliament to serve a primarily symbolic role, in order to enact good governance and serve the general interests of the public with respect towards all citizens, particularly seniors. Because Gaikwad was not given an executive seat, he demonstrated bad behaviour. With an open ticket for business class, he travelled on an all-economy flight without any executive seat. His arrogant behaviour and temper should not be tolerated by his political party.
The Parliament should also ban him from political candidacy so that any misdemeanour from public officials would be highlighted in the future. MPs should not think that they are superior to others. They are expected to serve by example to their people. The Indian government should implement some rules regarding this. The Parliament is a political system with the role of executing law and order for the development of the country. The Indian government should take some measures in disciplining arrogant government politicians, as they should be exemplary role models in society.

What lies ahead for India

Readers write to Gulf News about issues affecting them and their community
Gulf News
What lies ahead for India
This was a good read (“Did Yogi arm-twist Shah, Modi into decision?”, Gulf News, March 19). The announcement of Yogi Adityanath from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the new Chief Minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), India, has brought mixed reactions from the opposition on communal card. This appointment was the latest dramatic development in UP politics.
Proving his popularity and leadership to the people of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent election victory, his calculated appointment may bring a new turn in UP politics. Perhaps, Modi wanted to spread his Chief Ministers in all sections of the society and demonstrate to the people that his party is purely secular and not communal. This is a sudden change in UP politics. Will his new concept work? Let’s wait and see. In the end, everyone deserves a calm and peaceful life.
