I write to you in reference to your editorial Science will yield solutions for world’s problems(June 1). This was a pleasant read, which gave me insight into science’s limitless possibilities and the importance of research to solve pressing issues such as climate change.

Nowadays, students prefer to study business and engineering, as these are professions that guarantee employment. However, it is crucial that we encourage the young generation to pursue scientific careers. The world needs more scientists and innovators. They are the ones who are able to conduct research into sustainable energy sources and improve food security around the world. Finding creative solutions to the planet’s most difficult problems is more essential than ever.

Tribute to Cinematographer Late Madan Sinha 560.

Today i remembered another film personality from the Bolly Wood Film Industry is none other than Late Cinematographer Madan Sinha.Six decades back he had his days with working late leading actors of Bolly Wood viz,AshokKumar,Nutan.Padmini .Rajkumar  ,Johny Walker and present ManojKumar ,Dharmendra ,Hema Malini and many leading actors. He has few remarkable movies .
I have have seen few films of this Doyen.Those movies are,DusNumbri,Sharafat,RajaJani.Vaasna.,Aasra,Raat aur Din.BahuBeti. and Bandish.He has also directed two films if i am right.His frame work will be very nice especially films like Raja Jani,Dus Numbri,Sharafat.Even though he has departed more than four decades his films are still in front of us.

K Ragavan writes that the road widening work for international airport has killed the helitaxi shuttle service (Heli-taxi is K.I.A) is a vexing issue. The heli taxi service was affected by the work from the beginning.Due to this work the service was stopped for more than 15 days and the commuters were left in the lurch. How long would the work take is the question mark? The authorities can consider if are any other alternative ways to continue the service by providing it with another site. Having said that, the road widening work too is important. Hope the parties involved will work out some solution for this

This was an excellent piece. Narendra Modi has not only introduced a number of new faces but has also changed some portfolios of Indian cabinet of ministers. In my view this is very laudable. New portfolios handed to Amit Shah, Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh make real sense for India’s economic development path. The dramatic rise of Nirmala Sitharaman from defence to finance shows the confidence bestowed on her by Mr Modi.All three have portfolios that come with great power and responsibility. This BJP cabinet will deliver on the promises made before and during the election by Mr Modi and will fight corruption, which is necessary. In this way, it will make India not only proud but also prosperous. Congratulations to Mr Modi and his team for securing a second term.K Ragavan, Bengaluru
