Tribute 922.

Tribute to the Trio – Gemini, Vijaya-Vauhini, and AVM Studios922

Ever since cinema came into existence, it has captured people’s imagination, emotions, and love. Today, the film industry—across all languages—plays a vital role in shaping society and culture.

Decades ago, three iconic studios—Gemini Studios, Vijaya-Vauhini Studios, and AVM Productions—stood as pillars of filmmaking in South India. These studios witnessed the transition from the black-and-white era to the vibrant world of color cinema, reflecting remarkable technical advancement over time.

Chennai served as a major hub for filmmakers, attracting talent and producers from Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Many artists and technicians who came here eventually established themselves and built thriving careers. These three studios had the privilege of welcoming countless producers and filmmakers, providing them with world-class facilities.

In those days, even the Bollywood film industry depended on Chennai for color film processing, with Gemini Studios being especially renowned for its processing expertise. The expansive floors and advanced infrastructure of all three studios enabled the creation of films across genres, making them truly legendary.

Even today, Vadapalani in Chennai is fondly remembered as a film hub, attracting thousands of cinema enthusiasts and visitors. Though the visionary pioneers behind these studios are no longer with us, their legacy continues to resonate through the timeless films and the enduring spirit of their institutions.

Today, I am honored and delighted to pay my heartfelt tribute to this remarkable trio of studios, whose contributions to Indian cinema remain unforgettable.
