Small Story 601
People Are Not Always Fools
Ram received a call from his friend Basavaraj, asking him to come a little early to their usual meeting place. Ram was just finishing his morning walk, so he hurried over.
When he arrived, Basavaraj and the other friends greeted him warmly, offered him sweets, and congratulated him. Ram was surprised and asked what the occasion was.
They reminded him of his prediction about the recent election in the neighboring state. A few days earlier, Ram had confidently said that the people would vote out the long-standing dynasty government. While his friends had disagreed, believing that the ruling party would continue for decades, Ram had insisted that a change was coming—and he was right.
The election results had just been announced, and the government had indeed changed.
Ram smiled and said, “People in that state have understood the false promises, the law and order issues, and concerns about safety. They chose change. The new leader may be popular on screen, but now he must prove himself on the ground.”
He continued, “Arrogance, overconfidence, and ignoring people’s sentiments led to the fall of the dynasty. This result shows that people are powerful, and they can change their decisions when needed.”
His friends nodded in agreement.
Ram added, “Let us hope the new leader fulfills his promises and governs honestly, without corruption.”
After finishing their tea, the friends appreciated Ram’s thoughts and went their separate ways, reflecting on how people’s wisdom had shaped the future.
