 Small Story 604:

Poongulam Encounter

Rajesh reached Poongulam Village to scout locations for his new film. The village was 100 kilometers away from the bustling city of Bengaluru. It had been recommended by Rajesh’s classmate Shekar, who had settled there many years ago.

Rajesh was a celebrated film director who had earned many accolades for his movies. His films were appreciated by audiences and honored by several organizations. Among the twenty-five films he had directed, winning two National Awards was considered his greatest achievement. His talented team of technicians had always stood by him and delivered excellent work.

Rajesh’s thoughts were interrupted when Shankar arrived to receive him.

“Hey buddy, how are you?” asked Shankar warmly.

Rajesh smiled. “I am fine. This is a beautiful village with excellent locations.”

Shankar whispered, “Let us go to my house and take some rest. At 4 PM, our Panchayat Board Chairman himself will meet us. We can discuss the filming locations and permissions.”

That evening, Chairman Raju arrived and introduced himself.

“I am your fan, sir,” he said happily. “We are honored that you have selected our Poongulam for your new film.”

Rajesh smiled and replied softly, “I have always wanted to highlight villages in my films. Many talented people live in villages. Today, every village has internet and educational facilities. The children studying here are intelligent and will play an important role in developing our country in the future.”

He continued, “Poongulam is a beautiful village, well maintained by you and the villagers. Shankar, my old friend, knows my taste well, so he suggested this place. I am happy to shoot my new film entirely in this village over a four-month schedule. I am confident Poongulam will become widely known after the film releases.”

Raju felt proud and said, “I am sure you will make our village famous, Director sir.”

After spending three days exploring the locations, Rajesh returned to Bengaluru with confidence that his new film would receive a warm welcome from the people.
