 Small Story 606:

The Gift of Blessings

After receiving his promotion as Chief Executive, Ram was posted to Singapore for training. Ram had been working for a Singapore-based pharmaceutical company for more than a decade in various positions. Because of his dedication and excellent performance, he was elevated to the position of Chief Executive and was asked to visit the company headquarters in Singapore for training and to meet the Directors.

As instructed by the company, Ram left Chennai and reached Singapore, where he was warmly received by the Public Relations Officer. The next day, Ram arrived at the office and was greeted by the Board of Directors. All the Directors applauded Ram’s work and appreciated the tremendous growth of the Indian market under his leadership. The company now had 100 representatives, five Regional Managers, and 20 District Managers, with a huge turnover from its limited range of vitamin products.

The Managing Director began his speech:

“We are proud to have Ram with us. His new position will be based in Bengaluru, where our new factory will begin operations shortly.”

Ram was delighted to hear that the company’s new factory in India would soon be functioning, bringing greater recognition and growth to the organization.

After spending a week in Singapore and visiting many places, Ram returned to Chennai. His wife, Vasanthy, was very happy because many of her friends were settled in Bengaluru, and she looked forward to spending time with them.

Vasanthy had a long-cherished wish. She hoped that Asha, the daughter of her close friend Nandhini, would one day marry her son Vikas. Ram also knew about this wish and silently prayed for it.

The following week, Ram and Vasanthy moved to their newly furnished apartment in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. One evening, Nandhini arrived with her daughter Asha and took them out for dinner. Vikas, an engineer working in Chennai, had recently received an offer from a German firm and was likely to be posted in Bengaluru for five years.

Ram and Vasanthy were happy to meet Nandhini and Asha. After spending time together, they returned home with hopes of arranging the marriage of Vikas and Asha. Nandhini too shared the same feelings and prayed for Vikas’s posting to Bengaluru. Her husband, Charan, was also eagerly waiting for Vikas’s arrival.

A few months later, Vikas joined the new firm in Bengaluru and married Asha. Both families were overjoyed and settled happily.

Sometimes, people’s ambitions and heartfelt wishes are fulfilled easily because they are truly blessed. Vasanthy and Nandhini were perfect examples of this beautiful blessing.
