Small Story600.

Small Story600
The Mystery of Room 600
Ranjitha arrived at the newly opened Star Hotel in Yadavgiri, Mysore. The hotel had quickly gained popularity for its elegance and comfort. That day, she was assigned to assist guests staying in Room 600.
When she reached the room, Rohan was waiting for her along with his American wife, Sophia. They had come to Mysore on a holiday to explore its rich culture and heritage. However, their trip had suddenly turned stressful.
Sophia had lost her wallet during their outing. The wallet contained not only her credit cards but also an official key—one that was extremely important. The key opened her locker, which held several confidential documents. Sophia, who worked as an FBI officer, was deeply worried.
Rohan’s father, Ramnath, happened to be a close friend of Investigation Chief 001. Upon hearing about the situation, he immediately contacted the Chief and requested help. Following the Chief’s instructions, Ranjitha took charge of the case.
Ranjitha calmly spoke to Sophia, who was clearly upset. She reassured her and began gathering details.
“Can you tell me all the places you visited today?” Ranjitha asked.
Rohan replied, “After breakfast, we went to meet my old classmate. He is now working as a Director at CFTRI.”
Ranjitha nodded and continued, “Did you visit any other places? Sophia, did anything in particular interest you?”
Sophia thought for a moment and said, “I admire Swami Vivekananda and his teachings. I’ve always been fascinated by Indian spirituality.”
Ranjitha’s eyes lit up. “Did you happen to visit the Ramakrishna Ashram?”
Rohan suddenly remembered. “Yes! Since there is no Vivekananda memorial here, we went to the Ramakrishna Ashram. We met the Swamiji there. He showed Sophia a picture of Swami Vivekananda, and she was very happy. We spoke with him for about half an hour before leaving.”
Ranjitha smiled confidently. “Don’t worry. I believe I know where your wallet is. Let’s go to the Ashram.”
The three of them quickly headed to the Ramakrishna Ashram. As they arrived, the Swamiji welcomed them warmly.
Ranjitha explained the situation. “Swamiji, Sophia seems to have misplaced her wallet during her visit here. May we check the room where you met her?”
The Swamiji nodded kindly. “Of course. Please go ahead.”
Inside the room, there was a table filled with books and papers. Ranjitha walked toward it and carefully looked around. Then she leaned slightly and whispered, “There it is—your wallet.”
Sophia rushed forward and saw her wallet lying safely among the books. Relief washed over her face.
“You must have placed it here while talking and forgotten to take it,” Ranjitha explained. “This Ashram is known for its honesty and discipline. Nothing goes missing here.”
Sophia picked up her wallet, checked its contents, and smiled gratefully. “Everything is here. Thank you so much, Ranjitha. I was extremely worried.”
Rohan immediately called Chief 001 and expressed his gratitude. “Your trainee solved the case in less than an hour!”
Sophia turned to Ranjitha and said, “Your observation and calm thinking are impressive. You handled this like a true professional.”
Ranjitha smiled modestly. “It’s all because of my Chief’s training.”
With the mystery solved, the tension lifted. The three of them returned to the hotel and enjoyed a delicious lunch together, laughing about the incident.
Their Mysore trip, which had briefly taken a worrying turn, ended on a happy note—thanks to Ranjitha’s presence of mind and sharp investigative skills.
