Small Story 667
Life is Beautiful – 12
Mercara (Coorg) is a place blessed with a cool climate throughout the year and frequent rains, making it naturally beautiful. That day too, it suddenly began to rain. Ram and Vasanthi enjoyed watching the raindrops and listening to their soothing sound. Indeed, nature plays an important role in human life.
Vasanthi: "Ram, I'm staying at this hotel. If the rain continues, you can come to my room and wait until your friends return."
Ram: "Thank you, Vasanthi. I'll wait here. It's not a problem."
Vasanthi: "As you wish."
With that, she went back to her room.
The rain continued to pour, but Ram's friends still hadn't returned.
Ram thought about the first time he had met the beautiful Vasanthi in the charming town of Mercara. Her smile, her gentle way of speaking, and above all, her grace and elegance had deeply impressed him. Ever since childhood, he had always liked the name "Vasanthi." That, too, was one more reason why he felt drawn to her.
Time passed quickly, yet his friends still did not return.
A little later, Vasanthi came back and asked,
Vasanthi: "Ram, your friends still haven't come back? Why don't you come and wait in my room?"
Ram: "Thank you, Vasanthi. I'll stay here. They should be here soon."
Vasanthi: "Alright, Ram. Good night. See you tomorrow."
After saying that, she returned to her room.
Once inside, Vasanthi happily reflected on how she had met the handsome Ram. Her heart was filled with joy and new emotions. The respect and admiration she felt for him grew even stronger. What impressed her the most was Ram's honesty and good character—especially the fact that, despite her invitation, he politely chose not to come to her room.
