Small Story 669
Life is Beautiful – 14
After lunch, Ram and Vasanthi spent a long time talking about many things that interested them both. During that time, Ram's friends returned.
Ram introduced Vasanthi to his friends.
One of his friends said to Vasanthi,
"This is the first time Ram has ever introduced a woman as his friend. He usually doesn't socialize much with women. Seeing you as his friend today is a big surprise to all of us."
Ram:
"Yes, Vasanthi. What they're saying is true. Until today, I have never spoken so closely or comfortably with any woman. I didn't even have conversations like this with the women who studied with me in college."
Vasanthi:
"Until yesterday, my experience was exactly the same."
Ram:
"I don't even know what to call this."
Vasanthi:
"I feel the same way. Ram, I'm leaving tomorrow. Here's my visiting card. Please stay in touch."
Ram:
"Thank you. Here's my card as well. We're leaving this evening. Take good care of your health. Goodbye."
Ram's friends waved at Vasanthi and said, "Goodbye... We'll meet again."
That evening, Ram and his friends left for Bengaluru. On the way, none of his friends asked Ram how he had met Vasanthi or how they had become acquainted. The reason was simple: Ram never interfered in other people's personal matters. Likewise, he did not like others interfering in his own life.
Ram's memories of the past were interrupted by Murthy.
Murthy:
"Ram, shall we stop for a cup of tea?"
Only then did Ram realize that they had been traveling for two hours and were nearing Kushalnagar.
Although Murthy and Raj were Ram's closest friends, he had never shared anything about his past life with either of them.
