Tribute to the 36 Sati Savitri Nivasa Team 916 Today, I fondly remember an interesting stage drama I recently witnessed and thoroughly enjoyed. Though the play ran for 90 minutes, I attended it at my daughter’s request—and I am truly glad I did. I deeply admired the performance of all the artists. Acting on stage is indeed a herculean task, and I was amazed by the outstanding performances delivered by the entire cast, skillfully guided by the capable director, Karthik Hebbar. The dialogues were powerful, cleverly woven with references to current events, and filled with delightful humor. The songs and dance performances added great charm and vibrancy to the production. Among the many talented performers, a few characters remain fresh in my memory—Saradha Amma, Jayamma, Saroja, and the daughter-in-law Karthiyayini. Each of them portrayed their roles with remarkable authenticity and grace. It was truly a memorable evening for me on 18th February at the renowned Ranga Shankara auditorium. One day, Revathy came to Vasanthy’s apartment with an upset look on her face. Vasanthy noticed immediately. “Hey, what happened? You’re not in your usual mood,” she asked gently. Revathy sighed. “Yesterday, one of my relatives met me at a mall. She has come from the US for the holidays. She told me that her son got a good job at Google and then asked what Vinod is doing. Where were you?” Nagaraj asked. “I went to Shimoga to attend a relative’s wedding. From there, I went to Hubli and came back yesterday. How are you?” Ram replied. “I’m fine. Today my grandson is writing his 12th Public Examination. He has a sentiment that whenever you wish him, he scores good marks in exams as well as in other activities. Since I met you, please come with me to my house, bless him, and I will drop you back home,” said Nagaraj. Ram was happy to hear that Nagaraj’s grandson, Varun, was appearing for his public exam. He liked the boy very much and was glad to bless him. Both of them reached Nagaraj’s house just as Varun was about to leave for the examination. Ram blessed him warmly and wished him success with high marks. After Varun left, Nagaraj’s wife offered Ram his favorite masala dosa with ginger tea. Ram gladly accepted it and enjoyed the delicious homemade breakfast. சிறுகதை 528 எதிர்பாராத ஆசீர்வாதங்கள் காலை நடைப்பயிற்சியை முடித்துவிட்டு வந்த ராம், வழியில் தனது நண்பர் நாகராஜை சந்தித்தார். முன்னணி கட்டுமான நிறுவனத்தில் சிவில் பொறியாளராக பணியாற்றி ஓய்வு பெற்ற நாகராஜ், ராமின் குடியிருப்பிற்கு அருகில் குடியேறியிருந்தார். “ஹே ராம், பத்து நாட்களாக உன்னைப் பார்க்கவில்லை. எங்கே போயிருந்தாய்?” என்று நாகராஜ் கேட்டார். “ஒரு உறவினரின் திருமணத்திற்கு Shivamogga (ஷிமோகா) சென்றிருந்தேன். அங்கிருந்து Hubballi (ஹூப்ளி) போய், நேற்று தான் திரும்பி வந்தேன். Small Story 527: The Dindigul Encounter Ram came to Dindigul after many long years to attend his friend’s son’s wedding. Sadly, his old friend was no more. Decades ago, both of them had worked in the pharmaceutical industry and had covered the Dindigul region together. After enjoying a delicious wedding lunch with three varieties of sweets, Ram told his wife, Roshani, “You talk with your friends. I’ll be back soon.” Roshani looked surprised but did not question him. Ram slowly walked towards Abhirami Sannadhi Street, lost in memories. Suddenly, a young man approached him. “Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me where the famous Laxmi Vilas Hotel near the temple is?” Ram was startled. He too had been searching for the same hotel. “Where are you from?” Ram asked. “I live in the US. I came for my cousin’s marriage and wanted to see this hotel. My grandfather retired as Marketing Director from Parke-Davis. He passed away last year. When he worked here, he used to have his meals at this hotel. He spoke about it many times. I was curious to see it.” Ram felt a sudden wave of emotion. “What is your name? And your grandfather’s name?” “My name is Easwar. My grandfather was Viswanathan.” Ram was overwhelmed. Viswanathan was his close friend and colleague. They had watched many Vithalacharya movies together in Dindigul during their younger days. Looking at Easwar, Ram could see the resemblance — the same sharp features, the same warmth in his smile. “I too worked in the pharma field,” Ram said gently. “Your grandfather and I were very close.” They both searched for Laxmi Vilas Hotel but could not find it. Perhaps it had shifted, or perhaps time had erased it. Though they could not locate the hotel, Ram had discovered something far more precious — a living connection to his dear departed friend. There was another surprise. Easwar belonged to the bride’s side, while Ram had come from the groom’s side. Destiny had brought them together in an unexpected way. They returned to the wedding hall, and Ram introduced Easwar to Roshani. The meeting felt special, almost magical. The next day, Ram and Roshani left Dindigul and returned to Bengaluru. The friends enjoyed the refreshments while exchanging light-hearted jokes and laughter. Tribute to Seshadri 915 Today, I would like to remember and appreciate a truly remarkable person known for his humble and devoted service to the community. I have known Mr. Seshadri for more than four and a half decades, and his life has been a shining example of selfless dedication. His noble and yeoman service of providing free lunch every single day to more than two hundred people is not only admirable but truly God-blessed. He is settled in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), in the sacred town of Srirangam. Through his establishment, Athithi Sathkaram, he has created a space where compassion and hospitality flourish. and many also take parcels. The most astonishing aspect is that there is no rate card and no compulsion to pay for the meals. Every day, delicious dishes are served along with two varieties of sweetson auspicious occasions, reflecting generosity and care. When asked about the sponsor behind this great deed, the humble response from his associates is that it is the blessings of Ranganatha flowing through devotees and friends — all without Mr. Seshadri ever asking. I sincerely pray for Mr. Seshadri’s continued service to humanity, good health, and long life. Small Story 523. Miracle Dining – Blessed by Ranganatha Kothai and Ambujam boarded a train to Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) to attend a wedding and visit the temple. After a six-hour journey, they reached the city and checked into their accommodation. Taking some rest, they later proceeded to the wedding hall, blessed the bride—whom they knew very well—and enjoyed a delicious lunch while spending quality time with friends. By evening, they returned to their room. After 5 p.m., they visited the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. As frequent visitors, they were familiar with the priests and were fortunate to have a peaceful and fulfilling darshan. Back at the hotel, their neighbor mentioned, “Madam, if you would like home-style food, you must visit Athithi Satkaram Kaingaryam place near the temple. You will be amazed.” The next morning, curious and eager, they visited the place. To their surprise, nearly 100 people were seated and enjoying a wholesome meal served with two varieties of sweets and several delicious dishes. Volunteers warmly served everyone with smiles. There was no fixed tariff; people could contribute whatever they wished, and there was absolutely no compulsion. Kothai and Ambujam were astonished. Despite their modern lifestyles, the wedding was conducted in a deeply traditional manner. Breakfast and lunch were served generously to more than 350 guests.
