Stress-Free Encounter
Ram never thought he would receive an invitation from a leading senior citizens’ group to speak about today’s stressful lifestyle and ways to manage it. A retired professor and a thoughtful writer, Ram often focused on public life and stress-related issues in various news journals. His daughter, Vasanthy, was also a writer, following in his footsteps. Pankajam, Ram’s wife, admired both her husband’s and daughter’s writing skills.
One day, they received a call inviting Ram to deliver a talk on Sunday. The news filled the family with quiet joy. On Sunday morning, nearly one hundred senior citizens and about twenty of their family members gathered eagerly to listen to him.
Ram spoke for forty-five minutes about modern-day stress and how people could reduce tension by following their passions. He emphasized the importance of meeting others for at least thirty minutes every day, exchanging ideas, and staying socially connected. According to him, such interactions not only reduce stress but also motivate people by exposing them to different perspectives.
The audience listened attentively, nodding in agreement. After the session, many approached Ram to share their thoughts and appreciation.
Vasanthy congratulated her father on his wonderful speech, and Pankajam smiled proudly as she watched him. The event concluded with delicious snacks and two varieties of sweets, adding a pleasant touch to the already stress-free and meaningful gathering.
