Small Story 533.
Small Story 533
Wedding Day Encounter
After visiting their family deity, Roshani and her husband Mahesh returned home and opened their gate. That day was their wedding anniversary, and they had gone to the temple to seek blessings.
Her parents had also come to wish them and were waiting inside the house. Her mother, Kanaka, informed her, “Someone called on the landline asking for you. They said they would meet you before 9 p.m.”
Exactly at 7:30 p.m., Nandhini and her husband Chander arrived at their home. Roshani was delighted to see her friend Nandhini, whom she had met just a year ago during a flight to Dubai. They had spent about an hour together at the malls and at Global Village, chatting and sharing stories.
Nandhini greeted her warmly. “Hey Roshani! How are you? Do you remember me? Last year we spent an hour together at the malls and Global Village.”
Roshani smiled with joy and welcomed her in.
Nandhini continued, “I came here to attend a wedding and wanted to wish you on your wedding anniversary.” She handed over a beautiful package containing a delicious cake. Roshani was thrilled.
Softly, Nandhini whispered, “Last year, on this very same day, you gave me sweets at Global Village and told me it was your wedding day. Since I came to Bengaluru for a wedding and have an early morning flight back to Dubai, I decided to come directly to the airport from your home after meeting you.”
Roshani was truly touched. It was their first acquaintance, yet Nandhini had remembered the special date and thoughtfully brought a cake to celebrate.
Mahesh, too, felt deeply moved. He realized how friendship can blossom beyond distance, beyond time, and beyond miles.
After spending a joyful hour together and enjoying a sweet, delicious dinner, Nandhini and Chander left with warm memories in their hearts — and a bond that had grown stronger despite the distance.
