Koteswara-Friends Small Story 517 Koteswararao came to his daughter Roshini’s apartment on Kanakapura Road along with his wife, Padma. They were warmly welcomed by Roshini and her husband, Pravin. The lunch was arranged to celebrate Pravin’s recent promotion. Pravin worked at Philips, a leading multinational company from Holland. He was serving as Deputy Manager at the Bengaluru office and had now been promoted to Manager with excellent perks. Roshini prepared a delicious lunch along with sweets, making the occasion special. While enjoying the meal, Koteswararao softly whispered to his daughter, “This Pravin is truly lucky. Getting such a good position in a reputed foreign company is not easy.” Roshini smiled and replied, “Yes, Dad. He earned this promotion through merit. On top of that, one of the directors from Holland personally recommended him.” Hearing this, Koteswararao felt proud and happy. A merit-based promotion combined with a director’s recommendation strengthened his son-in-law’s reputation and future growth. After returning home, Koteswararao received a call from an unknown number. “Hey buddy, how are you?” the caller said. Koteswararao couldn’t recognize the voice at first. Then the caller continued, “I am Brahmanandarao, your old schoolmate. I’m settled in Holland now.” He went on, “I recently came across Pravin’s promotion list. While going through his biodata and reception photos, I recognized you and your wife. Apart from Pravin’s merit, a recommendation from a senior always adds greater value. I was happy to recommend his name to our directors, and they were pleased too.” Brahmanandarao added warmly, “I always remember something you used to say—that you are blessed with friends. That’s why you are Koteswararao, someone who never asks for favors. I’ll be meeting you soon in Bengaluru.
