Small Story 528. Unexpected Blessings After his morning walk, Ram met his friend Nagaraj on the way. Nagaraj, who had retired as a civil engineer from a leading construction company, had settled near Ram’s apartment. “Hey Ram, I missed you for ten days. Where were you?” Nagaraj asked. “I went to Shimoga to attend a relative’s wedding. From there, I went to Hubli and came back yesterday. How are you?” Ram replied. “I’m fine. Today my grandson is writing his 12th Public Examination. He has a sentiment that whenever you wish him, he scores good marks in exams as well as in other activities. Since I met you, please come with me to my house, bless him, and I will drop you back home,” said Nagaraj. Ram was happy to hear that Nagaraj’s grandson, Varun, was appearing for his public exam. He liked the boy very much and was glad to bless him. Both of them reached Nagaraj’s house just as Varun was about to leave for the examination. Ram blessed him warmly and wished him success with high marks. After Varun left, Nagaraj’s wife offered Ram his favorite masala dosa with ginger tea. Ram gladly accepted it and enjoyed the delicious homemade breakfast. As he prepared to leave, Ram whispered to Nagaraj, “Before I met you today, I was planning to have masala dosa at our Udupi restaurant. But God blessed me with a homemade one instead.” Nagaraj smiled and nodded. “You are always God’s blessed child.” Ram smiled contentedly as Nagaraj dropped him back at his house, grateful for the unexpected blessing that made his day special.
