Small Story 477.

Small Story 477 Good News at the New Year Party The party hall was full. About 150 friends and relatives gathered at the invitation of Basappa, a retired RTO officer. Every year, he celebrated the New Year with his relatives at home, but this year was special. He wanted to celebrate in a grand manner because his grandson had been selected for the T20 cricket team. Chander, a smart and talented all-rounder, was only 18 years old. His excellent performance in previous matches and his remarkable records earned him the selection. Everyone at the party was proud of him. During the celebration, a young woman named Shalini came close to Basappa and introduced herself. She was a digital content creator who handled accounts for many celebrities. She wanted to cover this special event on her website and other media platforms. Basappa was pleasantly surprised by her interest and felt happy that Chander had already become popular. Smiling, Shalini said, “You may be wondering how I came to know about today’s program. I am the granddaughter of your old friend Lingappa.” Hearing the name, Basappa became very emotional. Lingappa had been his childhood friend. After retirement, Lingappa had settled in Melbourne with his son and was now coming to Bengaluru the next day after twelve long years. Shalini also mentioned that her friend Rama was a classmate of Chander. After a delicious dinner and sweets, Shalini took leave, promising that the party would be featured on her site and other channels. Basappa thanked her warmly and said, “I am eagerly waiting to meet my dear friend Lingappa tomorrow. Thank you for coming and sharing our happiness.” The evening ended with joy, pride, and the promise of a long-awaited reunion. K.Ragavan 1-1-26
