A Sweet Farewell: MTR’s Famous Gulab Jamun
Vittal and Prabhu are good friends working in the same office of a leading audit firm. With only a few months left before retirement, they often spend time together during their usual coffee breaks at the cafeteria next to their office.
One day, Prabhu asked,
“Hey Vittal, what is your plan for holidays this year? We can call it our final working-year holiday. From next year onward, it will be a retired man’s holiday.”
Vittal smiled and replied,
“True, Prabhu. Every year we visit our daughter in New Zealand. But this year, we want a change. We haven’t been to Bengaluru for a long time, so we plan to go there.”
“Good idea,” said Prabhu. “But the traffic there is much heavier compared to our Madurai city.”
“No problem,” Vittal laughed. “We’re going only for a few days. Bengaluru is known for its traditions and delicious food.”
“Yes,” Prabhu nodded. “I’ve heard that MTR, the pioneer restaurant, is famous for its quality and taste—especially their Gulab Jamun.”
As planned, they booked their reservations to the Garden City. Soon, they found themselves walking past the century-old MTR restaurant, enjoying the aroma of its famous Gulab Jamun.
This year, their domestic journey turned into a memorable visit to the traditional city of Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka—made sweeter by friendship, memories, and delicious food.
