Small Story 472.

Small Story472. Diary Background Every year since 2015, Ramnath has received a diary from his former student, Kumar. Kumar had gone to the United States for higher studies and, even after settling there, continued this tradition as a mark of deep respect for his teacher. Ramnath had taught history and encouraged diary writing for more than four and a half decades, and Kumar—one of his most brilliant students—never forgot that influence. Writing daily events had always been Ramnath’s favorite habit. That morning, the courier brought yet another beautiful diary from Kumar. Seeing it, his wife Pramila smiled and said, “Kumar has truly maintained the habit of sending you a diary. Eleven years already—how amazing!” Ramnath softly replied, “He was a brilliant student and a devoted son. His parents struggled greatly to raise him.” He remembered Kumar’s father working as an attendant in a doctor’s clinic and his mother cooking in a small mess. Despite hardships, they dreamed of seeing their son well settled in society—and Kumar fulfilled their ambition. Now Kumar works as a Research Analyst in a leading pharmaceutical company in New Jersey. As Ramnath reflected on Kumar’s journey from struggle to success, he felt proud that his student was now respected and recognized. “You have shaped a remarkable student who sets an example for the entire student community,” Pramila said warmly. “I am proud of Kumar,” Ramnath nodded, and Pramila agreed.
