Small Story 490.

Small Story 490: Divine Blessings At Bhanashankari Metro Station, Rekha was waiting for her friend Vidya. Soon Vidya arrived and greeted her warmly. “Hey, how was your journey? Is the jet lag gone?” Vidya asked. “Yes,” Rekha smiled. “I arrived yesterday morning, took complete rest, and now I feel fresh.” “I’ve been eagerly waiting to see you,” Vidya said. “After two years in the US, it feels so good to meet.” “Yes, Vidya. This year I planned carefully—I didn’t want to miss Madam’s upanyasam on Sri Andal Kalyanam. I’ve been listening to it for the past 26 days. Also, our relative’s marriage is happening here in Garden City, so everything worked out.” “I’m glad,” Vidya replied. “You met Madam last visit remember? She was kind enough to add you to the group.” Rekha nodded. “These lectures give me peace and calmness, and above all, a deep happiness of the mind.” The train stopped at Doddakallasandra Station, close to the apartment where the discourse was being held. After attending the two-hour lecture and partaking of the delicious prasadam with sweets, Rekha felt overwhelmed with gratitude. Around sixty like-minded people had gathered, all sharing the belief and joy of celebrating Sri Andal Nachiyar’s Tiruppavai every December. People from various walks of life came together for these December celebrations across the world—no exaggeration at all—because the essence of every pasuram was truly divine and inspiring. After the lovely discourse by Madam Vedavalli Rekha and Vidya departed. While traveling back on the metro, Rekha softly whispered, “I am truly blessed to have attended this divine function—thanks to you.” Vidya smiled, knowing that some blessings arrive quietly, carried on faith, friendship, and shared devotion.
