Small Story 493.T

Small Story 493. Education Plays a Vital Role Mithila was surprised to see her friend Rohini at the Forum Mall. Rohini had just returned from the US and greeted her warmly. “Hey Mithila! I wanted to call you in the evening. I never expected to meet you here,” Rohini said happily. “I arrived yesterday from Florida and will be here for fifteen days on a project. Can I meet you this evening at 6 p.m. at your apartment?” “Sure,” Mithila replied. “I have to rush now. We’ll catch up in the evening.” After Rohini left, Mithila reminisced about their days together in Florida. Mithila had worked as a school teacher for ten years before settling in Bengaluru. After moving there, she and her apartment friends adopted a village school. They transformed it into a better learning space and started teaching underprivileged children up to Class 5. Years passed, and Mithila was recognized by an NGO for her dedication to educating underprivileged children. She strongly believed that education is a valuable asset and that knowledge lasts forever, unlike wealth. Her experience as a teacher inspired her to take this noble path. That evening, when the doorbell rang, Mithila welcomed Rohini with a box of sweets and chocolates. Rohini was amazed by Mithila’s work. “You have made a real impact,” Rohini said. “You chose to spread education, which lasts forever, rather than chase wealth.” After a pleasant dinner, Rohini left with happiness in her heart. As she sat in the car, she nodded to herself and thought, “Great work, Mithila. You have truly made a difference.” K.Ragavan 17-1-26
