Small Story 498.

Small Story498. Different Path, Fulfilled Dreams Venkatraman was shocked by his son Suresh’s decision to reject a bank job. Suresh was firm about joining a journalism course, as he dreamed of becoming a versatile journalist. Venkatraman, a retired Deputy General Manager of a bank, was taken aback when his son refused the appointment letter. Suresh was the only son. His mother, Lalitha, supported his choice wholeheartedly, and eventually Venkatraman, too, agreed to respect his son’s passion. After successfully completing the journalism course in eighteen months, Suresh received an offer from an international television channel in the USA with an attractive package. Both parents were delighted. On the day of departure, Suresh sought his parents’ blessings and left for the United States. Posted in Denver, Suresh regularly spoke to his father about his workplace, the professional atmosphere, and his learning experiences. Venkatraman listened with pride and appreciation. After a year, Suresh called his father with exciting news. A new division focusing on finance, investment, and banking had been formed in the channel, and Suresh had been appointed as the head of that division. Venkatraman was thrilled. His long-cherished ambition for his son had come true in an unexpected way. Though Suresh had not joined a bank, he was now leading a division closely connected to banking and finance. With emotion in his voice, Venkatraman said, “Your decision and intuition were right, Suresh. You fulfilled your dream—and mine too.” Lalitha nodded in agreement, smiling with pride.
