Small Story 492:
Blessing in Disguise
After a long time, Roshani visited Chennai. The weather was pleasant and surprisingly cool. From Central Station, she made her way to T. Nagar and finally located her friend Kalpana’s house.
Kalpana was overjoyed to see her old buddy after twenty years. They spent hours reminiscing about the past. During their conversation, Roshani revealed the real reason for her visit. Kalpana’s cousin, a professor working in Madurai, had been suggested as a prospective match for Roshani’s daughter Namratha by their mutual friend Anisha. Even the horoscopes matched well.
But Kalpana had unfortunate news. Her cousin had got engaged the previous week and was leaving for Singapore the next week. The marriage was planned for April.
Roshani felt deeply disappointed. A good alliance for her 27-year-old daughter had slipped away, increasing her worries.
After spending two days with Kalpana, Roshani returned to Bengaluru. Her husband Shyam remained calm, as always. “Whatever happens is for good,” he said. That was his philosophy.
A few days later, Roshani unexpectedly met another close friend, Shilpa, at a mall. Shilpa was searching for a suitable girl for her son, who was working in Bengaluru. Roshani mentioned that her daughter Namratha was also employed in an IT firm in the same city.
Within a week, the boy and the girl met. They liked each other and soon agreed to the match. The wedding was celebrated joyfully at a resort near JP Nagar, complete with a lively music event and grand festivities.
After the marriage, Roshani softly whispered to herself that everything had happened for the best. Her daughter was an only child, and so was Shilpa’s son. What seemed like a disappointment earlier had turned into a true blessing.
A great coincidence indeed.
