Small Story 425.

Small Story 425 The Dubbing Encounter Poornima came to Subbu’s production office for her audition test. As she entered the reception area, she noticed an elderly gentleman, around seventy-five, waiting there. He looked smart, elegant, and pleasant. The receptionist asked Poornima to wait, explaining that someone was already inside Subbu’s cabin. Poornima smiled at the elderly man, and he greeted her warmly in return. Introducing herself, Poornima explained that she had come to render her voice as a dubbing artist. Subbu, she knew, was one of the veteran producers of the Sandalwood film industry, known for his meaningful and successful films. The elderly man introduced himself as Keshav. Poornima’s eyes lit up — she immediately recognized him as the famous writer of Kannada, English, and Tamil stories and novels. “Sir, it’s such a great day for me to meet you,” she said excitedly. Keshav smiled kindly. “Thank you, my child. I wish you all the best. If you do well in your audition, you have a bright future in Subbu’s films.” Poornima was touched by his blessings — he felt like a fatherly figure, a true legend of the literary world. After a while, Keshav went inside to meet Subbu to discuss his new story — a family drama with a meaningful message and no violence. Subbu was impressed by the concept and immediately agreed to produce it. After sharing a cup of tea, Keshav left the office. Twenty minutes later, Poornima finished her audition and stepped out, her face glowing with excitement. She saw Keshav nearby and, overwhelmed with emotion, touched his feet. “Sir,” she said, “I’ve been selected! I’m proud to be a part of your story in Subbu’s film. Thank you for your blessing — you foresaw it even before I knew!” Keshav smiled — the quiet confidence of a true legend shining in his eyes. Indeed, legends always possess the vision and foresight to see what others cannot — and Keshav was no exception. K.Ragavan 10-11-25
