Small Story 429.
Small Story 429:
The Evening Encounter
Seshaiah returned home from his evening walk. His granddaughter, Shreya, was waiting eagerly — it was their daily story time.
“Hi, Grandpa! You’re ten minutes late today. Why?” she asked curiously.
Seshaiah smiled and whispered, “I wanted to come on time, dear, because I know you have to study after listening to the story. But I got delayed because of something unexpected.”
“What happened, Grandpa?” Shreya asked, her eyes wide.
“When I crossed the 9th Block road, a scooter suddenly hit a young boy who was trying to cross the street. The boy fell down, and no one came to help him. I ran to him, lifted him up, and asked his name. He told me he was Anil, studying in 4th grade — in your school!”
“Really, Grandpa? In my class?” Shreya exclaimed.
“Yes,” smiled Seshaiah. “That made me happy — to help someone you know. Since his house was nearby, I took him home safely and came back.”
Shreya hugged him and said, “No problem, Grandpa! Today’s story is even better — you helped my classmate, Anil. You’re my hero!”
Seshaiah looked at Shreya’s grandmother, Prema, who nodded with a proud smile.
