Small Story 436.

Small Story 436 Aneesh Story Continuation The next day, Ambujam was showing Aneesh his dad’s old diary. “Aneesh, your dad was a very good finance person,” she said softly. “He worked in India Cements for four years. Then suddenly he decided to go and meet his friend, who had his own audit firm. He believed that if he joined his friend, he could build a bright future for you.” She turned another page of the diary. “Ram left when you were just five years old. He got his friend’s visa and a ticket to Nebraska. After a few days, I received a call from him. He said he had reached safely and was staying with his friend Narendar. That was the first and last message I ever got from him…” Her voice trembled. “But my intuition still says that Ram will come back one day… or we will meet him again. Next month, on the 11th, it will be twenty years since he left.” Aneesh held her hands gently. “Mummy, I appreciate your love and your attachment to dad. He will come back,” he whispered, and then hugged her tightly. After a while, Ambujam left for the office. Aneesh finished his pooja and went to see his friend Kesav, who was working in a private bank. They had lunch together, and in the afternoon, Aneesh returned home. That evening, when his mother came back from work, she asked, “Did you have lunch with Kesav?” Aneesh smiled at her affectionate concern. “Yes, Mummy. But what about you? You didn’t prepare lunch in the morning.” “Oh, today one of our staff members had his 60th birthday and retirement function,” she said. “So I had lunch at the office and brought sweets for you.” After that, Aneesh and Ambujam sat together in the living room, quietly watching TV, sharing a peaceful moment between mother and son.
