Small Story 776
Friendship, Ambition, and a Mother’s Blessings
Rajesh arrived at the usual meeting place to meet his dear friends. Suresh greeted him warmly and congratulated him on achieving his ambition of becoming a physiotherapist.
Suresh, Rajesh, and Akilesh had been close friends for several years. Each of them had a clear ambition for the future. Rajesh had become a physiotherapist, Suresh had fulfilled his dream of becoming an ophthalmologist, and Akilesh had become a physical education instructor at a school.
After everyone had gathered, they went to a nearby restaurant in the Banashankari area and settled down for breakfast. They congratulated one another on their achievements and felt proud that they had successfully pursued their chosen professions.
Rajesh began the conversation.
“Dear friends, we are meeting here after a few months, and I am delighted that all three of us have found jobs in Bengaluru. We can now meet frequently, share our experiences, and continue our friendship as before.
“I am especially grateful to my loving mother for motivating me to study physiotherapy. She always encouraged me to choose a profession through which I could serve people and contribute to their health and well-being.
“I have seen many people suffering from joint disorders and knee problems, particularly women. I feel a special concern for them and want to treat every patient with the same care and affection that I would show my own mother. I believe physiotherapy can help many people regain mobility, reduce discomfort, and lead more active lives.
“I developed a genuine interest in this subject, and by God's grace, I completed my studies successfully. I am happy that I will be joining a reputed speciality hospital tomorrow. I hope to gain experience, improve my skills, and provide quality treatment at reasonable charges so that more people can benefit from my services.”
Suresh listened attentively and then shared his own feelings.
“My ambition was to become an ophthalmologist because I wanted to help people suffering from poor vision and other eye-related problems. Good eyesight is essential for education, employment, and everyday life. I feel fortunate to have chosen a profession through which I can help people protect and improve their vision.”
Akilesh smiled and added, “My greatest wish is to motivate school students to maintain good health and develop healthy habits from an early age. Physical exercise, sports, discipline, and proper guidance can make a significant difference in their lives. I want to encourage every student to remain active, stay healthy, and grow into a confident individual.”
The three friends were delighted to discover that, although they had chosen different professions, their common purpose was to serve society. They promised to support one another, exchange professional knowledge, and remain connected throughout their careers.
After enjoying their breakfast and a pleasant conversation, they parted with happy hearts.
When Rajesh returned home, his mother, Ambuja, was eagerly waiting for him.
“Amma, I met my friends today. We are all very happy because we have achieved our professional ambitions and secured jobs in Bengaluru. I feel especially grateful to you for encouraging me to become a physiotherapist. With the increasing number of orthopaedic problems and people suffering from joint and knee pain, I believe this profession is very much needed today. I hope to serve my patients sincerely and make a positive difference in their lives.”
Ambuja smiled affectionately and replied, “My dear son, I am happy that you have achieved your ambition. But remember, apart from having an interest in your profession, dedication, patience, and compassion are equally important. Every patient who comes to you places their trust in your hands. Treat them with kindness, listen to their problems, and do your best to help them. Your profession will become truly meaningful when your knowledge is combined with a sincere desire to serve others.”
Rajesh felt deeply moved by his mother's words. He took out a box of badam cake, her favourite sweet, which he had brought especially for her.
“Amma, this is for you. I wanted to share my happiness with you before joining duty tomorrow.”
Ambuja accepted the sweet with a joyful smile and blessed him wholeheartedly.
“May God bless you with good health, wisdom, and success. May you become an excellent physiotherapist and bring relief and happiness to many people. Always remember that serving others with love is one of the greatest achievements in life.”
Rajesh bowed respectfully and received his mother's blessings. As he prepared to begin his professional journey the following day, he felt grateful for his education, his friends, and, above all, his mother's unconditional love and encouragement.
