 A Role Model Worth Following

Ramesh arrived at his friend Kishan’s house to attend a small get-together organised to honour their dear friend Vikas, who had recently been promoted to the position of Branch Manager at their bank.

As Vikas did not wish to celebrate his promotion with a grand party, the gathering was limited to ten close friends and colleagues. Kishan and the others warmly welcomed Ramesh, who was a good friend and respected colleague of everyone present.

Ramesh was well known for his excellent rapport with customers, courteous behaviour, and commitment to providing quality service. His dedication and willingness to help others had earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

As the gathering was scheduled for 5 p.m., the friends had arranged light refreshments, including Vikas’s favourite sweet, badam cake. Vikas’s wife warmly welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming together to honour her husband on his achievement.

After enjoying the delicious refreshments, everyone congratulated Vikas on his well-deserved promotion. They were particularly impressed by the fact that he had achieved this milestone within a relatively short period, thanks to his efficiency, sincerity, and outstanding performance in the same branch.

When it was his turn to speak, Vikas expressed his gratitude to all his friends and colleagues.

“Thank you all for your affection and encouragement. On this special occasion, I would like to share something that has inspired me deeply. I want to follow the example set by our good friend Ramesh, our Field Officer.

“Many of you know how sincerely he has recommended deserving and meritorious students for educational loans. He believes that financial difficulties should never prevent talented students from pursuing higher education and achieving their dreams.

“What makes his contribution truly remarkable is that two of the students who benefited from his recommendations have gone on to become IAS officers. This is an extraordinary achievement, and Ramesh deserves our appreciation for helping young people realise their potential.

“I strongly believe that talented students should be encouraged and supported so that they can become responsible administrators and serve our great nation. Education is not merely a means of earning a livelihood; it is also a powerful tool for transforming individuals, families, and society.

“Ramesh has demonstrated that even a person working in an ordinary position can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of others. His dedication to education and his concern for deserving students are qualities I hope to emulate in my new role as Branch Manager.

Ramesh felt deeply moved by Vikas’s appreciation. He had never helped students expecting recognition or praise. For him, helping a deserving student receive an education loan was simply a responsibility towards society.
