Small Story 775
A Heartwarming Reunion in Mysore
After settling into her seat on the flight to Bengaluru, Sophia sent a message to her dear friend Ranjitha, informing her that she was on her way to India.
It had been three years since Sophia had last visited India, and she was eagerly looking forward to meeting Ranjitha and her other friends. This visit was especially meaningful because she wanted to attend the first birthday celebration of Ranjitha’s little son, Krishna.
After a nine-hour flight from London, Sophia finally arrived at Bengaluru International Airport. Once she had collected her luggage and completed the necessary formalities, she was about to book a cab to Mysore when a man approached her.
“Madam, are you Sophia? I am Kesav, the driver from OO1 Academy. Ranjitha Madam has sent me to receive you at the airport and take you to Dasaprakash Paradise in Mysore.”
Sophia was pleasantly surprised by this unexpected arrangement. Kesav then called Ranjitha and handed the phone to Sophia.
“Hey, Sophia! How are you? How is your husband? I am so happy that you have travelled all the way from London to attend Krishna’s first birthday! Please relax and enjoy the journey. Kesav will stop somewhere for breakfast on the way, and you should reach your hotel by 8:40 a.m. After resting for about three hours, you can come to our house for the birthday celebration. We are all eagerly waiting to see you!”
“Thank you so much, Ranjitha! I am really touched by your affection and thoughtfulness. See you soon!” Sophia replied happily.
As she settled comfortably into the car and enjoyed the smooth drive, Sophia could not stop thinking about Ranjitha’s thoughtful gesture. She had never expected her friend to send a car and driver all the way to Bengaluru airport to receive her.
She wondered how beautifully God connected good people in life. She had first met Ranjitha a few years earlier during her visit to Denver, when she had attended an anniversary celebration at the Academy. That meeting had blossomed into a warm and lasting friendship, and today, Ranjitha’s affection made her feel truly special.
After stopping for a delicious breakfast on the way, Sophia reached Dasaprakash Paradise in Mysore. She completed the check-in formalities and settled into her room.
Before leaving, Kesav told her, “Madam, I will come back at 12:15 p.m. to take you to the birthday function. Please relax and get some rest until then.”
Sophia thanked him and went to her room. After taking a refreshing bath, she rested for a couple of hours. She then sent a message to her husband, Henry, informing him that she had reached Mysore safely and was comfortable at the hotel.
At the appointed time, Kesav arrived to take her to Ranjitha’s house in Jayalakshmipuram.
The moment Sophia entered the house, she was delighted to see several familiar faces. OO1 and his wife were there, along with Ram, the well-known blogger and writer, his wife Vasanthi, Kaadhambari, Prasanna, and her mother, Kotha.
Everyone welcomed Sophia warmly. She blessed little Krishna and wished him a happy first birthday. The gathering was filled with smiles, laughter, and affectionate greetings. Her friends were delighted to see her again after such a long gap.
Sophia was especially happy to meet Prasanna, whom Kaadhambari had introduced to her. The reunion gave her an opportunity to strengthen her friendship with the family and get to know everyone better.
After enjoying a sumptuous lunch and spending some wonderful moments with her friends, Sophia returned to her hotel, carrying a heart full of happiness.
During the following week, Sophia visited the homes of her friends and enjoyed their hospitality and delicious lunches. She also visited OO1 Academy, where she spent time with OO1 and learned more about its activities and achievements.
Everywhere she went, she was welcomed with genuine affection. Her friends made special efforts to ensure that she felt at home, even though she had travelled from another country. The love, care, and warmth showered upon her were beyond anything she had imagined.
Sophia was particularly touched by the affection shown by Ranjitha, Ram, Vasanthi, and Prasanna’s family. What had begun as a visit to attend a child’s birthday celebration had turned into a memorable week filled with friendship, hospitality, and beautiful experiences.
On the day of her departure, Sophia received several gifts from her friends. Vasanthi, in particular, gave her special gifts as a token of love and remembrance. Sophia was deeply moved by their generosity and the affection behind every gift.
Once again, Kesav came forward to help. He drove her safely from Mysore to Bengaluru International Airport, ensuring that her return journey began comfortably.
After completing the airport formalities and boarding her flight, Sophia settled into her seat. As the aircraft prepared for departure, she began reminiscing about her wonderful stay in Mysore.
She thought of Ranjitha’s loving welcome, the joyful birthday celebration of little Krishna, the warmth of Ram and Vasanthi, the affection of Prasanna’s family, and the kindness of all her friends at OO1 Academy.
A smile spread across her face as she realised that the true value of a journey was not measured by the distance travelled, but by the love one received and the memories one carried home.
Though she was leaving Mysore, the bonds of friendship she had strengthened during the week would remain close to her heart.
**Some journeys bring us to new places, but the most beautiful journeys bring us closer to wonderful people.**
Sophia closed her eyes with a grateful heart, looking forward to the day when she would meet her dear friends again.
