 Small Story 777

777 – The Taste of Tradition and Quality

Ramu arrived in Chennai after seven years to attend the wedding of his dear friend Mukund’s daughter. The wedding was being held at a newly established Kalyana Mahal on Govindappa Naicken Street, equipped with modern amenities and facilities.

Ramu and Mukund had worked in the same office in Bengaluru for many years and had developed a close friendship. After their careers took different turns, Mukund settled in Chennai, while Ramu continued to live in Bengaluru, even though Chennai was his hometown.

Mukund and his wife, Sunitha, warmly welcomed Ramu. After exchanging greetings, Mukund asked, “Why hasn’t Mrs. Ramu come with you? We were expecting to see her too!”

Ramu smiled and replied, “She has gone to Canada to stay with our daughter, Pramila, who is expecting a baby at any time. She wanted to be with her during this important period.”

After attending the wedding and enjoying a delicious lunch with a variety of dishes, the two old friends spent time reminiscing about their wonderful memories from their years together in Bengaluru. They laughed as they recalled their office experiences, mutual friends, and the happy moments they had shared.

Ramu stayed with Mukund for two days in his comfortable apartment in the posh Annanagar neighbourhood. During his stay, the friends decided to watch the classic Tamil film *Veerapandiya Kattabomman*. They thoroughly enjoyed the powerful dialogues delivered by the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan, whose magnificent performance brought back memories of Tamil cinema’s golden era.

The following day, they visited Beach Station and saw the old Post Office building in the area. From there, they went to the famous Ramavilas Hotel, a place filled with nostalgic memories for both of them.

Whenever they visited Chennai for meetings in the past, they would make it a point to visit Ramavilas Hotel. They particularly enjoyed its famous 777-brand products, including its delicious savouries and traditional powders. They would always purchase their favourite items to take back to Bengaluru.

After spending four wonderful days in Chennai, Ramu prepared to return to Bengaluru. Mukund and Sunitha lovingly sent him off with several gifts and packets of sweets, knowing how much he enjoyed them.

As Ramu settled into his seat on the train, he looked at the familiar 777 products he had purchased and smiled to himself.

“Times have changed, and so much has changed around us. But 777 remains the same old 777, maintaining its quality and traditional taste,” he whispered with satisfaction.

The train began its journey towards Bengaluru, carrying Ramu home with a heart full of cherished memories, the warmth of an old friendship, and the timeless taste of a beloved Chennai tradition.
