Best medicine

Negative thinking is a bane. A few months ago, a friend was worried about his health as he felt he was overweight. Even though for his age it was not a big cause for worry, he kept grumbling about it. I gave him a tip and forgot about our meeting. He called up this week to say “thank you.”

Surprised, I asked the reason and he replied, “Your magic worked.” Well, all I had told him was to go for regular walking, with a highly positive frame of mind.

I had mentioned that there was no better medicine than walking. I am happy that my friend took the suggestion seriously and reaped the fruits of his hard work.

Letter Published in Gulf News UAE on 25May 16, Thorough investigations in flight crash

In the recent months, many air accidents have happened like the EgyptAir disappearance turned crash (‘French investigators say EgyptAir jet sent series of signals indicating smoke’, Gulf News, May 22. The missing EgyptAir plane was found in pieces in Greece and this was more sad and painful news to read. However, airline authorities ruled out that this was not due to terrorist acts or a technical issue. Still, it requires a probe to find out the real cause. The authorities should find out the missing passengers’ fate. Will the authorities speed up this issue and come out with what has really happening. Despite so many accidents like these, still people are travelling by air and airlines should assure more safety to passengers. Today, in any mode of travel, we need to be more safe and with more secure.

Letter Published in Gulf News UAE on 26 May 16,Will the government react?

The recent statistics revealed that 350 deaths are happening on Indian roads and majority are under 18 years, driving two wheelers was sad. Not following the traffic rules, rash driving, poor roads and, above all, rushing to reach the destination are the main attributing factors for this. The Indian government should monitor this periodically and cancel the licences of reckless drivers for a few years who aren’t following the traffic rules. Most important, the roads should be improved for smoother driving. If this can be taken care of, this strategy may change the future. Will the Indian government take up this call?
