Given that the country has taken the fight against terrorism to a global level, it should be ready for such attacks and tighten security measures at home. Furthermore, the attacker said he did this in the name of ISIL but claims of co-ordination with group masterminds must be verified and substantiated, as this tyrannical group does not deserve any overstatement of their power to wreak destruction.K Ragavan, India

From Zoo to Safari   Dubai has many laurels to its name with distinguished malls, high rise buildings and the five-decade-old Dubai Zoo, which was one of the main attractions for international tourists. I have visited the zoo on a few occasions when I was in Dubai. It was well maintained by the caring staff members. All the animals from the zoo will be shifting to the new safari park, which is the first park of its kind in the Middle East region. This should be applauded. In lieu of this, November 5 will be the last day for the old zoo. The UAE is known for its innovations in all areas, and this Safari Park is among them. I wish the Dubai government all the very best for this new venture.

The Swiss tourists who were brutally attacked in India by a group of men, was a condemned one (“Swiss tourists brutally attacked in India”, Gulf News, October 27). The Indian government should take care of the tourists who are visiting the many popular places in our country. Violence is unacceptable and India is known for its hospitality and tolerance. Whoever is responsible for this brutal act should be brought to justice. Indian external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj also condemned this incident. I hope the Indian government will look into this issue and will make tourists happy and feel safe.

Disgraceful act

It was painful to read about the Indian doctor who drugged his patient and raped her in the clinic (Indian doctor drugs patient, rapes her in clinic, KT, Oct 30). Doctors take the Hippocratic oath to serve the humanity with care and alleviate the sufferings. This doctor’s behaviour is appalling and he is a disgrace to the medical profession. He should not be allowed to practice and his licence should be revoked. Will the medical council act?

Flag Day is the day people of the UAE remember their architect, Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father, for his vision and foresight. All the Emirates will be celebrating this day and will pay their respects to the late leader. Flag Day also denotes the country’s feelings of justice, peace, tolerance and prosperity for all its people. I have attended this function on two occasions. The flag also represents the greatness of the country, to accommodating thousands of expatriates for a bright future.
