Great loss.

The demise of the 90-year-old Solomon Pappiah, a versatile and highly respected Pattimandram speaker and anchor, is a great loss to the literary and Pattimandram world.

Through his distinctive style, wit, humour, and excellent oratory skills, he created a unique image and identity for himself and earned a special place in the hearts of Tamil audiences. He was also honoured with several prestigious awards in recognition of his contribution to Tamil language and culture.

Known especially for his natural and effortless delivery of comedy, Solomon Pappiah brought liveliness and warmth to every Pattimandram he participated in. He also appeared in a few films, including American and Thiagaraya College, if I remember correctly.

His contribution to Tamil literary forums, Pattimandram, and public discourse will always be remembered.

My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, admirers, and the countless people who enjoyed his speeches and programmes.

May his soul rest in peace.
