Child Labour: A Serious Social Issue

Despite activists and concerned citizens continuously raising their voices against child labour, the practice continues to increase in many parts of our society. The recent rescue of a large number of child labourers in Karnataka is a disturbing reminder that much more needs to be done to eradicate this social evil.

Parents and employers have a moral and social responsibility to ensure that children are not deprived of their education. Childhood should be a time for learning, growing, and building a secure future—not for being forced into labour.

Children are the future leaders of our country. Every child deserves the opportunity to receive proper education and develop their talents. Parents should encourage and support their children to continue their studies until they reach the legally permissible age for employment.

At the same time, strict action and appropriate punishment must be imposed on employers who illegally employ children. Effective enforcement of child-labour laws, greater public awareness, and responsible parenting are essential to protect children from exploitation.

Let us work together to ensure that no child is deprived of education because of poverty, exploitation, or negligence. Every child deserves a childhood, an education, and a better future.
