I write in reference to Rashmee Roshan Lall’s article Amid preparations for Nato’s 70th anniversary summit, no one seems sure about where Europe should be heading (November 26): it is troubling to read about people questioning the wisdom of the formation of organisations such as the European Union and Nato. These are blocs that were created after the end of the Second World War in order to build and preserve a rules-based international order.

These collaborations are being given another look by present-day leaders with no credible alternative solutions at their disposal. I just hope better sense prevails among politicians and organisations like the EU and Nato are preserved.

Letter Published in The National UAE on 27 Nov 19 Pope Francis is right: humans can inflict great pain on each other This is with regard to the article Pope Francis calls for world leaders to abandon nuclear weapons (November 24): Claire Corkery’s piece was a comprehensive read. In his recent visit to Japan, Pope Francis laid a wreath at a site in Nagasaki in memory of the 74,000 victims of the bomb and called it a reminder “of the pain and horror that we human beings are capable of inflicting upon one another”. These are wise words.The pope appealed to world leaders to ban nuclear weapons. This is a good call urging leaders across the globe to take positive action. However, will international leaders listen to the request of the pontiff?Pope Francis laid a second wreath in memory of 26 Nagasaki martyrs, who were crucified in 1597 at the start of the two-century wave of anti-Christian persecution by Japanese rulers. He then travelled to Hiroshima to the site where the first atomic bomb was dropped three days before the attack on Nagasaki, killing at least 140,000 people.War, fighting and attacking one another is never a solution. The pope’s appeal for world peace is laudable.K Ragavan, Bengaluru

With regard to your story Thirteen protesters killed in southern Iraq as turmoil intensifies (November 24): the coverage of the turmoil in the oil-rich nation of Iraq has been extensive. The number of protesters killed has increased.

The attack by the security forces is not justifiable and the Human Rights Commission has a moral and official responsibility to investigate the matter.

It is high time that a stable government is appointed in the country and the people given an assurance of good governance.

The basic needs of the people must be met.

But we will have to wait and see whether Iraq’s future takes a good turn or whether these atrocities continue much longer.

Tribute to Director H.Vinoth 585.

Today i remembered another  film personality from Tamil Film Industry is none other than Director H.Vinoth.He started his first   film SathurangaVettai  produced by actor,Director ManoBala gave a big hit for both.The film  with different concept  and participation of actors Viz,Natraj,Ilavarasu,Ponvannan and others.K.G.Venkatesh 's Cinematography  is added to the film's success.He has worked  with the leading actor Thalai Ajith Kumar in  NerKonda Parvai.also gave a good name for him with .Nirav Shah's beautiful cinematography .I have seen both the films of this talented Director.I have been repeatedly writing in this Column  Indian film industry especially Tamil Film Industry has good  scope for talented young Directors Viz H.Vinoth..Today i am very happy to tribute this talented  young Director.
