The recent verdict on the Aadhaar card from the Indian Supreme Court was a landmark judgment and a great relief for billions of Indians (“Ruling a blow to the government”, Gulf News, August 25). Before introducing this, the previous government thought of the privacy of the people. Despite the extension dates, many have still not received this card. Privacy should be preserved and that is the fundamental right of every Indian citizen.

Tribute to Writer Vaidyalingam(Prapanchan) 469.

Today i am going to pen another interesting personality from the tamil literary world is none other than famous writer Vaidya lingam popularly known as Prapanchan.Started his career as a tamil teacher later become a great writer is worth to be mentioned here.He has also  worked in  famous magazines ,Kumudam,Ananda Vikatan and Kungumam should be applaudable. He has contributed many Short stories, and Novels.His novel VanamVasappadum,bestowed the prestigious Sahitya Academy Award is very important.I have read few stories of this Stalwart Writer.Vanam Vasapaddum is the one i remember and couple of short stories i could n't remember.Simple Crystal clear language will be visible in his creations.He hails from Pondichery where many talented people was born.Today i am very happy to tribute this Living Legend who has created a big impact in the tamil literary world.

The recent protests in the Indian state of Haryana by Ram Rahim's followers have led to the death of 31 people. This is unacceptable. Protesters should do it peacefully and not loot public property and kill innocent people. In India, people blindly follow politicians, actors and fake gurus. As an Indian citizen, I strongly condemn the looting of public property. A sad state of affairs.

The Supreme Court’s verdict against the triple talaq is favourable to Muslim women and is not only a dramatic development, but also a hope for gender equality (“Petitioners: The women behind India’s instance divorce verdict”, Gulf News, August 23). This is mainly due to five women petitioners who turned the future of Muslim women around. It shows that women should be respected and given equal importance.
