The demise of the 94-year-old versatile actress Sowcar Janaki is a great loss to the film industry. With a career spanning more than 400 films in various languages, she proved her mettle as a remarkably talented and versatile actress. She was a highly respected, knowledgeable, and dignified personality, admired and loved by one and all.
Many of her memorable films and performances remain etched in our memories, especially her unique dialogue delivery and inimitable style of acting.
I had the privilege of meeting her and spending time with her on four occasions. During those interactions, she shared many interesting experiences and valuable insights from her long and illustrious journey in the film industry. Those conversations will always remain cherished memories for me.
I pray that the Almighty gives her family members the strength and courage to withstand this irreparable loss. May her soul rest in peace. Her remarkable contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered and cherished.
